It's cool that Nintendo still did a transfer tutorial.

I really wish you could just clone it instead of completely wiping your old one.
Is it possible to transfer your account from the N3DS XL to the N3DS normal size?
And how do you transfer your content to a bigger micro SD card?
It's not info I need right now, but it may be handy know.

I'm going with the idea that it's a fail safe for potential Nintendo ID clones with potential exploits or theft.
It also avoids leaving personal stuff when reselling the system.

there's no fucking way my gamestop will let me do all this shit
If you trade your 3DS into a Gamestop, they can't resell it until they ship it back to Nintendo to be wiped properly.
They have to do this because otherwise there's a slim possibility that someone can steal information off it, and if that happens, Gamestop is in deep shit.

Another reason they do this is because of that time some dude traded in a DS that had porn loaded on to it.

I liked the sad undertones to the almost uplifting song there, It kind of seems like a nice break on your first playthrough, letting you know that you're on the right track, but the somberness of it tells you that there's still so much to be done.

How can i get a few more coins for KI:U? I'm at 660, need 700 coins.

probably just the site being buggy, When was the last time you had them? I think they decay after so long.

Have you heard anything about how they are going to handle the trade in? They have a deal going on where if you trade in your 3DS XL you can put it toward a new 3DS XL, but I need to transfer my data first. Can we do this in store?
did you already download some of nintendo's free offerings? Rusty's baseball etc etc?
did you already download some of nintendo's free offerings? Rusty's baseball etc etc?
I know that Steel Diver is F2P, but is there a consolidated list of free games on the eshop?

afaik stores are handling it differently
some will allow you to transfer in the store , some will let you do some overly complicated return process to do the transfer, and some just aren't allowing transfers at all (even though we've been told to allow customers to do some form of transfer)
idk how the store I work at is handling it, I don't work during the release weekend, but I think we're doing in store transfers and the overly complicated return thing.
[editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
from what I understand the trade in deal was extended to the 15th to allow customers to have time do their system transfers so it's a bit weird that some stores aren't allowing transfers. I haven't spoken to any stores that have said that, but customers have been telling me that is what they were told
I need you guys to sway me into buying one of these new 3ds XL things. Here's my position:
I've never owned a handheld before, besides a gameboy color (which I still play now and then)
I'm currently saving up to by my new rig.
But I also want one of these but I can't justify buying one just because it looks cool (I did this with a surface tablet and regretted it from day one)
Basically I'm looking for reasons to help justify me buying one when they are released. I want to know what to expect and the appeal of the new 3ds XL is.
Any help would be appreciated.
See if there are games you want to justify it, I own a 3DS but no new games appeal to me so I've been playing a lot of DS games recently on my 3DS.

I'm mad because the MMn3DS and the MH4Un3DS' needed to be paid for in full because they get shipped to you, so you had to trade in your 3DS while paying for a n3DS to get the credit. That means I had to trade in my 3DS the day the n3DS was announced because otherwise they would sell out of the special editions.
Also that means I couldn't wait to trade it in so I could do the system transfer.

Yeah that was/is a pretty big problem. The way around that would be to pay in full and when the N3DS arrives take it your local store and "trade it in" and rebuy it while trading in your old 3DS. By doing that the store should allow you do the transfer during the process. It's a slight pain in the butt for the employee but it should end with what I would hope to be a happy costumer in the end. It was one of te reasons why the deal was extended from what I was told.
I'll probably buy the N3DS XL, transfer all my shit over (possibly after putting in a brand new microSD for 32GB or something), and then give the 'refreshened' old 3DS to my older sister since she likes some of our few games we have to begin with.

Top is kinda purple only. ehh
Nintendo should honestly let you "freeze" your system data on an SD card, so you can perform half the transfer and wipe the old system to sell, then "thaw" that data during setup of the new system later.
It'd have a hash applied to it so you can't duplicate your system and all its games to sell (you have to verify online for the thawing process to complete, otherwise it stays frozen)
They just need to move to a proper fucking account system
System transfer isn't just downloads, it's system-specific data too. An account system would only let you re-download stuff, it wouldn't transfer your unique streetpass ID or anything else like that.
No matter what, at least part of it HAS to be local.

I could care less about streetpass IDs and friend codes. As long as the stuff that I bought is saved on an account, I'd be fine.
What I'm saying is that the transfer process is more complicated and involves more things than a lot of people realize, and it's mostly for security/anti-duplication reasons.
With the ability to register with and re-download on an unlimited number of devices, all that's keeping you from buying systems to add games to and sell for a profit is the honor system, and that's something Nintendo understandably wants to avoid. Some big changes would have to be made to both their infrastructure and how the devices themselves manage accounts; something would have to be limited somewhere, and too many people are irrationally afraid of registration limits for that to happen.
as a wii u / pc owner, what makes the 3ds actually worth it?
barring cost, what does it actually do? is the 3d part some dumb gimmick, or something genuinely fun (I really enjoy using the wii mote, I'm quick to accept good ideas)
and what games would I find good?
wii u I have pikmin 1 and 3, 3d world, windwaker, smash, captain toad
some examples of what I like on PC: Alien: I, Dark souls, Stalker, Skyrim, little inferno, Limbo, Rochard, Waking Mars, mark of the ninja, thomas was alone

If you're interested in the 3D, get the New3DS. In fact, if you're planning on getting a 3DS at all, get a New3DS.
In terms of its value, the system has a surprising number of lasting and fulfilling online and offline experiences, playable in many more places than just around the house, and conveniently kept right in your pocket for whenever you get an itch to play some Mario Kart, but can't be bothered to boot a console up; if you get your games digitally, it's as easy as opening an app on a smartphone.
As for games you might like, I'd recommend Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, RE Revelations, Kid Icarus Uprising, Zelda: Link Between Worlds (and Majora's Mask once that's out, if that interests you), and Cave Story (eShop version, it's the definitive one of all versions). Other than that, I'd encourage you to pick up Mario 3D Land and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon cheap as a sort of "starter kit", as they both make fun, meaningful use of the 3D, and show off what the system is capable of visually.
Also Smash. I have both versions and yet I find myself playing the 3DS one more these days, just because I can whip it out and start playing anywhere in like ten seconds.
After reading up on all the games out for it I'm glad I gave into my urges and ordered a MH4U 3ds xl. The last DS I had was a DSI xl. I can't wait for the new one to come this Friday!
I already have pic-cross 3d and metriod prime hunters ready and the original etrian Odyssey.
I'm also planing to get smash and ocarina of time off the eshop. I want to go download only if I can.
It's going to be a looooong week.............
