What hyperdrives do to engines? Gives them a "Cruise Speed" type ability?
Massive speed increase outside the gravity well of systems Useless in most circumstances
Explored about nine systems so far, no aliens yet. I'm not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved.

Soviet Union Also what do
Time to get the fuck out of [del]dodge[/del] Sol, obviously
But there's so many asteroids to mine, and I haven't terraformed Mars yet.
did you check titan/venus/mercury Sometimes they have shitloads of minerals
did you check titan/venus/mercury Sometimes they have shitloads of minerals
Oopsie *edit* Whelp, none of them had minerals that I have run out of. [editline]11th February 2012[/editline] Should I be regretting that I don't have any armed ships built?

Okay, I have 3 asteroids with automated mines, and 1 comet with 4 asteroid miners on it with. There's fucktons of all kinds of minerals on planets and asteroids that I don't need, and those what are vital for my industry are far and between. I have currently 2 Gev ships surveying a second system. I am in need of tips and hints because I am honestly unsure how to proceed on this. Either expand and risk running out of everything, or do little and slowly bleed to death. I have dried 4 minerals, which I have still in stock plenty of, with only one of them that is spent daily. And that is Corundium.
Corundium crunch sucks [editline]12th February 2012[/editline] I presume you've dispatched geo teams to uncover deposits?
Soviet Union Also what do
Titan, Hyperion and the four main Jupiter moons (Io, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa) should we checked out with a scout as soon as you can. [editline]11th February 2012[/editline]
I presume you've dispatched geo teams to uncover deposits?
I'm curious about this, what's the difference between a geological team and a geological survey unit on a scout? I usually just slap 2 geo/grav surveyers and a Jump engine on a Survey Scout and call it a day.

Thanks for creating the playlist. Does the "Conventional Empire" setting have real-life materials to mine, such as high-tech minerals and industrial raw-materials, metals and such? Also thinking of restarting a new game, because I got the shittiest starting resources and scientist so far. Somehow my 500 million people exhausted 4 minerals on Earth within 5 years, while it took for 1000 million in other game to deplete only one in 7 years. Also my shipyards are shit.

It's not uncommon to get low on one or two resources given the default mine amount within 10 years, but 4 within 5? Also what do you mean your shipyards are shit, the game sort of randomly shuffles the amounts and consistencies of your starting 4 stations.

Jesus no, I just slab on either 500, or 1000 million people when creating a game and call it a day. I'm not one of those who just try to make it easy for themselfs. I am researching everything.
I need more researchers.. only got two.
If I wanted to mine ores on Mars how would I go about doing that. I've been loading automated mines into my cargo ships and they've made 4 successful missions, but I only gain 2 ore every year.
Tried this game today. I had no idea what I was doing. Also it has so many options you get lost in it.
What can you do with access to the database?

Detected my first civilization. Making first conact
0.6 for Corundium which I most desperately need. Is there any way to increase the accessibility?
How many Automated Mines do you have there? Once you hit the 80+ range of automated mines you'll start seeing your mass drivers pumping out 70 ton mineral shipments a week. Also I think it's impossible to have your mines prioritize a specific element, which is odd because it'd be both a welcome game feature and fairly realistic to assume you could have a world dedicated entirely to mining out Corundium.
Well I'm going to give a go at this. I think I'll make a scenario based on Deus Ex post-Helios ascension.

They mine the maximum amount possible they can, anyway. So if you had access 1 corundium, and access 1 duranium, just focusing on corundium wouldn't get you more mineral out. It just mean you'd mine no duranium as well. Also, make sure your cargo holds can hold enough mines. Shipping 4 - 5 a trip isn't bad if it's a short trip, but don't make the mistake of trying to ship mines out to the outer asteroid belt. It took me five years to ship 60 mines up. :V
Botched first contact, Enemy destroyed my First Contact Team, sent in my strongest fleet to retaliate, destroyed an enemy ship with no casualties and am currently moving my heavy cruisers into position to bomb their homeworld
