Ah, I could have sworn the mods/devs were adamantly stating in chat that factions would be opened up upon release, and no sooner. It must have been something else though; I'm certainly not complaining. Gonna be nice to have some companions. Im guessing there's no way to separate faction chat from general chat (aka barrens chat on steroids)?

Dont even THINK of trying to fly anywhere near a spawn zone, because you WILL get hijacked.
The hookshot-thing, whatever its called, is a pain in the ass in PvP too.
Everyone has the same tools, it's just a matter of learning to use them.
As far as PvP goes, it's just point your gun at them and cross your fingers.

Apparently theres a hijack blocking script they made. Its going to be in the mod so server hosts can use it.

There should be a /lock command, but you have to to type it everytime you get in a vehicle.
I love hijacking helicopters that are attacking the airport. They never see it coming :3
I made a mod that fixes the shitty console port mouse input. If you aren't aware mouse movements get clamped to 0.0 - 1.0 because the code is made for analog sticks.

This is something i've invisioned since the very first time i player jcmp. I can code lua, so i'll try to do something as soon as they release the server files.

It's probably to counter the fact that heli kills now do give you money.
I'm guessing they went all out because it's the final beta test, they're stressing everything out including hijaking.
I liked what happened earlier today, when Woet realized that the boost script was causing lag.
Basically they switched off all the scripts, and then turned them back on one by one.
Those first seconds after the switch were hilarious, as people just didn't realize what was going on when all the / commands suddenly showed up in chat. It scrolled at insane speeds for over two minutes :v:
Major improvement. I had 800-1000 ping and now 200-300 with 1000+ players on.
This will run like a piece o cake with 100ish players on.
I hope the requirements for the server aren't too high, I'd like to throw it on my VPS.

I remember about 6 months ago I talked to one of the devs. He claimed it only used like 150mb of RAM. You just have to be prepared for the network onslought though. He said that they usually tested it on like a Windows XP machine in a closet.

It seems to be fairly inconsistent when it comes to crashing. Sometimes I barely play for 5 mins before a crash. Just now though I managed to play for over an hour with no problems.
I think the mod team announced that a patch for the crashing was finished and just has to be rolled out. Also I can't stop racing. One thing I hope for is the c key changing camera views like original, far back, first person, hood, and bumper.

It's kinda unwieldy, but really, it's a far better first-person camera than the actual first-person mod independently made for the game.
