Oh, that's easy. Community and Self-Made items use the same color and unusual effect, so unless you hover over your Wiki Cap or inspect it in-game, it looks like a self-made and thus as if you created it.

I've never considered going back after leaving for so long- I'm too afraid to see what happened while I was away. Is this irrational, or am I not the only one?
It's irrational because New Leaf is as punishing as sneezing.
Villagers will go "huh you've been gone for [length] well hope to see ya more often then that next time :)" and that's it.

I swear to fuck, every single time I come back to visit, someone's plopped a house down right on top of the carefully laid-out and thoughtfully-designed pathways I set down throughout the village. I connected every house, business, and common area with bush/flower-lined paths just for some IDIOT to set a house down right on top of a three-way intersection. Of course this also kills all plants in that area.

It's so true. When I go back to any other AC, my mailbox is stuffed with depressing goodbye letters and everyone else cannot BELIEVE that it's me, they all thought I died to death, etc.
In New Leaf, you practically aren't even the real mayor since absolutely nobody cares that you were gone for a year.

Wait so you can legit win them even if you didn't play on that board?
It only works on machines that wobble when they're first pulled up, and you can only claim the badge if you have a play active be it the freeplay you earn or from paying.
Good one that tilts right now is the Timmy and Tommy one, can get a lot.
