Kind of the point of street pass.
I get about zero per day, been like that since I got my 3ds, small town problems heh.
Do you think they are going to drop Miitomo on us out of the blue or do you think they are going to announce a release date this week?
If I remember right Miitomo was going to drop in Japan in early March, and the a few other countries sometime in the last two weeks.

I don't bring my 3DS with me everywhere. Strangely sometimes (like once or twice every couple months) I get streetpasses anyway just from my apartment.
Well, you did it too, you sick fuck.
I wasn't there to go on the rides or even walk through the park.

They kept on trucking far past their initial goals (which was originally just a menu/battle text translation so impatient people could play the JP version) and long after the announcement of the official localization to create an actual competitor to the official one. This isn't the end of all the Fates patches from that team, either, if you go to Serenes Forest and read the actual post. They still intend on implementing some forthcoming fixes and it will be possible for people to add the missing supports themselves since the supports are largely translated already and widely available on pastebins. The "restoration" patches that bring back the censored/changed content will still happen, too. This is simply the end of the main fan translation for the JP version.

It says in the article that they're planning on finishing the support convos though, which makes me wonder: Isn't that like 95% of the entire game translated anyways then? The only stuff I noticed being untranslated apart from Support Convos are some Castle lines.
welp there goes my plans to play fates
Isn't there another project that's making a mod that fixes the more controversial changes?

The version I played had the story 100% translated. If they're doing the supports, then thats the entire game. It'll be well beyond playable. I guess what they're saying is, they're not doing the DLC?
I don't bring my 3DS with me everywhere. That happens to me time to time. Also man I wish Stella Glow had decent character design for all of the girls because that game is surprisingly fun if not a bit unpolished.
Isn't there another project that's making a mod that fixes the more controversial changes?
Dunno but I stick to my guns, I dont support idiotic localizations but I would support the series in general by obtaining a JP copy and applying a fan TL [editline]23rd March 2016[/editline]
I don't get it. Base game is done, and the only thing not finished are extra stuff like My Castle and some supports. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=56220&page=1
If you read through the Serenes Forest thread, they've now decided to not only release one last update with some fixes, but also to hand all their files over to a new team. I think it's safe to say that the fan translation isn't dead.

Fan translators are the heroes we need to save us from companies giving international audiences the middle finger i mean it took years but the AAI2 fan TL allowed us to experience one of the best games in the Ace Attorney series
I'm still waiting for a horror movie where someone notices their 3DS gets a streetpass, which is odd because they live in a rural area and it's late at night.
...I'm totally going to do something like that.
I wonder if the European localization of Fates will lean closer to the original script
Honestly I don't get why people would care either way as the writing is trash in both of em
Honestly I don't get why people would care either way as the writing is trash in both of em
Why have you been such a staunch defender of the localization all this time if you don't even like either version?
Why have you been such a staunch defender of the localization all this time if you don't even like either version?
What? I've been shitting on the story ever since I saw it myself. Like literally every post is me laughing at how bad it is. Going "I'm not getting it because the story isn't translated the way I want it to be!" is dumb to me because the story is dumb either way, the game would need to be completely redone to make it passable at best because Conquest is written like a advertisement for Revelations and Birthright is horribly generic white bread storytelling with no moral gray areas or anything that would be complex. It is quite literally "Corrin beats the bad guy the end" with nothing of substance in it. Revelations meanwhile spins it's wheels for half the game and has all the flaws of the previous ones. Like the game actually does have the backing that 3 different authors wrote the 3 different paths so it's kind of a mess when they're put into practice- there's stuff like the my castle creating gigantic plot holes and having no consistency, Lilith getting written out of the plot and having features cut, characters doing things that make -literally- no sense just due to the numerous rewrites... like a different translation isn't going to save this and hedging a choice to play the game on it is silly. Saying "I'm not getting it because I can't touch my waifu's face and make her tell me how great I am" or "my husbando won't tell me how he can't wait to fuck me THANKS NOA" is a different aspect entirely. The game itself is great. Like the part that matters where you move lil pixel dudes around and watch them flip at each other is fun and I like that. Everything else is just kinda bad. Hell I even typed up my thoughts in the FE thread on this c'mon.
What? I've been shitting on the story ever since I saw it myself. Like literally every post is me laughing at how bad it is.
It might be because, now that I think about it, I've been avoiding spoiler tags, so I could've missed some of your posts because I ran away from the black bars. My bad, in that case. The translation quality is a pretty huge element of the experience, so I can see why some people would opt for the fan translation over the official one if they have the choice. Nothing wrong with having more choices, and there's no denying that the fan translation work is impressive, even if you think the source material is bad. [editline]23rd March 2016[/editline]
Hell I even typed up my thoughts in the FE thread on this c'mon.
Don't be rude, please. I wasn't even aware that an FE general even existed. I think I looked for one a few months ago but couldn't find it, so I just assumed that the 3DS and Wii U threads were the home of FE discussion V:v:V
So... Sift, if I'd like to play Fates you recommend picking up Birthright? I somehow don't understand why it was made into two seperate games like Pokémon, with a third (and special) path if you fork over extra money.

Just kind of a "aw c'mon" type thing :v: But yeah it's a game that features scenes of King Garon literally sitting on his throne going "Hmm I sure do love being evil I can't wait to do something evil it's going to be so fun hahaha" The story is -really- not something you should be looking forward to in this game. The basic point of it is two kingdoms; one evil and one good. The thing is that Hoshido is literally perfect with no faults whatsoever and Nohr is baby-munching evil outside the 4 royals that love evil daddy dearest. In the prologue Evil Dad tries to kill you 3 times, blows up a innocent town killing women and children and literally raises a army of undead to try to kill more people with- meanwhile in Hoshido you're treated kindly and loved and everything is in self defense. When you choose to join Conquest Corrin literally goes "man iunno maybe dad was just confused he's always a nice guy I think??" As soon as you get back in the next cutscene King Garon orders you to die while spitting on your face and yelling "I HOPE YOU SUFFER BWA HA HA I AM EVIL. WOOP HANG ON GOTTA TALK TO MY EVIL DRAGON GOD" all while Corrin just goes "gee wizz he might be in a bad mood today :)" This continues for a good 40-50% of the game. Like for the sake of fairness I feel I should mention the advertisement thing- early on in Conquest you go to the Invisible Kingdom for a single map, you're told you can't say the name of the kingdom when you're not in it otherwise you vanish into thin air (lol ok)- Corrin goes "gee Azura why is that what is this place." and she literally tells you to buy Revelations to find out with a really forced "I uh, can't tell you now, you'll find out eventually maybe." Conquest also features Corrin at multiple points going "I must of chosen the wrong path hmmm I /wonder/ what would of happened if I went the other way. I sure wonder if me choosing Hoshido instead or not choosing a side would effect things I mean there's no way to find out right?" If you don't care about spoilers or want to see how it plays out go check out a guy named Mangs run through Conquest as he has a story breakdown at the end of every chapter. It's pretty funny seeing the story spin him on his head. [editline]24th March 2016[/editline]
So... Sift, if I'd like to play Fates you recommend picking up Birthright? I somehow don't understand why it was made into two seperate games like Pokémon, with a third (and special) path if you fork over extra money.
As I said in the fates thread the games are kind of split into 3 "types." Birthright is more Awakening in map design if you've played it- outside a couple maps most of them are just wide open fields with a few terrain effects and that's about it. Most missions are Route the enemy maps and honestly it's not my favorite of the 3. It's the most beginner friendly though as it gives you Ryoma as a god unit halfway in. If you plan on playing all 3 games you'll want to start with it though as it will feel like a downgrade after playing Conquest and Revelations. It's plot is also pretty boring with just how straightforward it is. There's a single shocking event that happens in it but otherwise it's as basic as you could ever expect. The story is about as deep as a Mario games. Conquest is a puzzle game in a SRPG skin. It's maps usually have a gimmick tied to them and I think a good portion of them work really well (though there's a few that don't hold up like a certain fox map and wind map). That being said the maps themselves are ultra varied in design and there's a lot to manage. It's honestly one of the best fire emblems out there for that alone. The difficulty kinda lulls in the middle of it for a couple chapters but it ends on a strong (but really difficult) endgame. It's story is trash but it can be amusing just because it's so badly written. It's easily the hardest of the 3. Revelations is in the middle of them difficulty wise- it reuses around 4-5 maps from the other campaigns in it's story (though with different enemy arrangements and the like). In it you'll mostly be fighting the maps rather than the enemies as it kicks gimmicky map designs up to 11 but it's not too bad. A example would be a map where depending on where the enemies stand enemies can turn into promoted classes, or unpromoted classes at the end of a turn so you have to manage that as well. The story in Revelations is the real story of both games and answers all the questions both routes left open for the most part- but that being said its still full of plot holes and you can easily, EASILY see where it's going if you've ever played another fire emblem game before.

Corrin is the single dumbest person in the entire franchise, it's mind boggling
