Did Squenix even release a single FF on the VC on any console? I don't recall seeing any at all.
Yes, they've released lots....in Japan. :v:
Japanese 3DS has:
Famicom - FFI/II/III
Japanese Wii U has:
Famicom - FFI/II/III
Super Famicom - FFIV/V/VI and Mystic Quest
GBA - FFI&II/VI Advance and Chocobo Land
Surprisingly, they don't have Tactics Advance, which we do have in the west. Some of the mainline Final Fantasy games are technically on western Wii U via the Wii VC, but of course that only includes the official western releases of FFI/V/VI and Mystic Quest.
Wasn't FF I and II released on the 3DS in Japan, along with Explorers?
Only FFI. It's a remake based on the PSP version's style, but with 3D and touch screen support.

Just seeing and reading some of this is legitimately annoying me. It'd be cool for Nintendo of America to actually not kinda shit on us so much, not to mention something like FF1 on the 3DS would be a cool novelty to have, among the other games as VC titles, but Square-Enix hasn't been bothered so far.
For once it feels like the US is getting the shaft big time, but the average 3DS gamer in the US isn't even going to realize any of this since no one usually talks about it.
What are the chances it isn't fully NOA's fault? They still need to answer to the main headquarters in Japan.
Pretty low, NoA knows they don't have to put a lot of effort into selling things here so they just don't give a shit.
NoE knows that it has to put in a real effort so they get a ton of deals and things on time, at some point they completely 180'd
so apparently it's possible now to downgrade to 9.2 from 10.6 on O3DS

That compass is pretty neat.
Another limited edition that'll probably be exclusive to Nintendo NY in New York
I beat Bravely Second.
Its even better than default was, baring a slower beginning.
I found my copy of Advance Wars Dual Strike.
I forgot I had everything unlocked so laughed at Sami's dumb polka dotted purse thing.
I wonder if we will ever get a new Advance Wars title.
we'll get one right after Codename Steam 2: The Search for More Steam
[sp]fuck you i'd buy it[/sp]
The next Advance Wars will take cues from the success of the recent Fire Emblem games:
The entire game is about petting Sami.

get two COs together
they have a soldier baby
you send that baby off to war and it deals 1 damage to a battalion of tanks before getting blown up
you just make another baby to make up for every baby you lose because that's a legit strategy
"10/10 Advance Waifus provides non-stop babymaking action -IGN"

When a franchise is dying or staling, add fanservice.
Remember the new Metabots game?
Here, have a reminder: Link slight NSFW
i've been playing the 'first' gba fire emblem on the virtual console and found out that there was one before it that never came to the west (i think there's a fan translation)
is it worth going back to?
Well, if you like Smash, it's the one with Roy and is designed as a sequal for the first game that came to the west (as "Fire Emblem" GBA was a prequal).
I remember way back when in advance wars there was a map I was having trouble with. Bottom left was where you started and right above you was a black hole base thing you had to blow up to win. To do this though you had to go all the way to the right of the map to capture a port and deal with resistance on the way and all sorts of junk.
I couldn't beat it and after a few tries I looked up a gamefaqs guide because of course the CPU will act the same every time right?
Long story short I only got to make one boat in the port and was so strapped for cash I could only produce infantry. The boat got lowered to 4hp and just kinda paddled over to the objective, entire time I had to move it and whatnot I just clogged the street with soldiers and used them to slow the tanks approach so it was just this fucking disaster scene as kawaii little sprites blew up in a conga line.
When I won I recall the CO just being like "Wew that's proper tactics >: D"
so as someone with the old xl, would it be worth hacking mine? it seems the benefits are mostly for n3ds users.
Github user Normmatt dug through the 3DS VC release of Mario World and found a listing of potential SNES games to be released for the N3DS

Unless I wasn't paying attention I don't remember them announcing [sp]SMT, SFII, Earthbound, FF 5 and 6, Fire Emblem 1 and 2, and Dragon Quest 1+2 and 3.[/sp]
Earthbound is getting released along with SMW though.
I doubt they would release FF VI as a SNES VC game, considering they could release the superior GBA port.

I've seen it advertised in GAME over here in the UK.

Only if they fix the awful midi soundtrack.
My doubt is moreso in Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei and Dragon Quest.
Or rather, ever seeing those in the US store, and probably either lame or a complete and utter lack of equivalents. I can see Nintendo of Japan putting them up on their store sadly, although finally getting official english localizations of some games would be cool.
.. just don't have Treehouse doing the SNES FE games.

Meant to put in the United States
The list is definitely for Japan, especially since many of those were already officially announced in their Direct:

I'm psyched that Panel de Pon is in there, though.
[editline]dj[/editline]
Also very interesting that Picross NP is in there. They're finally going to do the Satelliview games?
Would be cool if BS Zelda was officially released
to this day it's still hard to take a name like BS Zelda seriously despite what it actually stands for
Even if it's obviously going to be Japan-only, BS Super Mario USA and BS Famicom Detective Club would be really nice, as they had exclusive audio recordings and CD-quality music that were only available by streaming at specific times with a Bandai Satellaview. Since they're not actually present in the console due to it just being a reception stream, there is literally no way for hackers to extract them, so the games have no music or voice acting at all. This leaves the Bandai Satellaview as one of the most incomplete older consoles/accessories since so much material was straight up non-archivable, leaving Nintendo and the radio stations as the only ones that actually have these recordings, with the only evidence of their existence being word-of-mouth and so-so VHS recordings of gameplay.
