I was sniping around the airport yesterday, I saw this helicopter at the far end of the strip and fired a single shot aimed at the pilot. I never expected it to hit but I saw his limp body fall from his helicopter as they both plummeted to the ground.. And then he complained about how someone sniped him from his helicopter on [LOCAL] omg
quick question hit detection is client side right? if so, either i suck at the game or have yet to get used to how the weaponry works in it.
I think the way client side damage works is that you have to have your mouse EXACTLY on the other person when you shoot, or else it doesn't hit them [editline]23rd April 2013[/editline] meaning that stray bullets don't tend to hit them at all
Oh cool! Thought I missed the test but it's extended :D
oh shit, they added in nitrous
I think that I have one gripe with this beta currently, and it's the people that play it only care about kills. I've been doing this thing where I take the bus that's at the front of the airport and drive it around in there, using it to ram planes and can be used as a turret of sorts for other people. The only problem is that there are too many people that jump on it and then proceed to shoot the shit out of it to attempt to kill me. I really don't understand people sometimes.

Same with your shenanigans, someone else can say that you pushing his plane with a bus is the pinnacle of douchebaggery. Let it be man, Panau is a free country, and that's what I love about that mod.
I know what it feels to be a citizen in Panau now, Driving along then some faggot flies to you and promptly wrecks your shit.
yeah i prefer to be a hit-and-run type of guy. do some kills, maybe get into a gunfight or two, then jack a car and go riding into the sunset. i just wish the guns weren't so damn expensive. also anyone join the factions? i'm in 'merica.
Anyone want to do some casual cruising around?
Have they released their whole scripting language stuff?
I think the way client side damage works is that you have to have your mouse EXACTLY on the other person when you shoot, or else it doesn't hit them [editline]23rd April 2013[/editline] meaning that stray bullets don't tend to hit them at all
I think the damage being dealt is handled client side. Meaning that you need to shoot where the player is on his screen. Which is impossible to tell really, unless they're running in a straight line. Most likely this will be fixed.. i hope :v:
Have they released their whole scripting language stuff?
No. Why would they have? You can't even host your own server as of yet. It's going to be Lua. I've spoken to the guy implementing it and it sounds great. OOP as well! They plan to eventually be like MTA was, with 'developer preview' types of releases where you can download and run your own server, but it's severely lacking in features.
Aww yess, that's what i was most worried about.
OOP is being implemented into MTA as well. :)
Hanging around the major cities with a sniper rifle is pretty fun, I feel like the goddamn Batman.
Hanging around the major cities with a sniper rifle is pretty fun, I feel like the goddamn Batman.
But in reality you're just another annoying person who goes around shooting at everyone. :v: (unless you only shoot at people who themselves shoot at people)
Hanging around the major cities with a sniper rifle is pretty fun, I feel like the goddamn Batman.
Batman doesn't use guns. Also anyone playing right now?
attaching my car to others in the derby and having them drive me around, making me fling around everywhere hitting people at 90 km/h is the best
attaching my car to others in the derby and having them drive me around, making me fling around everywhere hitting people at 90 km/h is the best
You can do that? brb
I just thought I'd be one of those people who grabs a helicopter with rockets and miniguns on it and shoots the shit out of anyone inside a vehicle.
Do we have to own an original copy of JC2 in order to play the MP?
Do we have to own an original copy of JC2 in order to play the MP?
Yes.
Do we have to own an original copy of JC2 in order to play the MP?
it's best if you buy it on steam, since the new version integrates their site with steam so it's all one account.
Currently playing single player (with a crack so I can use all the dlc for free) but why the hell does the game keep crashing so much like it crashes when I explode those oil drums and sam sites, sometimes even when killing those asians or whatever it really grinds my gears, I'm using a gtx 660. (And the crack has nothing to do with it, I played the game legit at first, on steam and it still crashed so the crack has nothing to do with it) Strangely enough some enemies had some weird transparent-red like artifact around them. anyone had this graphic bug? (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - Orkel))
We don't like yer kind over here.
it's best if you buy it on steam, since the new version integrates their site with steam so it's all one account.
It's a steamworks game, there's no other way to buy it [editline]25th April 2013[/editline] on PC of course
I asked one of the devs how the hitreg works and it's completely server-sided (you need to ping lead) unless your crosshair is directly over the guy. Then the server uses what position you're aiming at on the guy instead.
We don't like yer kind over here.
Oh of course this is facepunch no matter if I bought the game on steam, even if I try to mod the game a little I am still a pirate. I am sorry but I don't wanna buy 10 dlcs just so I can get some weapons and vehicles that should have been in the black market from the get go? I'm Philpax, the Lua API (and other miscellanea) developer for JC2-MP. Glad to see your overall impression of JC2-MP has been mostly positive! We've run into a lot of issues recently, but we're trying to patch everything up as soon as possible. On the subject of hit registration: as TextQUAKE said, you need to aim directly at the person for relative aim to be used. Don't ping-lead unless they're in motion; otherwise you will almost never make the shot. Lua API: I implemented most of it, so I could be a little biased; but everyone who's seen it so far has been quite pleased with it. It's somewhat reminiscent of GMod Lua, but it's different in its own way. As previously mentioned, it's completely OOP; nothing like setPlayerPosition( id, x, y, z ), but more like player:SetPosition( vector ). Feel free to ask any more questions, as long as they're not too outlandish.
