It could be that their order priority broke and they have a full hold and are still trying to load more. Try manually resetting their orders.

get out of there, its a filthy place
you are a human, you cant fit there
Oh and I think earth has sufficient amount of automated mines

You started with 2000 mines?
I started with 400..
It's thirty years in and I still have ..400.
Which reminds me! Earth being devoid of minerals means I can ship those mines off to other places!

That was the case, everything works now. Thanks.

I started with 2 billion Race population because lolalternativehistory
It sure is fun developing a competent interstellar empire by 2048 only to discover you're out of Solarium, which grinds everything to a massive halt.
i'm going to have to start playing this again
Damnit ships, stop taking so long to build.

Kind of realistic given how we are already stripmining everything on this planet in our greediness.
This game seriously needs descriptions to their techs and some specs.

There are descriptions. Post here for help?
It's quite useful having 2 screens for this game, seeing how it can be rather clusterfuck otherwise :v:
[editline]7th February 2012[/editline]
Oh nevermind, the resize thing from the OP works, but it turns stuff like the economics screen into an even worse clusterfuck.
fuck sakes why do threads always tend to die whenever I join the party :(

Dude it's 11:00 AM here.
I have given up on learning this game about four times now, and dammit, I'm going to try again!
My first PDS design, won't build one before I finish composite armour research.
Comments?

(note that those are just renamed, default ICBM missiles)

Seems it'll work just fine.
Although, not sure if you need fuel tanks on there.
..My Geological jump survey ship just suffered a critical failure and exploded!
The captain did.. not survive..

You ran out of maintenance supplies and it went poof. Add more engineering bays, a maintenance storage bay, or just resupply sooner.
Also I've been playing this game off and on for like two years now, it's hella fun once you learn how not to kill yourself off. I can post some of my designs if you're interested in looking at them for ideas or something.

And for stationary things like PDCs/mining barges/orbital habs, you don't need fuel because they have no engines and those don't move, UNLESS you decide to add shields onto it.

I figured, ship survived years, including a tow back without fuel.
That poor captain.
Why my gauss cannons have 0 range? :c
Why my gauss cannons have 0 range? :c
Is the range actually 0km? Gauss cannons are ridiculously short-ranged (not that they're useless, they make great point defense and strip armor like nothing else). I've got pretty advanced tech and my gauss cannons still have a range of just 40,000km. Unless you have no pertinent tech (then the game won't even let you design the system), the basic level 1 velocity gauss cannon has a range of 10,000km.

I get back with you once I get Velocity and Rate of Fire Researched to 2, currently designing a Escort.
Nope, still 0.

In Aurora universe, they probably never invented high-automatic systems or artificial intellegience given how a single size 6 turret requires 24 guys to operate it.

You need a fire control. Additionally, that thing is really slow. The CIWS is also useless except in defending itself, and if your escort cannot escort others...
I recommend teching up your engines, slapping on a few more at least, putting those gauss into turrets, and adding a fire control that matches up to the gauss turrets range and tracking. As for sensors, your res 2 sensor is horrible, get rid of it. Your res 1 sensor should be scaled down to 1.5m km if possible, as that's about as far out as you need to see missiles, especially this early in the game. Your cruisers or main ships will need a powerful sensor bank along with a passive thermal sensor or else your fleet will be practically blind. Those gauss will also not make very good ship-to-ship weapons if you come into an engagement. They tend to be shorter ranged than their laser counterparts, and due to their damage spread, they have to "sandpaper" away enemy armor. So you'll either need numbers... or the enemy needs to be missile ships with no missiles left.

Thanks for the massive amounts of tips, I didn't realize I specifically had to put them on turrets, which is a good thing now that I realized that I can actually make fuckhuge railguns and make them spinal mounted a la Pillar of Autumn.
I still haven't researched powerplants, nor any fire control systems (how to get one anyway?).
Oh, and how to mine asteroids now that I have ships with Asteroid Mining Module? Set the mining fleet to "Move to Mineral Source"? (which I have set btw)
Powerplants are kind of necessary, along with fire control systems. Note that your engines do not require powerplants to function, although lasers, particle beams, and railguns do. Turrets do take up more space than spinal mounted weapons (which can track as fast as your ship can move), but they allow tons more tracking... usually.
As far as mining with asteroid miner modules, I believe you simply position the ships above the colony you wish them to mine at. Pass 30 days and see if more minerals appear in the colony's stockpiles. If not, root through the orders menu for something that says mine, or something like that. That should do it.
How do I get firecontrol for mah turreeeets?

Also the Asteroid Miner ships don't have such command as "mine". But I remember reading from one of those tutorials that they automatically mine when they are near/at/on asteroid.

Design them.
Beam fire controls are for all direct fire turret style weapons afaik
Gauss, particle beam, laser, railgun...
