While it might hurt the serious atmosphere, I got to admit Payday 2 is the only game where I can not only think "Gee I want to bring a Heavy Crossbow and use a MicroUzi" but even use it incredibly well. Its entirely up to the individual to play however they want, but with all the tools of destruction at my fingertips, I think I'd be seriously hurting the game's lifespan by not switching out my weapons, tools, and skills.

Honestly I think I'm bias because I got 600 hours but I've been having fun playing with [I]no [/I]skills until a few hours ago (went Infamy) using a big assortment of weaponry. I haven't found one gun yet that screams "useless on overkill" ever since the rebalance. Infact my only real peeve is shotguns as I feel the pump shotguns need more ammo pick up and the automatics should be able to reach 42 damage without any skill buffs. But they are also bullet hoses that hit multiple targets so perhaps its for the best that they only do like 38 or so.

As much as people can hate the weapon rebalance update for whatever reason, I absolutely loved it. Before the update, so many weapons were just bad compared to others. Now you can bring whatever and be pretty good with them, which is wonderful. Just wish they'd randomize the cops health a bit to remove that damage threshold meta without the need to equalize all weapons damage.

Randomizing weapon damage doesn't work either since people would build up their weapon's damage so the lowest possible damage hits a breakpoint.

Right now, if you get to 40, there is literally no reason to add more damage to that as it just gets wasted most of the time. Past that point, damage mods become useless except if they add more stability/accuracy. It's almost like adding a stability mod to an already 100 stability weapon ; it won't matter, you'll get the same performance anyway. At least with randomizing, damage mods would require more of a decision making than asking yourself "am I past 40 ?". It might make the funnel of fun nozzle useful.

You can only go so far with HP/damage randomization till either suspension of disbelief kicks in or it just turning into an RNG fuckfest (because this game definitely needs more of that)

[...][/QUOTE] At the moment, not hitting the breakpoint causes you to use 33% more ammo to kill and getting past it is a waste ; min/maxing at 40 damage is the ultimate loadout so half the time all weapons end up with the same mods. The only decision making going on is "do I hit 40 damage?", the rest only matters once this breakpoint is hit. Sure even with randomization there's gonna be a threshold but it's far more of a choice when choosing your mods because depending on RNG, even a 35 damage weapon might kill in 2 shots. Because of RNG, the more damage the better. The way it is right now, more damage does not equal better, more damage does not equal more kills, which is ridiculous, isn't it ? You would expect the damage stat to actually matter but it doesn't. The stats menu might as well just show "2 bullets kills : yes/no" with 3/4 of the mods not changing it because that's pretty much how it is.
