Picked up the new 3ds xl today. After waiting four hours for my stuff to transfer on the shitty gamestop wifi i'm finally able to play. I can actually use 3d now with the face tracking and it looks glorious. Plus amiibo support will be cool for smash bros 3ds and happy home designer when that comes out. Fuckin sucks that I can't remove the faceplate though, just the back battery panel. I was kinda waiting for an animal crossing plate set for my new 3ds but that won't be a thing :\
Yeah, it sucks that the XL ones dont have faceplates. Really disappointing
I just want a new Zelda game where Child Timeline Link finally finds Navi :(
I still hate that a bought a 3ds... then an XL.. and I still have crap 3d whereas the new one is apparently better. Fuck me sideways.
I just want a new Zelda game where Child Timeline Link finally finds Navi :(
OoT?
OoT?
Yes, that's where the child timeline begins, at the end of that game.
Speaking of Zelda, 3-hearts challenge makes Majora look really empty. You miss on so much and I ended up appreciating a lot more about the details behind everyone in Termina. Tho, replaying OoT and Twilight is a lot of fun with rules. Especially Twilight without Hidden Skills. Hopefully, Zelda U uses a similar inventory system to OoT and TP (or the game doesn't force upgrades on you) so you can revert back to weaker tools and spice things up on future runs.
Picked up Afterburner 2 and Outrun 3D man these games work really well on the 3ds especially with Outrun, which is 60 fps on the 3ds while it was only 30 fps at the arcade.
Yes, that's where the child timeline begins, at the end of that game.
But Majora's Mask already fills part of that gap at the least, and it's theorized that Young Link probably never really did find Navi given what he was in Twilight Princess...
But Majora's Mask already fills part of that gap at the least, and it's theorized that Young Link probably never really did find Navi given what he was in Twilight Princess...
I like to think that Navi (or fairies such as her) serves as a guardian to a child until the protege proves how much they grown to be adults. Her departure at the end of OoT is a sign that Link no longer needs her to keep growing. That's why Kokiri are never seen without one as they never grow to be adults. Even 7 years later, they still act like children. It is further emphasized in MM where soldiers grant Link access to the fields because he has a sword and no longer call him "kid" but "sir" instead after misjudging him. Cremia grants Link the Romani Mask that gives proof that she does not think of him has a child but as an adult. And then, there's the Hero's Shade which solidifies how wise Link had become over the years he lived. You don't see that in a lot of other incarnations.
I picked up Etrian Mystery Dungeon like 2 weeks ago, because why the hell not. Even if it's not a proper dungeon crawler, it's still an Etrian game. So far: maybe I'm just not used to Mystery Dungeon games, but a lot of the difficulty seems pretty arbitrary. For 95% of the time, you can only control one character at a time, relying on the party AI to hopefully do what you want. You automatically gain control of everyone in boss fights, but not during mini-boss fights, which require about the same amount of party coordination as proper bosses. It IS possible to force "control everyone" whenever you want, but it only lasts 9 turns, and you need to spend one Blast point, which you slowly build up through exploring and fighting. Blast gets reset every time you enter a dungeon, so if you run into a miniboss and you haven't gained a Blast point yet, good luck trying to pull off a complicated strategy! Furthermore, Blast points are shared with limit break style skills, so if you use on of those in a tight situation, you may not be able to fully control your characters if you run into another tight situation soon after. Outside of Blast, the only way to control your party AI for characters you're not currently controlling is to set their skill use to on or off. Want to set AI for "stay in the back", "target enemies from behind", "provoke all of these enemies", or "run away"? Either use Blast, or control one a different character each turn, which means the other 3 characters you aren't controlling that turn may mess up your strategy. Basically, resort to luck, or grind more common enemies (which sort of defeats the point if you're having trouble with common enemies) to earn full party control. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. They've (mostly) balanced the game around having less control over your characters. It's just drastically different from the precise party coordination necessary in the main Etrian Odyssey games. It's turned into precise party member control switching, making it feel a little more like chess. The main problem is that the AI isn't always that great. For instance, the tanking character will use a taunt with only 1 enemy in the room, but not with 9 enemies. When the party is all around half health, the healer will use single target heals on two characters and then a party heal. A caster will stand at the entrance to a room, blocking in characters behind them. Characters will blow through their mana without regard for the situation. Characters will run away from the party to go after enemies, or just blindly run towards them. Someone will have a major status condition, and the healer will prioritize topping off the health of someone not even in danger of being hit. Characters will ask to use an item, and if you tell them no, they won't move that turn. Characters will ignore monsters in corridors if they're more than two spaces away. Here's one example of a frustrating fight. There was a miniboss about to (potentially) destroy one of the forts I built, so I teleported from town to the fort, then went down one level to fight the miniboss. This miniboss was 3 spaces wide, covering a total of 9 spaces. Corridors between rooms are only one space wide. I saw it in the corner of the map, so I went down a corridor towards the room it was in. I saw it was approaching the corridor, so I moved back in hopes that it would move away, which would give my party enough space to set up a flanking strategy. I didn't want my attackers and tank to be right next to each other, in case the boss had an area attack, like some previous minibosses did. Instead of moving away, though, the boss burst through solid rock to come after my party, making the corridor 3 spaces wide as it went. Well, crap, lesson learnt, these things are freakin powerful. So I had my party run back through the corridor, which took longer than it should have, because the character in back would keep running up to the boss. I eventually got to an intersection of corridors and set up a plan. I had my attackers take a turn so they could flank the boss, and had my tank lure the boss forward in hopes it would have the side corridor lead to the boss' side. This would not happen easily, though. I moved my tank back, and my melee attacker ran forward, getting into the boss's range and getting attacked, rather than letting the boss move forward. So I moved the attacker back to give the boss space. In this turn, the tank decided to run towards the boss, blocking it from moving forward. So I moved the tank back a space, and in that turn, the attacker moved right back to where they were, getting attacked again. So I moved the attacker back again, and the tank went right back to where they were. After a few tries and seeing this was a futile effort, eventually I had to exploit another aspect of the bad AI to make my strategy work. I moved my melee attacker behind my ranged attacker, who then blocked them from running forward because they were too busy picking their nose, then moved the tank back and taunted the boss. It was only then that the boss moved into position and I could get my melee attacker to actually flank the boss. Tldr for paragraph: I had to exploit another behavior of bad AI to work around bad AI. Again, it's not unplayable, or always that frustrating. It's actually pretty fun. It's just an entirely different style of challenge and strategy compared to the main games, making it feel like a cheap, arbitrary difficulty in comparison, worsened by subpar AI. Most of the time it's fine, or frustration will be your fault for trusting the AI too much, but every once in a while it feels like you're herding cats.
Does anyone want my Flipnote Studio 3D code? You need to redeem it soon.
Notice how TP link is his descendant? That means he escaped the Lost Woods and got married at some point. The only reason he's a spoopy ghost is cause' he hates that no one learned his sweet moves.
It's never really clear whether the heroes/Knights of Hyrule are an actual family line or just random kids chosen for their virtues. I recall it being phrased as "successor" rather than descendant, in the case of the hero's shade. The hero's shade is one of my favourite things about Twilight Princess though, I think it shows that the game is a lot more self-aware than people think. It's kind of all about the new Link being a worthy successor to the old one and earning the right to call himself the hero. It contrasts Wind Waker nicely, because the hero is completely gone from that world, sent away to live his life over again, the Link in Wind Waker is just a kid in a costume who steps up to the plate, nobody chose him except circumstance. But the legacy of the hero is very much alive in Twilight Princess, and he's still there to pass on his legacy. It almost reflects those games' place in the series, too. Ocarina was groundbreaking in so many ways and to many people it's the definitive Zelda game. Wind Waker did its own thing and it's beloved for that now, but Twilight Princess was supposed to be the worthy successor, with a similar tone and setting to Ocarina. I don't personally think it's unoriginal, and it was what people wanted at the time, but there's something to be said for the fact that they placed within the game a commentary on what it meant to be the successor to a legendary hero.
Where did they ever say this And it's confirmed canon that non-Kokiri who get lost in the woods turn into Stalfos
Pretty sure the Hyrule Historia or an interview confirmed it, not sure which. Most fans go with the idea that Link probably married Malon, which would explain why the TP Link is a farmhand in a predominantly country-based village with a ranch just outside Hyrule.
Where did they ever say this And it's confirmed canon that non-Kokiri who get lost in the woods turn into Stalfos
There were a few lines in the game saying that TP Link has blood of a hero in his veins, and with the myriad of OoT references present throughout the game, not even mentioning the fact that one of the dungeons is the temple of time, we can safely assume that TP Link is Oot Link's grandson or whatever. Also, The Hero's Shade says that he's like that because, like Sift said, he regrets that he couldn't teach others his "sweet moves." Notice how regret allows people to transcend mortal lifespans, in certain ways. King Daphnes Hyrule of Wind Waker was able to live as the King of Red Lions because he regretted that he couldn't do shit for his kingdom. The Deku, Goron, and Zora Masks are also filled with regret. Darmani couldn't save his people: regret. Mikau couldn't save his kids: regret. OoT Link was filled wiht regret, and it transformed him into a spooky skeleton.

So is there a must play Etrian game? My friend doesn't like the series but I'm kind of curious after it was brought up in Fast Anime thread.
I'd suggest 4 personally.
Surprised they didn't localize Shingeki no Kyojin to Attack on Titan for the western release. I heard the game was a QTE fest though and it's $50. Also Ace Attorney themes got released in the west, US only at the moment I think. I wish there were eShop refunds because I spend my leftover money on Gunman Clive which wasn't even that interesting.

Well you're not missing much if this is a good representation of the game.
been playing Codename Steam so glad they updated it with a fast forward button
the reason it wasn't called attack on titan in PAL was weird licensing copyright nonsense i believe

Which one is the best Trozei game? The original for DS, Battle Trozei, or the free one? I'm looking for a casual puzzle game, when I want my mind to stop bothering me.
