Im more worried about everyone except corrin going down in 1 hit, when there's 12 enemies on-screen (8 of which are mages!)
Okay apparently any deaths before chp 6 don't count. Don't quote me on that though.
Any idea when Europeans are going to get Fates on the E-Shop?
Or is it still unknown?
I'll just consider the lack of replies as "unknown", I played Fire Emblem once and never touched the franchise again but I really want to give Birthright a chance since I'm hearing some good stuff about Fates in general.
I just read up on Phoenix mode, and oh god how terrible at FE can you be to need this?
[editline]20th February 2016[/editline]
Wish me luck guys, I'm about to brave the wilds to see if I can get the Special Edition. It's a battlefield out there.
I just read up on Phoenix mode, and oh god how terrible at FE can you be to need this?
I believe the reviewer at Gamespot gave much more difficult Conqest a whole point score than Birthright because he couldn't handle the difficulty. There are plenty of people out there that need that game mode.
Well, the Special Edition of FE:F sold out and I couldn't get one. The shop here didn't do a pre-order because the stocks were incredibly limited. On the other hand I've been playing Conquest for a bit now and it's amazing how much of a difference taking away grinding can make. So far I haven't lost anyone on Hard Classic, but damn if Arthur isn't a fucking crit magnet.
That new pokemon super mystery dungeon just came out in Australia. Is it any good?
You can be ambivalent towards something and still buy it. There's things I didn't care for or like about the Xenoblade X localization but I didn't consider them to detract from the game enough to not buy it, for instance.
well the cycle isn't going break if you keep buying it despite protesting against it. I'm not really a fan or playing or supporting a inferior product. You can also buy the Japanese game with all the content in tact and then use Hans to play the fan translation.
but hey I guess if you guys want FE to be like that then be my guest, good thing I'm not a fan of FE I suppose.

Neither am I but it changes from the big pool of adventure games I usually buy. My experience with the series is literally Lyn's story on the GBA and Awakening, with Fates soon to be added.
I would be much more bummed if the gameplay was somehow gimped between versions but here's the thing: it isn't. Both JP and NA versions are equal in that department.
Petting was restricted to waking up the S support. Okay, whatever, it didn't affect the gameplay at all since support is built on the battlefield at a faster rate. It was an optional thing to do.
VA's direction was shady, a lot of them sound off and the lack of dual audio is a weird decision. You have a Voice slider. Use it. And they will probably release a free DLC to add the original audio.
Calling it inferior on specific points, yes. VA is definitely a weak part that I agree with. But as a whole? Nah.
It's like complaining about the story in a fighting game. That's not the big attraction of that type of game! It's the gameplay, the variety of fighters, the smooth silky 60fps performance, etc. Only a niche part really cares about the story.
You need a massive following and a mess of a port/game (e.g.: Batman Arkham City on PC) to really push a dev to rethink its decisions. Otherwise, most people will buy the game because they want to play it.
But you have your standards and it's perfectly fine. Everyone has a different way to review and opinions about things in life. Mine are a lot lower if you haven't guessed. I stopped being a nitpicky person a few years ago because my goal when I buy a game now is to primarily have fun. Xenoblade X also had a similar criticism but hell if I care. Clocked 80 hours and still having a blast.

This is a very funny post.
Well he's not wrong, the localization will keep being shit if they keep selling like hot cakes.
but hey I guess if you guys want FE to be like that then be my guest, good thing I'm not a fan of FE I suppose.
I don't want FE to be like Fates OR Awakening but my not-purchasing them isn't gonna do much.
Still, either the problems you have with the game aren't so severe that they detract more than what the game provides in enjoyment, or you drop the series like an ugly baby and move on to greener pastures.
The localisation of a game should certainly be a factor of whether or not you want to buy it, but it shouldn't be the only factor.
If you were on the fence about buying, not buying the game or even just waiting a little longer until you've properly made up your mind makes sense.
But if you really wanted the game, not buying it solely because of localisation seems silly, unless the alterations made fundamentally change what it is you liked about the game.
Well he's not wrong, the localization will keep being shit if they keep selling like hot cakes.
But if the game does poorly, Nintendo won't see it as poorly received localization. It'll be "There isn't interest in this franchise anymore"

Pretty much this. "Oh it sold poorly guess you won't get it at all because there's no profit."
And to be frank I've seen worse then removing pointless pandering.
My special edition pre order was cancelled because GameStop is an excellent business.
all gamestops here are closing in march so i have to resort to best buy if i want to buy at a physical store. it kinda sucks, we have no game dedicated stores anymore, ill end up moving to amazon entirely
I have grown so attached to the concealed weapon class in Fire Emblem Fates. Debuffs are a wonderful boon to have on higher difficulties. I know that debuffs aren't just limited to throwing weapons but, they effect three stats at once.

i switched over to hard classic from lunatic classic just because the difficulty of lunatic is fucking manic and nigh unbeatable without perfect placement + a bit of RNGeezus's blessings
Hard mode seems just a tad too easy, but im still only on like chapter 9 so maybe it ramps up from there!
Uuuuuhh so apparently Nintendo reblogged one of my Miiverse doodles on their Tumblr page.

I did not expect this. Wish it was one of my better Miiverse doodles, though.

I pity the FE fanbase really, it's kind of like seeing a woman stick up for her abusive husband.

No, that is relationship between the Sonic fanbase and SEGA.

Probably because it's shitposting.

You really seem to like that word whenever you don't agree with someone on the whole Fates controversy.
Especially since you're one to talk:

Nah, when you A: Complain about a game you have 0 interest in for the sake of complaining and B: Compare a localization that you dislike to domestic abuse that's pretty much shitposting to me.
Me saying the post is funny is because of the reason at the top of the page about how if people protest or anything it won't mean "Next time they'll HAVE to give us a perfect 1:1 game with my dream voice cast" but instead mean "There's no interest, hope you can pirate whatever."
E: Clarity sake I respond so much because it's obnoxious to see people talking about it and have one guy lean in going "y'know I don't care about the game but if I did I'd feel fucked, don't you feel fucked over? Huh?"

AKA expressing opinions and making jokes? Just because you don't agree with or like a post doesn't mean it's a "shitpost". A shitpost is one that contributes nothing to the thread and is made intentionally to derail discussion and/or rile people up. None of the people you keep calling out as shitposters or replying sarcastically to have done anything like that.

I don't really understand the first paragraph, but the latter, people who aren't fans leaning in to say something, is still not shitposting. It's just an outsider's opinion based on what they've heard.

So exactly what a guy did?
I pity the FE fanbase really, it's kind of like seeing a woman stick up for her abusive husband.
Like uhhhh Shugo??
There's a point where people talked about it pre-release, discussion about it was free whatever and it's cool to not like the game or not agree with the choices made! I myself have gone on record saying I'm not really pleased with some choices.
The thing is the games out and people now have it in their hands are talking about it, having someone lean in and go "I pity you guys" doesn't add anything. It's noise. If it was a post that's along the lines of "I don't like the translation, they lost a sale." then sure whatever but dude come on that isn't a opinion posted.
Deep discussion about shitposting ITT
So apparently there was one delayed shipment of the SE of FE:F, it arrives on Thursday so that's my last chance to get it, and it just so happens that my uni cancelled classes for that day.
And once again, I dive into the fray.
On the topic of the actual game, for people with actual choice and decided to do Nohr first what was your reasoning? I kinda figured I'd let the story try to sway me and I literally had 0 interest in going that route once the first few chapters ended.
Spoilers for before the split [sp]Seriously, Baby Munching Evil Dad has tried to kill me like 3-4 times in the intro alone and the best Xander could do is "Uh maybe he'll forgive you?" Like Xander seems like the type of guy to have absolutely no free will of his own.[/sp]
So exactly what a guy did?
Seemed like a pretty typical joke to me, I thought it was alright. It's on-topic and it doesn't seem to be made to incite derailment. Fangz made the exact same followup joke about the Sonic fanbase right after that, but that one's okay?
Like uhhhh Shugo??
I don't have mine yet, but I'm already committed to Nohr first. Everyone says it has a god-awful plot and the game makes Nohr out to be the literal bad guys constantly, but I like the character designs on that side a lot more. That and my fiancee is going Hoshido, so I figured I'd do the opposite one to make for interesting conversations.
