Sorted now.

So bundled up into one launcher, interesting.
Yeah, I think the actual app you launch on steam is just the launcher + multiplayer and the singleplayer games are handled as DLC. Probably why the pre-load was so small, it didn't download the DLC. Makes me wonder if they'll sell them separately in the future.
Actually never mind, the DLC is the classic editions of the games. If you uncheck those you can start playing without downloading anything.

Exactly my thoughts when I noticed it.
Also Complex 9.1 instantly in Workshop.
[editline]25th February 2015[/editline]
Hm... both remastered versions launch as normal. Classics, on the other hand, return error "missing executable".
Did you download the update?
Those are probably the classic versions since steam thinks of them as DLC
i... have no words for the remastered home world 1. It is insanely beautiful.
But is it fun? Or did Gearbox fuck it up again?
I think they improved the ship behavior, tried out a player vs. cpu game of HW2 remastered and fighter/corvette squadrons looked a lot more natural when they were engaging targets. in HW2 I remember they would often come to a full stop, then do a 180 to attack, now they seem to flow more naturally
Theres already a workshop page for Complex 9.1
dammit late
I'm genuinely scared because I forget how to homeworld.
I played a bit of skirmish in Homeworld Remastered during my lunch break. They changed a lot of little things from the preview builds we saw.
- Fully parallel building HW1 style is in the game
- Research is HW1 levels of slow
- Corvettes in general saw buffs across the board
- Corvettes are way better at killing fighters than they used to be
- Assault Frigates are all around better than before and are a better jack of all trades than they already were in HW1
- Capital ships still fly level HW2 style, which is detrimental to their aiming. In HW1 they would fully face a target if it was below them.
- "Formations" are useless aside from generally keeping ships together during travel. They're just a reskinned strike group from HW2, which was equally useless.
- With formations no longer working right, it's much harder to keep track of your strike craft because they all spread out and mix between each other.
- Corvettes are cheaper than they used to be much more spammable
- Interceptors are nowhere near as good as they used to be because everything else is now so much more powerful relative to them
- Ditto to Scouts.
- Frigate vs Frigate combat plays out very similarly to how it used to
- Destroyer vs Frigate combat now sees the Destroyer put out insane DPS compared to before and it can now solo fleets of Frigates with depressing ease.
- Support Frigates having to hard dock severely limits their mobility and repair ability
- Support Frigates still have that cool green beam
- Starting with a carrier mixes up the metagame quite a bit
- You start with a ton of Resource Collectors, which considering they still seem to act very similarly to the old ones including the insane armor, I'm not sure I like
- Interceptors and Scouts have a ridiculous pew pew sound effect instead of the awesome gatling gun sound from before
- All the big guns (corvette and up) still make the awesome sound from before.
- Ships use the HW2 voices for radio chatter
So I'm not able to afford the game, yet. Hopefully I can on the 27th. If not, it might take me more than a month.
Was so waiting for it too.
there's no reason to even use fighters. corvettes are super inexpensive and are double pretty much everything in fighter statistics
i really like the game but my units get thrown all over the map and it's impossible to keep track of them. i really don't like how they don't stay together like they used to. formations do practically nothing since they only stay in formation when they're not doing anything
I forgot how OP salvage vets were in the hw1 campaign
whole fleet is just a patchwork of captured ships atm

In my brief play session, yeah I'm gonna have to agree. My Interceptors got shot down like flies against a swarm of Light Corvettes. Hell, I've watched even Assault Frigates pick apart Interceptors.
I'm also way, way less organized in HW1R than I am in HW1 or HW2, and I think it's because formations don't work anymore. In HW1 it was easy to mentally keep track of the different formations flying around, but now it's all a disorganized mess. I use the group keys constantly, but even with that I had a really hard time. Units often just wander off. In HW1 it was kind of a problem how passive the units would sometimes be, but this is the opposite extreme.

[sp]MULTI-BEAM FRIGATES[/sp]
So Remastered might have a few kinks left to iron out (getting your salvage corvettes to Football-tackle things head-on seems to net you a capture 100% of the time), but goddamn if it isn't one of the prettiest things ever.

That depth of field effect I tried briefly and found it to be very graphically intensive, it's also quite jarring on small ships. Glad it's disabled by default.
Unfortunately, it seems like they really didn't do a thing to the original Homeworld except make sure it boots up.
The cinematics have weird lines going through them and the game itself seems to run like ass while also running at super speed, yikes.
Yeah you'll have to go and tweak it to make it work right.
Overall, it's pretty good, but it doesn't feel like Homeworld. It feels like Homeworld the mod inside of Homeworld 2, but that's to be expected.
Disappointed formations don't work at all and tactics are still pointless.
Luckily, you can still play as a magpie. Downside is you can't salvage past the unit cap.
I'm sort of disappointed that I can't choose 1080p when using window mode. Tried changing it in PLAYERCFG.LUA but it just defaults to 1775x999 or some shit. Also seem to be getting some weird audio cackling too.
oh no not the asteroid field mission, almost made it and then right at the end
[t]http://3kv.in/~techbot/ShareX/2015/02/25/2015-02-25_00002.jpg[/t]
:suicide:
Well fuck Gearbox, you can't actually go full Magpie mode. Salvage Corvettes have a cap of either 14 or 16
Looks like no borderless window mode :/
I stole the Taiidan Carrier on mission 5. After capture, it vomited out interceptors that had been docked. That's kind of hilarious.
Looks like no borderless window mode :/
It's possible to use it via 3rd party programs. Only problem is that you need to put the game in window mode which defaults to whatever is lower and you're unable to really get it to your monitor res.
Hopefully with the new modding tools and scripting capabilities people can maybe eventually make tactics and formations work like homeworld classic
