Beags had a squad wipe on stream RIP
This looks amazing. My hype was pretty quiet on this one since that reveal trailer, but it's getting me excited again!
Also, that incubator thing? - it can give random skills from other classes to soldiers.
oh my god yes
In the Zone Ranger?
In the Zone Ranger?
Imagine just slicing and dicing your way through an entire mission with just one ranger [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] "this poll important to the campaign" thanks beagle [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] beagle's mod kinda broke
85 aliens seems a tad extreme. I find it hard enough when I get around 50 of them in one mission.
Could the Ayys be using the resistance as another way of testing humanity? They put the Commander in stasis and the council guy is still around... and the Avenger is a pretty big ship for one they abandoned.

I'm still wondering why they kept the Commander alive. There has to be some REALLY good reason for that.

[editline]7th August 2015[/editline]
Also, that incubator thing? - it can give random skills from other classes to soldiers.
according to Bradford in the Gamescom trailer thing, it has something to do with gene modding. From what I have gathered about it, you can only change you're soldiers skills, not cross over classes.
:mystery: I'm almost certain that it's going to be a central point of the games narrative. If not that it will most likely be a part of it.
The Commander is actually a gene-modded Chryssalid made to look like the Commander?
I thought at first they kept him alive because of our superior tactical mind but uh, considering XCOM2 is even happening I guess not.
Could be that the aliens captured a lot of people and put them into stasis when they took over. This gave them an easy way to study human DNA and incorporate it into their own servant species, as people would just assume they died in the attacks. The Commander could have just been another one of these captives, albeit one that XCOM has a special interest in freeing.

(I forgot the name of that section)
Then why the chip in the visual receiving part of the brain? (I forgot the name of that section)
Maybe it's more like a cryostatic prison. The Commander is judged an enemy of the state, but since the Advent is such a ~~peaceful and caring~~ organization, they abolished the death penalty, to be replaced by being made an example of as a frozen lap-dog under permanent surveillance.
Something to note, it was mentioned that there are five classes, the last of which has not been shown yet. When the guy goes to the training menu we only see four classes. This gets my speculation muscles flexing.

There was one scene where some soldiers deployed from the skyranger, some of which were wearing carapace armour, which leads me to assume that the attacked HQ within the first two months. I kind of want that 5th heavy class to be a heavy armor and heavy duty counterpart of the Ranger. Imagine a Paladin class that wields this big ass kinetic hammer and goes around batting aliens out of the park. Since the Ranger acts as a melee/infiltrator scout unit, the Paladin could be a support/tank unit meant to shoulder the hits similar to MECs. I'm not very creative but damn I want more heavy things.
We've only seen stuff from the early game so far, I have a feeling that the 5th class relates to the late game - something like a pistol toting squad leader, dedicated psionics class or a shiv cowboy.

5th class is super rookie insanely good stat gain rate but emits a bad-luck aura within a three tile radius
5th class is super rookie insanely good stat gain rate but emits a bad-luck aura within a three tile radius
Also misses 100% shots and always hits anything below 50%.
Also misses 100% shots and always hits anything below 50%.
"Commander, does this meat taste a little strange to you? Also, where are the rookies?" "Well, it all began when I wondered if it was possible to extend the 'beginners luck' effect"
Just imagine you lead an x-com operation to kill yourself then just as you reach the final room with the commander in the door of our basement dwelling abode explodes and in walks our squad leader and double taps us to our dome winning the game.
I imagine the fifth class is going to be pretty drastically different than the other ones. Like how MECs played completely differently from the other classes. Maybe it'll be a psi class, revamped so that it's different enough from the normal classes to warrant a new class designation? We know they're adding in more psi abilities like reanimate, maybe they've decided to make it a whole new class.
If they handled psionics like how EW handled MECs that could explain it yeah. Starting ability is based on your former class but you're all still just the same psionic class.
That would be a really bad move IMO if they treat Psi as it's own class, instead of it being a subclass like EU/EW. Also it wouldn't make any sense, how exactly are you to train a psionic in this new fashion like the other rookies? What would mean everyone is gifted, but EU/EW stated that only some soldiers with a high Will are gifted.
Fifth class is probably Sectoid hybrids.
