Gameplay footage of the Battle for Panau server. It picks up around 19:30.
Saw this in the SA thread about ludonarrative dissonance, thought it was interesting to point out.
At the end of the game, Rico Rodriguez [sp] directs a nuclear missile at the oil field acting as the game's MacGuffin. When his boss asks why he irradiated the massive oil reserves, Rico says that the loss of life that would result from the world powers fighting for the field is abhorant and needs to be avoided at all cost. This comes after spending the entire game destroying a nation's entire infrastructure and whoever might have an issue with you doing so. Since the entire game feels like a parody of U.S. foreign doctrine it doesn't hurt the game but it's still kinda jarring after all the destruction you've caused.[/sp]
Reviving this thread because of new screenshots. are those jc3 screenshots? looks nice. i just hope the devs don't forget about their mad max game and put this out first.
Saw this in the SA thread about ludonarrative dissonance, thought it was interesting to point out.
But Rico had a just cause for his destruction, and is also just one guy. Whole first-world nations fighting each other would be even more catastrophic all for a resource.
But Rico had a just cause for his destruction, and is also just one guy. Whole first-world nations fighting each other would be even more catastrophic all for a resource.
Rico is basically a first world nation
feels like a parody of U.S. foreign doctrine
I wonder if Just Cause 3 is going to involve things into it's plot like the Arab Spring or the increasing public opinion for United States to not readily supply foreign military support as we have in the past. It's funny to think about how the events that have occurred in the past five years might entirely alter the sentiment of a videogame. I mean it's Just Cause so lord knows it isn't going to bring anything too profound to the table, and if they starve the game-play trying to give the game an cohesive story then they'll just be shooting themselves in the foot. Unrelated, but I'm hoping they add a high speed railroad to the mix this time. I just think it'd be a fun thing to have, as the GTA railroads have forever been a source of entertainment. Nothing screams "Fun afternoon" like the thought of being chased by the police, jumping ontop of your car, surfing it into the path of an oncoming freight train, jumping off at the last second onto the hood of the locomotive leaving the exploding carcass of the pancaked car beneath you, while the hoard of police officers that were chasing you all smash into the side of the train cars.

But yeah, trainsurfing would be a neat little thing.
Trailer for Just Cause 3 has been released.
PC Gamer released an article on JC3 today. Infinite C4.
y'know that's great and all but where's mad max? the movie comes out in may and the game is supposed to release alongside it. haven't heard or seen any screenshots or trailers since whenever the last bunch of it was.
so apparently it's set in a fictional mediterranean island called Medici (which means medics in italian). But I dunno if it's an 'italian' island because of the spanish text on walls and cars, but the setting definetly looks very similar to sicily.
mediterranean is basically italian or greek
mediterranean is basically italian or greek
yeah totes
The countries with coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea are Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Northern Cyprus (recognized only by Turkey), Palestinian territories, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, and Tunisia.
[editline]yah[/editline] tbh from the screenshots it looks like Medici (which is the name of an old Florentine family of bankers (thanks assassin's creed)) is basically southern France or Monaco, with some alps thrown in for good measure.
I looked it up. It's a fictional archipelago inspired by various contries including Italy, Spain, Greece and various central-southern mediterranean locations. The language on the island is also a mix of languages from those places. It really looks like sicily tho, especially the architecture, plus the names of things they are using are basically italian (medici, di Ravello etc.).
i hope JC3 is as well optimized as JC2, that thing ran on my last-last-last-last gen piece of shit like a dream so i hope that if i build a PC for a reasonable price now or a bit later i'll be able to run it hnnnngh those explosion particles and the whole thing in general just looks so beautiful
I hope the car handling is a bit better this time around - The suspension in JC2 was way too stiff and you'd just get flung into the air from the slightest bump
i loved that though also, we need another hilariously overkill-indestructible juggernaut vehicle like the airfield tow truck in JC2
We meed stronghold missions that aren't all copy-pastes of each other.
I hope the car handling is a bit better this time around - The suspension in JC2 was way too stiff and you'd just get flung into the air from the slightest bump
I just want the camera to not re-center so quickly. Or preferably at all.
since there isnt a thread for it, and since its the same devs i'ma post this here
since there isnt a thread for it, and since its the same devs i'ma post this here
Very hyped for that one. Let's see if it lives up.
and now an actual trailer for just cause 3
It's nice ... but the lack of built in multiplayer is still a big mistake in my opinion
Is Bolo patch broken or are there just no working versions of it around? I remember that it originated here.
It's nice ... but the lack of built in multiplayer is still a big mistake in my opinion
I don't see why, JC2MP is probably not far from what the devs would have given us, and this way they can focus on what matters, great SP. JC has never been about MP and I personally kinda prefer it that way tbh.

All I'm hoping for is that they make modding easier, and perhaps expose some form of communication API from the beginning so that people don't need to inject shit to get multiplayer to work.
Is Bolo patch broken or are there just no working versions of it around? I remember that it originated here.
I have a copy of Bolopatch that works for the newest update, 4.00. Found a link on youtube thorugh some german mirror.
