FD Link has unique dialogue for when he tries to leave, the fishing shop guy says you can't leave while looking so scary (before you'll scare customers) and then wonders when you even got in. It's intentional.
I don't care what people play or don't play, I do care about misinformation however. The only major change in my eyes is the save system. Aside from that the rest is just small things, and tell me when people see a remake of a film, do they want to see the same film or do they want to see that film better, making things accessible isn't hand holding, it really just send like you're looking for a reason to complain [editline]5th February 2015[/editline] Also see sonic fans post about the notebook, pretty much shuts out that argument too
Thing is though if it was a small change here and there I'd be fine with it. Majora's Mask may be one of my favorite games of all time but if they want to add to the experience I think it'll work. The fishing holes for example sound really really cool and was eager to hear that they weren't just 1:1 porting it but seeing what they could do to expand. Outside of that though every change has been restricting to players in some fashion or borderline too far into the hand-holding territory. Alone if it was just one or two things that would be kinda annoying but it all adds up. Swimming for example made sense because of the Great Bay Temple, I didn't like the change because once you master swimming it feels WONDERFUL to zip everywhere in and out of tunnels and go flying out of the water when you hit your destination. It rocked. Now I have to go complete a semi lengthy side quest and remember to buy Milk if I want to do that- and if I do it I now have a semi-distracting blue energy glow around me that I can't turn off. Spinning as Deku Link, I cannot for the life of me see how this is a improvement at all and cuts down on a few tricks you could pull in the swamp- there was no need for this change at all. Period. Bombers Notebook stopping you every time you talk to a NPC who might have some kind of information for you or every time you find something strange to play a GUESS WHAT!! animation is pace ruining. In the original there was a extra text line saying "check out your notebook if you want" when you found a interesting NPC and that's it. I'm not fully against it helping people but it popping up to me unwanted is giving me Fi flashbacks. When I was a kid I remember going to Ikana Valley with the ice arrows and figuring out how to get there on my own was really cool- being a dumb kid I thought I was sequence breaking and it felt AWESOME. In the temple or around the islands in the great bay I remember messing with ice blocks seeing if I could explore with them, it was a lot of fun! Now there is literally no room for error, ice arrows now have "shoot here to solve puzzle" pixie dust and it's just lame. Every single boss has been changed, I've been posting about this rather favorably but it's still a pretty big change- and after seeing that they pretty much crippled Odolwa I kind of wish they had stuck to the "we're only changing one boss" thing when they first announced it. I can seriously keep going, I'm not even saying THE GAME IS TARNISHED AND RUINED FOREVER. I'm just saying I think they went overboard trying to overhaul EVERYTHING to the point it's going to lose a lot of the impact the original had. The game wasn't terribly difficult so dumbing it down further is just depressing and it's extra stupid when someone voices that they aren't okay with how much is getting changed only to get dogpiled because NINTENDO CAN DO NO WRONG. I'm not rushing out to cancel my preorder, I'm not telling other people not to buy the game, I'm not even saying it is a bad game. I'm totally within my right to say I don't like the changes.
Can't disagree with that. But I'll at least part the game before I decide if I like or dislike the changes.
How did they cripple Odolwa, exactly? Aside from the new weakpoint they gave him.
How did they cripple Odolwa, exactly? Aside from the new weakpoint they gave him.
Apparently from what I've seen he doesn't dance around anymore and has a single attack of just sliding towards you. He doesn't really do a lot of anything now from the video I saw- and the weakpoint thing was a mistranslation as you can still just cut him.
I desperately hope there's a Master Quest. It increases the game's longevity so much.
There probably isn't so please don't expect it. Treat it like a nice surprise if there is but literally no reviewer has even hinted that there might be more.
You guys hear of Langrisser? I hope it's good.. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/02/05/heres-look-world-setting-langrisser-3ds/

N64 version looks more challenging.
I think Odolwa got changed because his attack pattern was quite challenging and batshit-crazy, especially for a first boss... ...unfortunately, all of MM's bosses are pretty crazy and can be tough to beat. It's defiantly a shame.
Damnit, are you serious? They changed his dance and his size? Fucking hell.
They gave him that lunge attack so player can counter attack him, seeing how the original never was clearly open. And I think they shrink it a bit so Link could actively hit the boss's hurtbox. Compared to the Gilded Sword, the Kokiri Sword is quite short in range. Plus, I remember my slashes often missing because they would go in between his legs or too close to the shield and bounce off. They seem to have retained the shield size so Odolwa could protect himself better. See how much he cover himself by crouching behind it? Plus, I don't recall seeing him kick Link so that's an improvement. A fast damaging attack that doesn't drop the boss's defense and keeps the Player at bay.

When you can invalidate a boss by holding up your shield and not much else (assuming you can anyway) that's wayyyy too excessive.
Do you have to slash at Goht's eye too? Part of the challenge and fun of the fight was too not stop the FAST.
Do you have to slash at Goht's eye too? Part of the challenge and fun of the fight was too not stop the FAST.
It looks like Goht is fought pretty much the same way as he always has; the eyes just seem to be an alternative solution for damaging bosses.
Do you have to slash at Goht's eye too? Part of the challenge and fun of the fight was too not stop the FAST.
You knock him over now and turn back into young link to arrow the eye for damage.
So the Stone Mask is now found [sp]at the pirates fortress[/sp] rendering it 100% useless. Cool.
everyone loved the troupe leader's mask right? skipping parts you've already beaten is always a good purpose for a mask. this post is definitely not sarcasm (spoilers it is sarcasm)
It has other uses and you find it part way. It means you can't cheese that part now.
So the Stone Mask is now found [sp]at the pirates fortress[/sp] rendering it 100% useless. Cool.
What the fuck why?
It has other uses and you find it part way. It means you can't cheese that part now.
Don't remember any other use for it really. It's something I'm conflicted on really because yeah you can't cheese the place now but 1: Place it's most useful is already done when you do it so eh, not really worth anything then FD fodder now 2: It wasn't exactly handed to you in the original, you had to go out of your way to find it and use specific items to locate it. No NPC's hinted at where to get it so it was a reward for exploring/trying things.
So the Stone Mask is now found [sp]at the pirates fortress[/sp] rendering it 100% useless. Cool.
Not really, considering [sp]it's pretty much right at the very start of the fortress[/sp].
Not really, considering [sp]it's pretty much right at the very start of the fortress[/sp].
[sp]So did they move the dead Soldier from Ikana Canyon to the entrance of Pirate's Fortress or just put it in a chest?[/sp]
Not really, considering [sp]it's pretty much right at the very start of the fortress[/sp].
Did they? I haven't seen where it's at. Was just told "you get it at the end" Edit: This is super small and means literally nothing to anyone else most likely but just found out HMS gives you the bombers notebook because Skullkid had it which is fine whatever but apparently he calls the bombers brats. For some reason that sounds kind of off to me, like I never really expected him to use that word or anything. Not really a complaint just something that sticks out to me for some reason.
This is super small and means literally nothing to anyone else most likely but just found out HMS gives you the bombers notebook because Skullkid had it which is fine whatever but apparently he calls the bombers brats. How did the Mask Salesman got it is beyond me.
as soon as you get the stone mask the soldier should try to get noticed whereupon he immediately gets captured and thrown in jail by the pirates
Most of these changes have a reason behind them, but I honestly cannot find a single reason to have HMS give you the Bombers Notebook. The story behind the book is that the Bombers are a gang that look to help people, so the notebook is yours so you can help people too. wtc is HMS doing with it.
IIRC it's because in early retesting (playtesting the original game in anticipation of a remaster, making revisions where needed), they noticed players would consult the notebook far more often and understand its purpose better if it's given to them by a much more important character (falling under the inheritance principle of object distribution in games; generally, a player is most likely to associate the importance of an item with the importance of the character who bestows it to them)
