And also, I think the way pre-loading works is that it lets you partially download bits of the game and then it downloads the rest when it's out? I'm not 100%.
Preloading is usually just the major container files, but doesn't include the binaries. There's some compression (not much, given they're usually already compressed archive) and encryption too.
Right but I'm thinking they don't have more than 100% compression ratios...
For people who know more about homeworld 2, did ships still have weak points? (like how in homeworld 1 Resource Collectors were weak from the rear) or was it all rock-paper-scissors type-battles?
As far as I know, the mechanic was in the engine in the original Homeworld 2 but not used.
I wonder how you'll be able to launch the classic versions of the games. They haven't appeared as separate games in my library so I'm intrigued.
Do we know what exact time the game will unlock?
I feel like I'm going to sit there half an hour before and just froth at the mouth in anticipation.
About 6 Pm on wednesday it will unlock for me. I'm in the UK fyi
The game has just under 16 hours left on the pre-order sale so the game should unlock when it finishes.
10am PST is the the listed unlock time (and it's the standard daily release/update time for steam). It can unlock earlier, but don't expect it to. Should be available within 30 minutes of the unlock time.
If there's enough interest in some matches with other Facepunchers, I could make a steam group for the multiplayer.
Please do
Really wish it actually came out on the 25th here and not the 26th. Man, if only release dates were timezone relative.

I'll add it to the OP once I get home. Hell, I could whip up some icons for it too.

Launch trailer. The music choice is kind of poor, so I got bored and rectified that by putting it with Yes credits song, it works pretty well. Make sure you mute the trailer.

Was just screwing around, I actually think the ChaosUT2 theme (that already sounds homeworld/cataclysm-ish) fits really with the pacing of this trailer

if some of those points happen then I'm lost again in HW space http://steamcommunity.com/app/244160/discussions/0/612823460251024792/
Looks like we won't be able to play as the Taiidan in HW1 Remastered's SP, only in the original.
I really wanted them to keep weak points on ships, it seems like it could be such a simple but effective way to make the 3d movement more important
Oh well, at least the problems that I'll probably have for the game are really just nitpicks when it comes down to it.

well, this now confirms that Shipbreakers will be a HW1 prequel taking place on Kharak
Interesting how much emphasis on future content/updates was put halfway through the video. Hope for eventual Cata DLC intensifies.
The minimum requirements for this game are so low I could probably run it on my cheap Windows tablet.

Well it is for the most part a visual upgrade, and engine upgrades to support it for a game that was released in 1999
I only just noticed, but the steam page shows steam workshop support on the remastered collection. That's pretty nice.
Its live
I'll be streaming it here shortly.
