See I called it and nobody listened. I said there is no way it would run on the old 3DS. But surely they can't release it like that
Sure would be nice if they'd moved around at all during the video

wow, thats honestly just embarrassing. why didn't they just make it n3ds exclusive?

I'm willing to bet they planned on N3DS only, but realized they could get more sales if they tried to make it work on the regular 3DS as well. Unfortunately, doesn't seem like it worked out.
Pretty much the only reason. More sales.
That was the point of putting it on another hardware entirely. We were all fooled by them, thinking they had optimized it for the 3DS.
A N3DS only would have hurt the sales and probably would have been pointless. I just hope that anyone playing it on the 3DS, that the timer is coded to the framerate cause it's going to be hell during timed missions otherwise.
why didn't they just make it n3ds exclusive?
Probably because the only N3DS exclusive, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, didn't even sell half a million worldwide.
Not to mention caused a ton of confusion and returns at my gamestop. Can't even being to describe how many people came in upset because they bought the game only to find out it doesn't work on their model, because reading the cover is hard I guess.

Honestly, I can't blame the customers too much on that one. Unless you're a nerd like us who frequents online sites about games, it's very unclear what exactly the differences between DS systems are. The naming system is incredibly dumb. "New Nintendo 3DS" is such a vague and confusing name, just like Wii U. The 3DS and N3DS look nearly identical at a glance, so with such a similar name it isn't apparent that they're different systems with different capabilities.
I feel like Sony is the only one who got it right in this gen with console names. It's your own fault if you don't understand the progression from PS2 to PS3 to PS4. However, I could forgive you for being confused by Xbox 360 to Xbox One. Nintendo should go back to the days of giving each console a unique name, like GameCube.

I have a feeling the NX will have it's own name, especially after the wii u fiasco. The current president hinted at such a development, as he was the one who said that the Wii U name would hurt more than it would help.
Speaking of the NX, will we see info about it in february? That's the 3rd quarter business meeting for Nintendo, after all, and it'd be silly to not even hint at it. I'm willing to bet that's where they'll announce NX news for E3.
Eh, those Hyrule Warriors framerates didn't seem as bad as Snake Eater 3D. Was happy once I got my New 3DS hacked so I could use HANS to make the game smooth but it turns out they capped the framerate at 20FPS, it still lags, and the c-stick doesn't work in HANS mode.
Damn, it's Dead Rising on the Wii all over again.
Probably a long shot, but anyone out there still playing Animal Crossing New Leaf with an axe to spare?
Damn, it's Dead Rising on the Wii all over again.
oh no a horde of 12 zombies

It's about as bad as I expected. Honestly the fact that they got it to run at all is kind of impressive to me. It reminds me of Resident Evil on Game Boy Color or some first person shooters on Game Boy Advance. Runs pretty badly but the fact that it plays at all is kind of impressive to me.
That said I think it was pretty shitty of Nintendo to only show N3DS footage and not have full disclosure about the original 3DS version.

the n3ds is what the 3ds should of been from the beginning
link is laying down on a barely textured feels, blood coming from his mouth
"my frames... m-my frames" he cries as king dodongo jitters over to him and falls over crushing the heros spine.

It's just a shame the hardware didn't exist at a decent price point in 2009-2010.

Don't forget that the 3DS originally retailed for 250 United States Dollars too.

What? The Vita has the same specs as the N3DS and was at the same price at the 3DS. Nintendo always does this. Introduce crap model, price drop, XL, then new model.
Sony probably sold vitas at a loss when it came out.
Also the Vita came out a year later.
Also the vita is dead as shit now.
Fire Emblem Fates is getting a N3DS design in the states, it's not the same as the one in Japan
It looks super nice in my opinion.
But it won't contain a copy of the game.
Also, 18$ Map Pack 1, grand.

At the time the 3DS would have been developed, the quad-core A9 would have been a very high end CPU. Like stuff you would stick in a $700 device. Let's put it this way. The iPhone in 2011 only had a dual core A9. The specs on the 3DS would have been finalized at the very latest mid-2010. The original 3DS had a very typical mid-range smartphone CPU for that time. Which by the way, were not fast. :v:
Your not totally wrong that they definitely made sure they could sell it at a profit, but they weren't exactly pushing for as low as they could go. Trust me, they could have gone cheaper.
I'm late, but Fangz posted last page about the situation with the special edition FE: Fates.
Kinda disappointed, I placed an order within the beginning of December. Sorry to anyone else that met the same fate
Have you been called about it yet?
I haven't seen a single person say that their order was canned so I'm just waiting for that.

No, actually. Which I thought was kind of strange. I've had no notice whatsoever about it being cancelled or anything, just going off based on what I saw here.
Maybe there's hope? I've been super excited for this.

Also here's some changes on the 3DS version
-Level Cap is reverted back to 99
-Toon Link and Ruto are unlocked via Adventure Mode
-Twili Midna and the others now have heart pieces and are integrated into Legend/Adventure mode now
-There are level 4 weapons that do 500 damage and have 7 slots starting out
-Master Sword has 2 new skills alongside Evil's Bane
-Legend Mode lets you level up every character in battle, for example in the first map you can swap to zelda while running around and she starts at level 1
-The new story and adventure map are exclusive to the 3DS, they aren't transferable after all.
