So now OVK are basically free to do whatever they want? No monthly DLC plans, no microtransactions, no bullshit?
This is the beginning of a new era of updates, I can't believe it.
Overkill is still a Starbreeze studio, the video description says as much.
Ohhh okay.
Yeah, just to clear things up, OVERKILL still sits with Starbreeze! It's 505 Games that are no longer part of Payday! :]
Starbreeze AB, an independent creator, publisher and distributor of high quality entertainment products, today announced its agreement with 505 Games to acquire the full rights to the PAYDAY-franchise
our boi
Seems like they're really been putting in a good-faith effort to fix their shit these past few months. I've been following the game for a while but I've not really been playing it. I might jump back in now.
Let's just hope there's no half truths with the safes this time
I am genuinely surprised by this turn of events
Oh and did anyone notice the motorcycle in the Update 100 picture?
I think that's the new guy's mask on the front of it.
Despite the immensely negative backlash Overkill has endured for many months, I find it very impressive that they got back up and opened up more to the community than ever.
Good job, Overkill. Really.
The way the whole video's worded and how happy they seem be with announcing the end of microtransactions (especially with the Chains quote) reaffirms my view that Overkill gets way too much shit for it all. The whole thing seems like it's only come from higher up, and this gives me hope.
They completely redeemed themselves, in my opinion. I'm glad that they actually care.
Feels good to know that I supported the right developer all this time.
Well. It's time to play enforcer and eat teasers as breakfast again! Right in time for summer!
Thanks for the love overkill.
Hopefully this marks the end of the forced licensed movie characters.
John Wick being part of the lore is just pure cringe.
To everyone returning, I'm available to play pretty much anytime (if you're looking for someone to jump back into Payday with): http://steamcommunity.com/id/VietRooster/
Also here's the (slightly) alive FP Payday 2 group, make an announcement and get a game going: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FPPD2
Oh and since the FP PD2 Steam group is dead, how would you guys feel about a Discord server? That seems to be the hip new thing these days.
Agree for "yes", Disagree for "no", and Dumb for "no you dumb cunt we still have a perfectly alive steam group"
Welp, already started redownloading PD2. Thank god for them being able to get out of all the shittiness they've had in the past few months.

Take that back, Keanu is my Husbando and I watched John Wick one times!
Holy fuck I super want this to be Biker from Hotline Miami
One of the developers in the Update 100 question thread said it wasn't a heister.

my proudest moment
Mainly popping back because of the Update 100 announcement, but damn that actually seems pretty solid.
So I'm guessing Starbreeze owned the franchise rights before this point? Because the fact they're now ripping out the old safe system and actually allowing everybody access to grenades kinda implies that Starbreeze were in fact the reason behind a lot of the more questionable choices in the last year or two.
You can't really say no to the guys paying your bills unless you can demonstrably prove that their idea will lose them money after all.
Forgive me for asking, but when did OVK break free from Starbreeze? Wasn't Starbreeze owned by Bo Andersson, who is also the CEO of OVK?
One of the developers in the Update 100 question thread said it wasn't a heister.
New contractor then?
Riding bikes, incoming?
Forgive me for asking, but when did OVK break free from Starbreeze? Wasn't Starbreeze owned by Bo Andersson, who is also the CEO of OVK?
They didn't. Starbreeze (which is joined at the hip with Overkill) bought 505 Games' share of the PAYDAY IP.
Still, the update is pretty awesome.
Something something driveable bike
Fuck man, this calls for a celebration.
I still have a copy of Payday: The Heist in my inventory if anybody wants it. Rate tool (useful) if you want it, and I'll the run the names through a randomizer in like 2 hours
So umm Payday 3 confirmed?
So umm Payday 3 confirmed?
Payday 3 was always confirmed, Overkill said that after support for Payday 2 is over (in 18 months), they will start working on Payday 3 if they haven't already.
The safehouse FAQ was updated.
The answer to the question about changing loadout in the safehouse is bullshit though, someone already managed to implement in-heist weapons changing.

I just hope when PD3 is announced that the Diesel engine is not part of PD3's plans.
Plot twist: payday 3 run on the first cryengine
It runs on the chinese knockoff engine: Petrol
Plot twist: Safes now have the same drop rate as drills and are now purchasable in-game.
