So after playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for about an hour all I have to say is WHAT A BUNCH OF JOKERS
IT'S ROYNE TOIME
The big, open areas are great. This game gives an awesome sense of scope.
i'm not super fond of the story of xenoblade, but it has one of my fave settings in a game in a while
My 3DS just froze, and when i re-opened it every downloaded games had the gift icon. So i had to open all of them, and reorganize the folders.
For a second i thought the SD card fucked up and i lost all my saves. Turns out everything is ok, but man that would have sucked.
Xenoblade has a kinda bland plot and explaining it to someone makes it seem really generic, but the setting, world-building, characters and general quality of the writing is so good it makes up for it.
Does anyone know if it's possible to backup the Animal Crossing New Leaf savefile? I'm thinking about removing my town and start a new one from scratch, but I'm not sure if the game would let me restore the town.
If you have it digitally, yes. Physical copies are a negative.

Having already known the entire story due to Chuggaaconroys lp (I never thought ill play the game when he started it) its interesting going through the game with the gift of fore site.

The game saves a little bit of information to your 3DS' internal memory, if you play a different town you irrevocably lose access to your old one.
I turned my 3DS volume all the way up and just set it down on my desk on the title screen of Xenoblade
The music is so fucking good

I just upgraded from an original blue 3DS to the New 3DS XL. The difference is incredible.
Everytime I've had to download something, be it the System Update or a patch for Smash Bros, the download will fail and I'll get an error code of 009-2916. I can restart the download several times and get small chunks of the update before it completing, however. I'm just going to assume there's heavy load on the eShop today.
I kept seeing "defense" spelled "defence" in Xenoblade 3D and I thought someone fucked up big time.
Then I realized it was just me being a dumb American because apparently "defence" is just another correct spelling :v:

Yeah well, XB never got a proper localization for it's NA release beyond NoA changing the region code for the anemic amount of discs they pressed.

When I learned that "defence" was the more British-English spelling, it made more sense though considering how non-American the character voices are. IMO it seems like this is a proper localization.
Xenoblade Chronicles was released in Europe before America, so when America was about to get the game as well NoA just went ahead and used the European version. This explains the British spelling and the British voice actors.
It was for the best frankly. The British voices are classic.

Alvis has the best voice

I know I'm not alone in thinking this, but honestly, that helped sell the fiction a little more, at least for folks in the US.
It's set in another world, so hearing what's clearly a southern or new yorker or some other distinctly American accent would just totally blow its consistency apart. It might sound stereotypical, but yes, having a foreign voice cast DOES help create the feeling of newness and unfamiliarity, which are extremely important when building a fantasy setting. Xenoblade nailed this totally by accident.
My copy is physical, rip.
Try the Save Data Transfer Tool on the eShop. The only down side is that you need need to own the game digitally to play your save file again.
I was wiping the dust off my new 3ds and I got a scratch on it. It's not apparent unless looked at in the light and isn't noticeable at all when the console is on. Anyway to fix this or is it better to just leave it be?
Top screen by the way. It's a LONG scratch from top to bottom of the top screen but very light.

I stood on the title screen for a good 5 minutes listening to the song.
It's just so good.
The music throughout the whole game is a cut above. If you think that's good, you'll be reeling in 30 hours' time.
I'm on the fence about getting xenoblade. I hear people say it's an insult by how downgraded it looks and you're better off hunting a wii copy of it.

Let's be honest, the graphics on the Wii weren't even that good.

Wii version doesn't look all that much better tbh. The difference between the HD version and the 3DS version is pretty noticeable though.
And um...

Yeah no just get the n3DS one.
[editline]t[/editline]
Also ignore Kotaku's rant about it if you run across it. So many other sources are positive, it's a shame to see that one get so much airplay just because it's at the top of the Google results for the game.

LOL
Metroid Prime Trilogy's eShop release crashed the price of physical copies the second it was announced, but Xenoblade Wii is still somehow holding price.

I don't think that it is a fair comparison, especially when it is a port, not a digital rerelease.

I seriously hope Nintendo puts out an eShop version of Xenoblade Wii. eShop versions of Wii games tend to run and look a bit nicer than the physical versions and good lord does Xenoblade's physical version look hideous on a big screen.
fingers crossed for like an HD remake with updated character models or something. can't be hard, the game already emulates at higher resolutions super well.
So,if any of you got the Xenoblade 3D, what's the fuction of the amiibo?
I don't think a normal mode is needed- they just need to turn off the infinite respawning enemies because that's not fun and punishes players for not rushing ahead and getting sneak attacked. There's already a rank at the end of each stage for how fast you do it, why attack the player mid-level?
Well I meant normal mode as in reduces the spawning enemies (or gets rid of it all together) and makes then a bit weaker. Would be cool if they add some more maps later on, or some FE maps just for kicks (and to help get that final agent, apparently you need a buttload of coins).
The Shulk Amiibo grants you 3 free tokens every day *EDIT: that are used for the Jukebox and Model viewer, you trade 1 token for a random song/model or 3 for a new one, which you otherwise only get via Playcoins (5 playcoins for 1 token) or Streetpass.
How come they didn't do the faces like Kingdom Hearts, they have different face models depending on how close the camera is the face of a character
Feel good about getting the n3DS now that Binding of Isaac is n3DS only
