I wonder if it's possible to port models with the mod tools for total conversions or if you have to make the models yourself
I want the Ethereal wardrobe. Skinny mind bastards they may be, but they got some fashion sense to em.
Xcom2 could probably be great for a light RPG system, with one player being the DM and manually placing enemies and laying out the map.

Someone in the D&D thread is already doing that actually, made model buildings and ships for it too.

Link?

Uhh, give me a while, it's buried under the last few pages of the thread which are arguments about alignment and the practicality of nuclear weapons with mechs.

what's there to argue about? i don't see anything wrong with this
I hope XCOM 2 doesn't ditch the guerrilla theme later in the game. I want to win it how real Guerillas win by crippling ADVENT from behind the scenes and causing them to crumble with mass uprising.
Goddamnit when they say XCom failed they really mean it.
EDIT: Well, now I just really goddamn want this game.
There was a flashback sequence at the beginning that wasn't livestreamed that showed what I believe to be the aliens attacking XCOM HQ far earlier then they did in EW in the winning timeline. It also shows some quick scenes of a thinmint planting the brainchip into the commander. That's all I can remember.

So what I've gotten so far about how the commander is back is that he's taken out of stasis that was mentioned by the new doctor and had this chip in his occipital lobe removed (presumably to allow the aliens to see what he sees).

It'd be nice to have the option of going pro once you free a country, though.

The argument was that you had 300 points to build a mech with and a nuclear warhead cost 150. [sp]The solution is to buy two[/sp]
Also I found it.
Session 7 of XCOM, featuring special guests, robot, and a rather jarring reversal!
Had an interesting session yesterday, in several senses of the word. Several old friends were in town so they joined up for the day, resulting in a slightly overstaffed mission that we're just gonna agree to sort of glaze over in that regard.
April 10th, 2016. At roughly four in the morning UFO-9 is detected coming in towards Poland, and manages to evade interception before landing next to a lake. Cue operation Bloody Hero, a totally-not-ominous-at-all mission. Three corporals, three recruits, a specialist, and a R.I.V.E.T (which one of the recruits is operating remotely). should be more than enough for a single small UFO though, right?
It's 4:30 in the morning and it's raining but they've got night vision goggles so they're feeling alright as they pile out of the Skyranger. They make contact with some Sectoids rather promptly, including one who seems to be supervising an open and glowing [Meld] canister, making it the third such canister they've seen as an organization so far. They proceed to apply their bullets to the problem rather effectively, even as a pack of Floaters comes flying out from the UFO toting carbines and shooting up the R.I.V.E.T. rather nastily.

The ayys seem to be using more grenades than before, but they manage to clear the exterior and as the rest of the squad moves up 'More C4' and Tom (aka the craziest people on the roster) breach the UFO, leading with frag and tear gas grenades respectively. Tom then proceeds to move in and get down to business with his alloy knives with Carly covering, and then almost fucking dies because he forgot that Outsider live inside of UFO power supplies and one proceeds to burn away practically all of his armor's health with several shots to the back. He does manage to knife it to death after that, burning himself because 'stabbing a being of pure energy', but still.

Mission complete, and everybody sets around to bagging up the corpses, retrieving the weapon fragments, that sort of thing. At which point the Skyranger's radar picks up something coming in very fast and very low towards the AO and everybody dives for cover, shortly before a large stone obelisk lands on the cliff above the UFO without disturbing the earth at all and begins spewing suppressive flechettes and what the soldiers will soon realize are high-lobbed mortar shells.
'Tortuga' draws their fire while most of the rest of the squad start high-tailing it to the Skyranger, except for the two special guest recruits who proceed to go balls-out. One of them chucks an HE grenade up the cliff and manages to actually damage the obelisk, while the other starts climbing said cliff to get a closer look and also to toss a couple more HE grenades next to it before climbing back down.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/QJXCmuG.jpg?1[/t]
At which point several things happen in quick succession. First, the mortar shells start to land, blasting open the roof of the UFO and then blowing it the fuck out with a shell directly to the power supply.
Second, a squad of strange towering stone pillar-legged creatures emerge from the obelisk, with six legs and actual individual markings. One of them begins laying down smoke, to cover the one who heads for the [Meld] canister, while the third begins fussing with the damaged exterior of the craft.
That poor third fucker gets shot at by practically everybody with LOS and then the two HE grenades next to him go off, killing him rather completely.
In response the creatures launch more smoke and some incendiary grenades to cover their retreat, retrieving the corpse and flying away.

In the aftermath, Tom earned a nickname! The squad settled on Ka-Bar, which I agree is pretty appropriate. They also named the new strange aliens as 'Bforts', which apparently stands for 'big fuck-off rock things'. They also decided to make Frejr 'Tortuga' Fridjof their first officer, which is probably a good call.

That was last week. This week our second session of M&M went alright, though the game is apparently going to be a bit darker than I first expected. The other players still haven't figured out what I'm actually playing, though they've gotten close guesses.
Forgot another thing, it's confirmed that rooms are "excavated" by cleaning them of alien shit.

You're doing good work, spying for us over there.
So I was requested to do Nanomachine Shen

Quite possibly literally - who knows what kind of bizarre alien rat analogs or whatnot are crawling around in there.

That is super cool. I originally meant that an Xcom2 mod could implement a GM mode into the game. If you made all the stats editable and the dice rolls transparent you could have a full fledged XCOM RPG mode.
Someone in the D&D thread is already doing that actually, made model buildings and ships for it too.
Hi!
Yeah I've been meaning to put together a pastebin or something eith links to all of my session writeups, since time spreads them out so much.
It doesn't help that I'm like a month and a half and three (about to be four) sessions behind on them, but I'll get around to it soon! [sp]Those last three sessions cover the first terror mission, conveniently enough[/sp]

Snark infestation.

Yeah, I like Gorilla-COM but XCOM also has that fantasy of being a squad of tactical kitted out cool dudes that go hard & pro on them alyums.
Carapace Armor + a mix of default and Exalt Laser Weapons in the original XCOM with the right color scheme looked insane. I don't see much 'insane' happening with a guerilla styled XCOM. Even if you do tech up later on, it's likely that they'll strive to mantain that guerilla theme by roughing up certain aspects of your newly researched armors and weapons.

My uniforms always went in the following way;
Rookies wear red with the classic haircut, Soldiers wear the shades'N'beret combo in jet black, and Psyops get a clean shave.
Brain in a jar flying like a gremlin?
Considering that we find Shen's body in the Avenger, but probably won't know how we died... he's probably and uploaded AI now.
I tried color-coding classes, but now I just give people colour and accessories based on what I feel fits them.
Considering that we find Shen's body in the Avenger, but probably won't know how we died... he's probably and uploaded AI now.
WHAT
Where did they say we find Shens body?
that's vahlen
Yes I know. I imagine this is Shen butting in after Vahlen's said that.
Beags is truly suffering on stream. So much so he's playing the wake me up inside song
Vahlen is "lost"
Richard Tygan is ex-ADVENT and has an X scar on the back of his head
Scientists and Engineers have names and nationalities now
Can add staff to areas to increase recover/creation time
Raymond Shen is dead and Lilly Shen is Raymond Shens daughter
Raymond Shen found the Avenger before dying
Lilly has a pet Gremlin
Experimental ammo/grenades are randomized
Can train Rookies straight into classes now
Soldiers have customizable attitude/demeanor
Venom Ammo is a thing
Can get shot down which leads to a special mission type
Something, something, everything is a conspiracy.
