Does that mean that we can literally beat our soldiers stupid and have them be re-purposed for different skills?
Well they mentioned the option for re speccing soldiers, not sure if it's a loophole of the system as you imply or a legit feature. The exact phrasing is "retrains soldier abilities" so it sounds like it just returns the ability they already had.

I think it would be pretty strange, frustrating and kinda pointless if your soldiers could randomly lose abilities. Imagine your Major sniper losing squadsight! I guess we'll have to wait and see, as with a lot of other things.
Hmmm, so what about randomly gaining abilities too? Like raiding a gene lab and stray plasma explodes a canister and a soldier gets covered in Fluid X. After 14 days in the medbay they wake up with a snektongue or thinmint toxin drool. [editline]8th August 2015[/editline] Or you abandon the critically wounded and they come back to haunt you in floater form.
(apologies for the crappy quality, best I can find from Gamescom) Judging from the music here, Tim's doing pretty well with it.
I think we'll get an official video on Monday, probably also with the extra scenes that where seen in the booth. Once they uploaded it we can listen to the music properly, even though the audio recording is okay considering how he must have got it.
Went to Gamescom and checked out the X-com 2 booth. Was pretty disappointing, just a trailer with some guy speaking over it while the music was drowned out by NBA fans next to us. In case nobody mentione dit yet: the engineers and scientists are named and you can let them lead projects for stuff like +100% research speed and whatnot. Seems each of them will fill a niche. the UI implies there's a max amount of contacts you can have with rebel cells in various regions. Presumably this is the satellite mechanic again, where you need to have contact with rebels who point you towards shit that needs to be blown up or infiltrated or whatever.

You never know these days.

When I was there, he just told us the usual "blah blah you lost in XCOM blah blah future blah blah" and played the trailer. Did you get the extended trailer too? The one with the flashback and procedure, as well as the interception? Speaking of which, if I recall correctly, the UFOs still look the same, but I sort of expected them not to change much.
There was an extended trailer shown at Gamescom?
The trailer shown at Gamescom started with the commander having flashbacks while having an implant removed from his brain to show XCOM fail during the first game and also how he had this implant placed by a thin man. Then it cut to the trailer as you know it, however it also has an extended ending which shows the Avenger being shot down by a scout UFO and crashing.

I need my extended scenes and HD goodness.

Xcom lost, this is 20 years into the future, told us that some names would be familiar to people who played Enemy Unknown and rolled the trailer. Afterwards he finished up saying it'd be released in November (If I remember correctly :v: ) and that was that. I was hoping for a hands-on demo but nope.

I also think that they might have a demo for the game up to download at some point after that, but I don't know if we'll get it before release.
Iv'e never completed an Impossible iron man run, i wish i could say it was because i fuck up because i could at least learn from it. Sadly it's just the game deciding to break, crashing to desktop, never ending alien turns, not being able to order my units just having to backspace the turn and pray for the best. And by god my absolute favorite of all had just happened and involved alot of bullshit wit line of sight, it constantly fucked me. I wish i recorded my game play because the shit i just had to endure was beyond belief. On a terror mission i activated 2 pods of crysalid through a building with no windows who then proceeded to fuck off onto the roof which i had no access to and it turns out the game spawned 15 of 18 civis up there with them so it literally rained zombies, ok fuck it looks like im trench warfaring this shit then. Later on in the same game there was a dead civilian lying on the floor with nothing near it for 2 full turns. So i moved my squad up and over watch. Fucker turns out to be delayed zombie who then killed my assault. Then on the next turn despite clearing being in sight none of my squad had a shot on it so i had to move everyone away into the open to shoot the fucking thing when i activated a pod of floaters through another wall and had no shot on them, i managed to kill the zombie but then lost the game because all my squad was then shot through the wall by the floaters. :mindblown: I have never seen such assfuckery in anything outside of Ironman. It's just a constant barrage of what's gonna brake next roulette for me.

It would be cool to fight alongside friendly resistance fighters in certain missions.

Ok can we stop discussing the tumblr incident and talk instead about XCOM

I wonder if it gonna be possible to send scientists and engineers into the field as a desperation move and vice versa. "You never hit shit! Fuck off to the workshop you loser" [editline]9th August 2015[/editline] Or a scientist could come to you and ask you to place them into combat service. That would be great too.
