Probably a bit late, but I just beat the Shovel Knight DLC, and I'm looking up the soundtrack online and see something that wasn't in the game:
Just got Xenoblade, and I already knew the graphics were awful, but I didnt know they were going to THIS awful. And everyone is British!! And they wont stop screaming!
I'm wondering what's wrong with me because while Xenoblade was never a graphical power house I'd never call them awful. There's some hilariously awkward looking spots but I actually thought it was a (mostly) pretty game for how big it was. Also the British VA own, if you want to hate yourself play as Reyn and jump around a lot.
So people who hacked their 3ds, what are you even using it for? The only reason I could see use in it is for the option to play out of region games. Emulation was a no go for me beacuse pretty much every game I wanted to play had some kind of issue with it. And the homebrew games available are (to me) uninteresting. Whats the point of doing a system downgrade or having custom firmware?
I'm mostly using it to do emulation (it's really handy for trips if you have no other portable device) since people gotten retroarch running on it. I also do misc dev work however that hasn't gotten anywhere. I don't have have any out of region games to play, so that feature is useless for me. A system downgrade is only for people who want to use CFW (custom firmware) because there is a lot of CFW's available for 9.2 and below. With custom firmware you can do lots of stuff: 1. Piracy 2. Everything else you can do with userland homebrew 3. Did I mention piracy? Well, that's the only use I can see it for :v:
Another use for a hacked 3DS (mostly why I hacked mine, other reason is emulation on the go) is stuff like 3DS romhacks. So stuff like NSMB2 custom levels, randomized Pokemon runs, english translations of japan only games, etc. Also you can take ingame screenshots of any game any time, no miiverse required.
shits starting to get real for downgrading, personally im waiting until a new 16 GB miniSD arrives to downgrade/10.3 downgrading even arrives as right now i just think 9.9 or something can only do it. also ive been trying to use a checker to see if downgrading is applicable for your system, but it either freezes on map complete when trying to use it on ironhax (unless i launch another homebrew app first, then it returns exploit success), and with menuhax it does the same thing except returns exploit failure. at no point have i ever gotten DEADCAFE either :/

im on N3DSXL
As a aside I've been hearing that downgrading and running some of this stuff will just straight up brick your system no questions asked so uh, I'd suggest really looking into it
smart people wait a day or two to see what the dumbasses did wrong to brick themselves
Just got a New3DSXL, haven't owned a nintendo console since Gameboy SP. It seems like the 3d is abit awkward? Have to find a sweetspot with the screen distance and the 3D slider, is there some sort of self hypnosis or way i'm meant to be viewing the screen? Also I bought Bravely Default and MH4, but when I got home Bravely Default wasnt in my bag... I should be able to get another copy with the receipt I have right? Bought from JB-Hi-Fi. I put the games in my bag in store.
you shouldnt have to fuck with the slider at all but there is a certain distance to view it from, yeah theres some sorta 3D correction thing in the settings you could try
Maybe I am 3D blind (?) but I never really noticed much difference when playing with 3D or without it. In fact all it did to me is make me dizzy.
3d oddly works best on games like the 3d remakes of classics - kirby's adventure in 3d is an absolute joy to play because its like playing a storybook
The 3D in some games are really lacking. I remember my first time playing OOT with 3d and the introductory scene with the great deku tree looked amazing.
I have tried it with a bunch of games that were pretty much made for the 3D feature (such as Cave Story 3D) but in the end it was the same as if I played with the 3D off. Actually the only game where I actually did notice the 3D was on Face Raiders, a game already preloaded on all 3DS systems.
I use the 3D in nearly every game I play, mostly for the same reasons I go to IMAX 3D releases of action movies, its just a bit more immersive. Unnecessary sure but still kinda neat. I have to turn it off on some games like Pokemon or MGS because it tanks the frame rate though
Is there some sort of calendar schedule or "predictions" for nintendo badge arcade or does it go on its own rather than replicating the Japanese events one year later? I'm only interested in the Nikki badges and a few of the Wario Ware ones and it'd be nice to be able to tell when do those sets drop.
So apparently someone released a way to downgrade your 3DSes Firmware to 9.2 using homebrew in order to install Custom Firmware and pirate games. Cue tons of people bricking their N3DS because it apparently doesn't like being downgraded at all :v:
i bricked my o3DS because i used the update files for the n3DS. it was entirely my fault, but now i can't afford to buy another
Did you try going into recovery mode? If you haven't, you need to hold A+R+L+Up, then turn on the power while still holding the buttons.

Right, so, in my infinite wisdom, when I was trying to split the NAND I ran the system restore from the emuNAND instead of the sysNAND. And now all the games that were on my SD card are gone. Any idea how to get those back? I have full backups of my SD card from every point in this process, but when I try to drop them onto the SD card the games don't display. I'm thinking it has something to do with the system memory itself.
Yes, my actual legit e-shop games. I figured it out, though. I've split my emuNAND from my sysNAND using TinyFormat, and now I've updated my emuNAND to 10.3 so I can redownload my eShop games from the store. I have literally been up all night working on this, but I think I'm getting close.
Gonna wait until there's a 100% retarded-proof way of downgrading before I attempt it.
Downgrading is the easy part. It's fighting with the emuNAND software that's difficult.
Since I never really understood console hacking I think I'd rather stick with homebrewing and emulation. I don't want to accidentally turn my beloved N3DS XL into a pretty blue thin brick.
Miiverse shitposting isn't as fun as I thought it would be.
Miiverse shitposting isn't as fun as I thought it would be.
I spoke too soon. One of my shitposts was on the newest Miiverse is Hell GPM stream.
sysUpdater is hardest part for this custom 3ds shit for me it just wont load. it freezes when it loads the menu and it wont go any further. it doesnt brick my old 3ds or anything edit: uploaded another sysupdater, it finally shows the reason why its failing now to fully make it work
sysUpdater is the bane of my life. I've got the exact same problems you're describing. Please do share if you find a fix xxx
install menuhax using the installer in the homebrew launcher (use browserhax or whatever to get there) then run it (turn off 3ds after installing, hold L trigger, then turn on while holding L trigger) and use sysupdater, it's currently downgrading now first try. edit: and it works fully, back to 9.2.0. now to figure out how to cfw. sucks im doing this on my old 3DS XL tho, i dont want to risk possible bant from nintendo with my nintendo id since i bought games and stuff on it. edit 2: then again i could just unlink my acct from it and get/borrow from friends games i own since all my save data was wiped from the previous migration and i dont feel comfy enough to start all over again. its not like im losing anything. not to mention club Nintendo doesnt exist anymore
