There is a line between complexity/difficulty and enjoyement. This game is to much of work for my taste. Although I really appreciate complex and challenging games.
Yep.
What you need to do is design the engines before you can put them in your design - press F5 to load the class windows, and then press the 'Design tech' button. Once you've done that, assign the technology as research on the research screen. It'll be under propulsion and power. Geological survey sensors are available with no research or designing needed, I believe. You just need the engine. I'd avoid building the research labs at the moment - I coped fine with only the starting few up til around the 2040s. Instead, construct construction factories or infrastructure.
Thanks, really appreciated. You know, I expected a lot more complicated game mechanics, but it seems at the beginning that everything follows a simple logic, and is easy to comprehend what specific things do. I'm already starting to like this game. The reason why I even bothered with this was because I wanted a new challence, a step up from Hearts of Irons, Sword of the Stars, and Galactic Civilizations. I already love the little details you can make to your race. This is forming to become something really really fun. Also is the crew number in "Full Summary View" in the design window a fact or just a visual thing that doesn't affect the ship's efficiency whatsoever? I find it odd for a over 1400-ton ship to have 103 crewmembers. It's like clowncar or something.

Each component requires crew to run and in combat crew can get killed which effects damage control/weapon firing etc. I believe crew also aid in trying to fight against boarding parties.
Seems cool enough, Downloading

You can set a ship to conscripted only (no limit to them) in the upper right of the ship designer window, although they will be shit at combat. I suggest changing your freighters, colony ships, etc. to conscripted though. Additionally, crew do factor in to boarding strength.
Pffft, everytime I go for the 30 days skip, the game crashes to some bizzare syntax error. Well, not crash everytime, but gives buncha syntax related errors.
Just designed and am retooling the shipyards to prepare for my new class of cruisers, that actually have missile storage this time! And just performed a deep space refuelling mission to rescue my Geological scout that became stranded.
Woo! First survey ships on their way! Those forum tutorials really came in handy Also because I am rp'ing Dritte Reich, I wear Kriegsmarine Admiral cap when playing this game. Like right now.
Will try this out
Earth is completely depleted of resources aside from Boronide and is now running off stockpiles and the output of mercury and an asteroid. Resource scans of other systems have revealed shockingly poor levels of resources on habitable planets, so I'm researching asteroid mining modules to create mining ships to get me some resources from the various asteroids.

That isn't very efficient though.
Why they had to code this game so that it just has to mess with the System32 folder? Seriously, why? Can't also play this from my flashdrive :c
Yeah, it's kinda annoying. The game didn't work well for me, and when I removed it, popup messages changed for me into some old colours.
Oh well, atleast I have some standards set for my ship classes, which are pretty much how the irl naval ships are. Based on NATO and Russian classes. Destroyers: 7000-10,000 tons Cruisers: 15,000~ tons Battlecruisers: 20,000~ tons Battleships: 25-30,000 tons
Ah, probably should have added that to the OP. When it installs, do NOT let it overwrite any DLL files. Ooh, Mars has 12,000 duranium stockpiled.
Found some minerals in Earth's moon, how do I set a mining/automated mining base there? And how to get those resourcers transported to Earth automatically then? Or how to mine asteroids?
Found some minerals in Earth's moon, how do I set a mining/automated mining base there? And how to get those resourcers transported to Earth automatically then? Do this on the 'Geo Status screen', found by pressing Geo Status on the bottom of the F2 economics window. The automated mines will start pulling up resources, send a freighter every now and then to collect them. F12 task force menu to send freighters assuming you actually built some?
I did that, but stuff still got changed I believe.
That's odd. Nothing should have changed as no DLLs were overwritten.
You may want to include a link to the wiki in the OP. It has tutorials, both quickstart and some that are more in depth on it.
Whenever I change increment time the game crashes.
Whenever I change increment time the game crashes.
Try running as administrator. Wiki link added to op.

How long does it take to learn how to play? I'd love to get back into this, but I'll need some free time.
How long does it take to learn how to play? Just follow the tutorials at the site where you download this game from. [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] Damnit

Are you sure you have Luna designated as a colony? I've never actually tried to mine it, there were always better prospects elsewhere.
It's kind of a practice before until I have the asteroid mining equipment researched. I have the Moon (Luna) set as a colony already. And since the freighter is on the Cargo Fleet, I had said fleet ordered to load automated mines at earth and unload said things at Moon (Luna), which was listed as a system location. [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] I have this kind of schedule that makes the fleet to give the "failed to load" blah blah stuff [editline]7th February 2012[/editline]
You've probably run out of automated mines on earth. That's the most common cause of that error. Also, if you want a truly automated mineral delivery system, drop a mass driver on your colony. Then configure it in the mining/maintenance screen to shoot its load at earth. It will transport 5000 tons/year by itself. Make sure you have a receiving mass driver
it's more fun when you don't and you accidentally bombard your home planet from orbit with 5000 tons of space rock and ore
it's more fun when you don't and you accidentally bombard your home planet from orbit with 5000 tons of space rock and ore
Took the words right out of my mind get out of there, its a filthy place you are a human, you cant fit there Oh and I think earth has sufficient amount of automated mines
