For me it just makes everything in drop-down and right click menus be in yellow text when I launch it.

During the installations a bunch of "YES/NO" questions pop up, click "Yes" on all of them. It's just asking if you want to keep the original files.
How can I speed up shipyard tasks?
How can I speed up shipyard tasks?
There is a technology under Construction/Production. One for shipbuilding itself and one for the tasks it can do (retool, expand cap, etc).
I'm going to face my fear. I'm going to install it....

Good luck and godspeed, young traveler.
I'm starting to get a hang of it. Sent a task force to the moon.
Would be better if the game didn't crash all the time.
Farthest I've gotten is colonizing Mars and making some mining stations around the solar system.
All too slow though, I ended up fucking up the careful balance of supplies and ended up ruining the entire game.
Well, the only way I can play is if I start with conventional tech, as I don't feel "attached" otherwise to my empire :) .
I tried to get into the game many times, but was getting bored of of something and I have not a single idea of what! (I was bored of it yesterday, but I don't know why).
Anyway,
Do you guys know if you can add more planets or you can only replace those existing and there can't be more pictures to be selected as planet optional images?
Considering the game flat-out crashes if it tries to call a planet image that doesn't exist, yeah I think you can just replace ones.
Also, a tip for staying attached to your empires:
Name all of your components with their manufacturers. Think up a list of companies and instead of making a '150 EP Commercial Ion Drive' make a 'Carn & Sons Ion Freight Thruster'

Well, the problem for me is, If I can add MORE planet images than there are in the folder and if they would be used.
Example would be:
there are
a1.jpg, a2.jpg, a3.jpg (...), a9.jpg, a10.jpg and that's it.
What if I would add a11.jpg, a12.jpg... Would they be added to the bucket of avaible planet images to use or game would still use only a1 - a10?
About naming things, yea I do that alot.
"Vercon Industries CNE Type 1b" For simple commercial nuclear engines that are designed for the most bulkiest ones of them, I like naming for random companies or smth like that.
So do giving my ship individual names, where their production name is close like "IGSS 1001" and I've got 3 ships of that type flying around under names of "Prometheus", "Valkyrie" and "Spartan II".
But the thing with conventional.
I set the date on our current one, and there is like good 20 years of industrial and technological improvements, it gets me attached to my empire really hard :) .

Industry -> Ship Components
Build the components that are listed in the ship design you want to build. Then go to the shipyards and build the ships.
The difference in construction time is massive.

Technically the time is the same overall. If you don't have your factories running then sure, you can build ship components. It could be useful when all your ships use the same engine or such. It decreases shipbuilding time but that time is taken over to industrial, so it isn't really shorter, just spread out.
I too name some components after companies, but the first of a high tech is generally a government name (researched by the empire not civis) and the ones after it generally have civi names.
Is it possible to speed research up in other ways than just assigning more labs to one lead scientist? And of course getting them more experience.
Research the Research Rate research project at research labs with research scientists. 'Tis a vicious cycle.
How and where do I build missiles? I've made engines and researched the warhead.
Planet construction, it's in the dropdown box
My cam is stuck in alpha centauri D:.
opening galactic map, double clicking sol or clicking sol once and hitting system map does nothing.
Edit: Scout helped me, nevermind.
How and where do I build missiles? I've made engines and researched the warhead.
The Missiles button next to the Turret button on the bottom of the econ window.
And then build them like scout said
Thanks for the help :) Now I made some nuke missiles. Nothing to shoot on yet, after like 50 years of game.
So, I'm continuing development of my conventional tech empire started in 2012.
Everything going nice and slowly, I've encountered some nasty wtf bug that caused me to keep closing the game through taskmgr due to infinite error thingy.
After few closes, I noticed that my massive sorium harvesting platform, orbiting Saturn has some weird ass problem with life support systems. Decided to order it to go back to earth for repairs and checking whats wrong. After 2 months and couple of taskmgr restarts, I've decided to scrap the platform... It was too much for me to bear it... But even more weird errors popped into the event console.
After scrapping it I've decided to continue my abandoned "Aurora Diary" where I write down history of my empire.
I will post it here with images of the errors inbetween, so just check errors if you don't want to read my broken english report of this encounter.
28th March 2044
Earth has received an emergency call from IP-SHP 2502-2041 "Goblin", the 126.000 ton Interplanetary sorium harvesting platform with almost 1500 souls on board. Goblin's mainframe computer has suffered a malfunction. Onboards scanners were detecting enormous overpopulation and because of that, life support was overloading itself to compensate for overcrowded crew. In reality, crew number was in norm. Goblin has received an order from Earth to immedietly return for inspection of what caused that failure. Goblin set course for Earth, ETA 45 days.

6th April 2044
Earth has lost all communcations with Goblin's crew. Platform was still on course to autodock on Earth. Yet, Goblin's computer were sending hundreds of weird data packets toward Earth. Intensity of packets were rising every minute. Their data was counting losses of life signs onboard. After few days since lose of contact, Earth was bombarded by these information packets causing massive damage to civilian and government communication systems. There was no success in shielding from them, ever minute Earth electronical infrastructure suffered damage. Government was ready to launch ICBM missiles to intercept platform and cease futher damage, yet decision was changed to let platform dock to rescue the crew and gather informations regarding the cause of the problem.

12th May 2044
Goblin has landed on Earth. Hundreds of emergency units moved in. First whole ship's pressure was leveled to match Earth's then millitary forces used EMP to turn off all computers onboard, in order to stop massive amount of data packets being sent by platform's computer. Rescue team moved inside, whole ship was pitchblack due to no electricity, stench in air was noticeable, dead bodies everywhere. After over 2 days of searching the harvesting platform, rescue teams managed to save around 200 remaining crew out of 1435 initial crew memebers. Cause of death of the rest, were probably life support system that tried to compensate for overcrowding, damaging themselves in the process. Platform was then designed to be researched for futher informations. During analysis of onboard computers, data packets that bombarded Earth's systems before, were being sent once again but in much higher intensity still with no viable way of shielding electronics against them. Platform was ordered to be scrapped immediately.
27th November 2044
Scrapping of IP-SHP 2502-2041 "Goblin" has been completed. Earth is still recovering from electronical damages caused by failure of onboard computer. No one is capable of understanding how onboard was capable of sending such kind of data that could cause damage on such huge scale. Science teams are considering using very small amount of recovered informations to create controllable version of damaging data packets. The remaining crew is still recovering in hospitals. Some lifesupport failsafe system were installed in hope to prevent futher errors.

So for almost 1 year I had to bear with errors (legit errors with "OK" buttons popping in my face) and wait till Goblin was scrapped. Every turn I was receiving an error about HUUUUUGE amount of dead crew on the board and even more still alive... number was growing ever since. The weird thing is, my max crew on that platform was just ~1500 people... yet I can see couple of milliards in there.
Wow, looks like some sort of horrible overflow. Post the design maybe?

Sounds like a good time to try starting with a conventional empire.

Damn, I've just installed new version.
Well, there wasn't anything unordinary.
I forgot to set deployment time to 120 months instead of 4 that were the default, it was supposed to be heavy duty harvesting platform.
Also it used only 1 engineering spaces, but it was considered a commercial ship.
It was relatively slow, for RP stand point, of only 350 km/s .
I'm getting errors after updating when I pass time now :/.
Edit: Fixed.
Edit2: What the hell was I talking about?
Oh god, excavating ruins when your only ground forces beyond the construction brigade are the starting conventional start ones is a bad idea.
I've managed to hold out so far, but I very well might lose my homeworld.
I should, probably airlift some industry to the moon maybe.

Spoke too soon, victory!
I really need to modernize my army though christ.

Just give them slightly bigger whacking sticks.
I'm working on it, but with only 4 labs to spare and no logistics researcher these things take time
Sounds like a good time to try starting with a conventional empire.
I tried conventional start as Warsaw pact with NPR nations and unions on Earth.
After one year Australia declared war on me, destroyed a ICBM base or two until I ordered ground units to attack Australia and realize that they literally have no ground units thus providing instant victory.
This apparently scared China, because it declared war on me couple of months later, and started attacking my ICBM bases with meson cannons and size 1 point-defence missiles. I launched all of my nukes at China, and while waiting for the ICBM missiles to come from orbit I got several reports of nuclear explosions everywhere that weren't targeted at me. Everyone declared war at everyone.
In the midst of the gigantic nuclear shitstorm I noticed that Australia had somehow established base in the fucking moon and had evacuated it's population there.
It was then I realized that Australia had planned for this all along.
