Just wondering, I haven't played a Fire Emblem game before but I really want to get into one.
Do I have to buy any other Fire Emblem games to understand the story in awakening? Or does it explain itself.
I wouldn't want to be jumping into the middle of the series story or something.
You can, but I don't think you should. Play FE1 and FE3 (3 contains 1) or their DS remakes at the very least. They're the games starring Marth, and they take place on the same continent as Awakening. Maybe play FE2 also, but that one has less direct relevance.
I cant believe i didnt get a code for Monster Hunter. Nintendo always sent me codes for everything. :'(
the cut scenes in mh4u are in 60fps while the gameplay is probably like 30
it's really jarring when it switches so suddenly
What the fuck nintendo, all the bosses have eyes on them.
God damnit.

They're apparently [sp]new weakpoints for players that want to attack them through more than just one method.[/sp]
And I'd argue they make thematic sense too, since those bosses are [sp]four apparitions residing within four formerly sacred masks, tainted by Majora's influence and turned into horrible monsters to assist in sealing the giants[/sp], IIRC.

Good because I enjoy giving Ghot a Goron spike butt plug too much to change things now.
Hopefully there is an option to turn them off.
I really want one of these new 3DS's. I'm going to wait though and hope that some better colors/bundles come out.
Hopefully there is an option to turn them off.
There isn't.
Just don't attack them if you want to fight the boss the old way, it's just there as an additional spot to target if you don't like how finicky the old way was (Gyorg...)
I'm really wondering if the new features on the New 3DS are really worth it. I mean, I can trade in my old 3DS for $80 at Gamestop, but then I'm paying $120 for the C-stick, L2 & R2, faster processor, and the face tracking 3D. Bonus if I can get the Majora's Mask version. AND I still have to pay for MM itself.
What are your guys' opinions on it? Are there some other features I'm forgetting?

It's already out in Australia.
It is quite stiff, wouldn't be good to use as a second joystick, but it works quite well in Smash Bros.
I've only had Smash Bros for a few days now and I haven't really played any other Smash games, but when I hit the c-stick in different directions I seem to be able to charge attacks or something.
It's kind of like a nubbin on an old laptop.
It's a bit difficult to use since it's so small, but it's definitely better than not having any second stick at all.
The buttons are more responsive, the screens are bigger (Atleast on the non-xl version, which I have), the device is lighter and the battery life seems to last a bit longer.
I like the plates because they're metallic and a lot harder to get dirty.
Overall, apart from the exclusive games (which aren't out yet), I wouldn't consider upgrading unless you bought an XL and want to get something that will fit into your pocket easier.
There aren't any Standard New 3DS screen protectors out so I had to cut out some 3DS XL screen protectors. Didn't work so well.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend getting it unless you don't have a 3DS yet or you really like Xenoblade.

I never got why so many people complained about Gyorg. Just target it, hit it with the zora boomerangs, swim down next to it while it is stunned, and use the electric shields.

If you hadn't yet mastered snapping the camera from a previous playthrough and one or more playthroughs of OoT before it, actually pointing yourself at it while in the water can border on torture. Sometimes even finding exactly where it is after hitting it with the boomerangs can take a second or two, usually if it's close to the platform.
Not to mention the boomerangs would constantly get caught on the lip of the platform, and you'd have to put yourself RIGHT on the edge half the time.

There's nothing wrong with the boss itself, but MM's mechanics and camera just made it clunky as all hell. It didn't feel thoroughly tested.

I saw a playthrough earlier today where they just stood on the platform edge with no mask, stunned it with an arrow, jumped in with the Zora mask on and charged into Gyorg with the shield, then got back up to repeat the process. Repetitive, but it worked.
I've never had issues with that fish boss

got this one to my friend who was sad over not having a code. thanks!
Fascinating. It doesn't appear to modify the firmware in any way.
What it seems to do instead is it uses the data execution service Download Play has access to (used to run sent 3DS download demos), triggers an overflow in the browser that lets arbitrary code be run in the background from an implanted file on the SD card, and while that service is still available, hijack and trick the Download Play service into thinking the executable in the game cart directory is received software from another system by temporarily changing the part of the filesystem it's reading from (they are the same filetype, presumably), and forcing it to launch the game from the cart.
Smealum is going to be releasing a region free solution for old 3DSs on FW 9.0-9.4, and all you'll need is an internet connection(it uses a browser exploit apparently).

old firmware? That's the firmware I have and I usually keep my 3DS updated.
I have the original 3DS.

Am I the only person that would z target then pop him with an arrow then electro sheild him? Gyorg is piss easy like that.
Hang on, Anouma said they would give us information on N3DS exclusive features, where are they?
We thought it was the camera on the c-stick but apparently not as the circlepad pro can be used for it.

This is awesome, I'd definitely buy that. I hope they won't keep it Japan-exclusive just because it sold poorly worldwide.
I was always under the impression the Saturn was an useless part between the MegaDrive and the Dreamcast but it turns out it's actually a really great system and has some top-quality games. They just all stayed in Japan :v:
Also random question, but I guess the New 3DS can't find your face and adjust the 3D when you're playing in the dark?
Heck, it had some of the best arcade ports of the time on it. Some of them are STILL superior to even recent PC rereleases.
Also to answer your question, I believe the face tracking uses IR grid projection (emitted from the little dot to the right of the camera), so it still works even in very low light, or at least it should.
By the way, the eyes on the bosses in MM3D aren't easy mode. Odwala's boss fight is entirely changed. [sp]He's now invincible to sword strikes. You must become Deku Link and fly over his head and bomb his head/eye[/sp]
The rumor of it being a different thing just isn't true. During the bull fight you ram him and he falls over and the eye pops out to get attacked etc etc
Is the n3ds xl still not available on amazon us?

I can find the mm3d one but not the standard
So the eye thing in all the old bosses is probably going to be a way for them to explain how they more or less work for Majora?
Like, they being controlled or some shit. If I remember, which I don't well since I played and beat MM when I was 12, weren't each of the bosses(or at least Odalwa and Goht) originally "good"?

They were all good originally.

The whole thing was Majora putting corrupt masks on them or something along those lines and making them seal away the giants.
It shows new stuff, including a brand new ability to the Giant Mask for the Twinmold fight.
It's.. unexpected.

We know about the whip swing but look how he fights as a Giant. @1:53 They changed that too.

What the MM New 3DS? Yeah that sold out within hours. I was lucky enough to snag one though.
