Its not even locked behind amiibos, just you can unlock a different one using a amiibo. Compared to the Smash render, the new Dedede amiibo looks pretty bad (although its only his mouth, but it sticks out like a sore thumb)
Strange, I'm looking at mine right now and everything looks perfect.

Nah, talking about the smash one. [editline]4th March 2016[/editline] Oh woops I somehow skimmed over the "new" in the sentence

i hope the hyrule warriors legends dlc concentrates more on the portable zeldas and groose
Linebeck please as a playable character along with Vaati
I really don't understand how they can claim the old 3ds can't emulate snes decently enough. We have 2 N64 games that were remade with higher resolution textures that work on it, but emulating the console before is too hard? That really doesn't make sense. I feel like it is a ploy to sell the newer model, like someone else here said.
Yuga would be a nice addition. [sp]I still hope for Malon.[/sp]
Lets be fair here, the remakes would have been retooled over the course of a long time to run at a lower resolution.
I suppose that is a valid point. I guess I'm just a bit upset that not everyone will be able to play these games that want to. I just want everyone to enjoy the games I love, regardless of which 3ds they got.

You need hardware that's more than just "better by some margin" to accurately emulate an older game console. Old consoles like SNES and N64 have lots of non-standard hardware with quirks that just don't translate to newer consoles. The N64 remakes are just that - remakes. They were rebuilt from the ground up to work specifically on 3DS. You couldn't just drop Ocarina of Time's N64 ROM onto a 3DS and have it work. It takes much more powerful hardware to properly emulate old game consoles, because it needs to simulate all the quirks of the original hardware. This is an oversimplification, but think of it this way: Perfectly accurate SNES emulation takes about 3GHz of processing power to achieve. The original 3DS has only 268MHz. That's about 9% of the required power for perfect SNES emulation, and on top of emulating the SNES it also has to run the Home Menu system software at the same time. To achieve acceptable SNES emulation on original 3DS, it would take a lot of programming shortcuts and "hacks" to get games working, and even then there would be numerous inconsistencies with the original console's performance. There's already a homebrew SNES emulator that you can try running on original 3DS, and its performance ranges from subpar to unplayable depending on the game. The New 3DS is capable of 804MHz with double the RAM of the old 3DS. That's still not a lot, but it's a hell of a lot more than the original 3DS. SNES VC games on N3DS have already been proven to have some minor slowdown here and there, so it's still far from perfect. But the point is that the games are playable with decent accuracy and acceptable amounts of performance issues. If it was anything less, it wouldn't be worth selling.
You can, but not very well. Nintendo has high standards for Virtual Console performance, so they wouldn't release something that didn't run comparably to the original system. The extra CPU power of the New 3DS was probably what gave them enough room to comfortably emulate SNES with high-quality results. I've tried the current homebrew SNES emulator that's out there for 3DS, and while it's playable, it has many noticeable issues (even in the simpler games like SMW). The regular 3DS just can't handle it, not unless you modify and rebuild the games to work properly on the less-powerful hardware, which is what M2 did with the Sega 3D Classics series. Such effort made for every single SNES game would make it impossible to keep up a decent release schedule.
They can't do that already. [editline]4th March 2016[/editline]
Linebeck please as a playable character along with Vaati
Linebeck is the most necessary out of all of them, god damn it
Well then, I guess I learned something today about emulation. I wouldn't mind a full remake of Super Metroid. I just really want more Metroid games, the last one we got was awful, and the new federation whatever one doesn't look promising. Let's go back to the roots of metroid with a 2d game based on exploration and the smallest trace of a story. It's my favorite Nintendo series and it gets the least love.
Here's what happens when you force an SNES N3DS VC game to run as if it was on an original 3DS. [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/lndkov.mp4[/vid] Results: Holy Slowpoke in molasses
http://operationrainfall.com/2016/03/03/total-control-ep-66-bravely-default-changes/
"Now we did reach out to Nintendo- we had Benny do it- now they have yet to answer us on whether those changes that we heard about in the European version were also present in the North American version, but when I talked to a Square-Enix PR representative they told me that Nintendo is responsible for the localisation of Bravely Second." "They said that they were responsible for handling the game, to be exact." "Yes."
Darn, halfway through the Direct I suddenly realised I was watching the NA Direct instead of the European one. So I ended up watching the NA one first, and the EU one this morning. It's super weird, I was kinda underwhelmed yesterday, but somehow I feel a lot more hyped for everything after seeing the EU Direct. For some reason it also felt like the EU Direct showed a bit more information, footage and was paced better. Or maybe I just have an EU bias :v: Nonetheless, I can't believe how much good stuff the 3DS is getting. Monster Hunter X/Generations is coming to the west this summer, we get a ton of RPG's in the form of Yo-Kai Watch (which also had a trailer in the EU Direct), Dragon Quest VII, Pokémon S&M and Bravely Second, Fates is finally coming to Europe in May, we get a new Rhythm Paradise in the west, Gunvolt 2 looks cool too and the new Kirby game looks awesome. Heck, even Federation Force looks a bit promising, if you can forgive the god-awful artstyle. I don't know if I can buy all of this stuff help
So this might explain Federation Force:
- Kensuke Tanabe and Retro Studios are allegedly no longer on good terms - this info comes from someone at a certain Nintendo studio who has worked with him before and two other close sources - Tanabe would often explode with great passion on certain designers when they made mistakes or challenged him - these devs described him as a competent creative and leader; albeit a fiery personality - Tanabe has either co-produced or produced every last project for Retro prior to their newest one - certain employees at Retro were unhappy after working with him on Tropical Freeze - this lead to the subsidiary's management appealing to NCL regarding the matter - around the time of Tanabe's leave in 2014, Retro had apparently begun to seek a greater level of autonomy from NCL - a certain NCL member responded to these requests by removing Tanabe and assigning a new NCL producer in his place - this new producer may be Yoshio Sakamoto, but this is very unconfirmed - first rumblings of Tanabe leaving Retro come as far back as late 2014
That's 100% bullshit lol. The guys track record is complete trash.
That's 100% bullshit lol. The guys track record is complete trash.
I don't think it is 100% bullshit, Liam does seem to have inside sources when it came to Nintendo, and has gotten some stuff right. I wouldn't pass it as 100% truth either though, but as something inbetween.

Why do I have the feeling this will become his new Final Smash when Smash 5 happens?
It looks a little to clunky feeling for my tastes.
Ever play Megaman X? It really does look like they lifted the Ride Armor wholesale.
I hope the suit is used for entire levels and isn't just some "WOA HYPER TIME!!!!" Powerup at the end of every other stage

[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/lndkov.mp4[/vid] Results: Holy Slowpoke in molasses
What's making this so slow? Is their wrapper just that demanding? I could understand if they didn't want to release it if they were like the homebrew emulators with occasional drops but that speed is just ridiculous. In any case I'll be sticking with my GCW-Zero for playing SNES games on the go.

Most emulators on low end hardware use lots of shortcuts and hacks to get them to work at full speed. This is no exception on the 3DS. Difference is, Nintendo has the ability to fine tune it at a low level and knows what shortcuts they can get away with. And they were not satisfied with the o3DS results. Since your paying money for these, you kinda expect they will be faithful emulation of the originals, which the n3DS can handle. The n3DS has an almost 4x increase in clock speed which is huge for emulation.

Collectible Stickers confirmed?
Poison Kirby looks like a retouched Water Kirby. I like it, since Water was my favorite ability.
