am in a full blown fatigue spiral and had to send a squad of rookies and specs on a heavy abduction and one of them rolled really high starting aim, stacked all the good equipment on her and she calamitously missed every fucking shot, probably a dozen >60% percent shots, miraculously survived being blown out of cover and shot twice despite getting another rookie killed, and survived the mission bleeding out while the rest of the squad mopped up her mess. mathematically it made total sense to keep her over other lower aim rookies but, bam, dismissed
Sometimes I would swear there's a secret personalized luck stats.
It would be cool to fight alongside friendly resistance fighters in certain missions.
Yeah, I've always wanted to have an AI or player operating alongside you ingame with their own units and turns. I was actually kind of surprised that there wasn't military personnel in those XCOM 1 missions where you went into the tank yard.
Why not make a comic about politically correct sneks? It'd be funny because it's social commentary. V:v:V
Done. :dead:
:v:=sarcasm :chillout: [editline]9th August 2015[/editline] But seriously, calm down, guys.
:vs: is sarcasm now. Are the mod tools going to be available at launch?

Alright so, haven't played XCOM in a week, let's see what we go-- [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/436074066850809189/09488DDF840556C0B7E827A75061B1B3EAEF685A/[/t] --Oh... Oh ok, so they can tight rope walk now? "Ayy lmao humans, watch me as the recoil on my twin cannons push me off this traffic light post"
I am still playing with my fouled up Long War and saves, and at one point I had to edit the multipliers for plasma weapons (becasue all of them took +300 days to build). I played some more, and everything was looking fine, but then it reached new levels of absurdity.
Did you take a video of what it did in a battle?
I might as well...

Swapped the video for one with the original footage, plus some shots of it in action, plus memes.
I think ive been playing just a tad too much xcom lately. I went in to uni yesterday to serve as a student rep for open day and as I was walking in I hear a rather distant bird call that sounded eerily like the noise the thin men make. :tinfoil:
hnng coming up with good ideas for comics is hard [editline]9th August 2015[/editline] I also got hit by a 1% shot from thin man recently wanted to kill myself
Well i just used my my allocation of luck for this year. Carapace Armour and bullets on ironman imp. Had 2 turn's left to start the train on that china mission. I got held up by a single thin mint bastard who survived 2 over watch shots and then 5 god damn 75%+ shots but i eventually rooted him out which gave my assault an opening to boot it to within a half turn of the controls. I had no choice but to settle for half cover. moved everyone up and got ready for the fresh spawns. Except a bastard thin mint had escaped a rocket that was suppose to kill all 3 of his pod before they activated. He rocked up just next to my Assault who had 5 hp. G fucking G Xcom. Except he failed to crit my guy and he survived with 1 hp, who then panicked and killed the TM in return but then hunkered down. On the last bloody turn. But by the grace of god i had a support hovering just behind just In case some bullshit happened who could make it by a square after poison had wore off leaving them on 1hp. So in down drop the final 2 aliens and not a single overwatch is triggered because lol. A muton and a TM both in easy enough positions to root out but both on Overwatch. I had 4 guys to work with as i needed the support to move into the end zone and as my assault and his lightning reflexes was sitting this one out because he's a goddamn yellow bellied coward. The Aliens HAD to die or it was GG. First shot, 69% chance to hit, 10% critical on a TM. down 2 just 1 hp. Wonderful start 2nd Shot, 89% chance to hit, 60% critical, Fantastic i love those odds... Fucking misses. Ok great and the 2 guys left havent got an angle on the TM so it's staying alive, just brilliant . Heavy deals 4 damage to the Muton, not bad i guess but this is all pointless now. My sniper has a 45% chance to hit and a 0% chance to crit because he was using squadsight and headshot on a cooldown. Well that's it folks shows over we're fucked he can only do a max of 5 damage and i need 6. I now basically have to dash the support and hope for the best against 2 OW one of them a TM who's not gonna miss. Except i had one last hand to play, disabling shot. A 35% chance to hit shot, The bastard managed to land it. Leaving me with 1 date with destiny a dash past the TM. I clicked the go button and watched in amazement as the TM put his shot 5 miles wide of my support. Holy Fuck i actually survived and the best part is the mission ended at the end of that turn, it played the cutscene and my squad all hopped onto the skyranger and GTFO'd leaving the aliens to wallow in self pity while my entire newly promoted squad celebrated with a 15 day layoff in the infirmary. I now have a large scout mission to handle with nothing but 2 corporals, 2 squaddies and 2 rookie's. This will be fun.
hnng coming up with good ideas for comics is hard
Not really original (or a comic) but you should draw a thin man doing the matrix dodge with 90%/95% signs around him.
Oh boy, OpenTFTD is out and already compatible with the Android version. I can finally waste more hours commanding CtuhuluCOM from my bed :v:
I just had an absolute star soldier in my Open X-COM campaign. Santiago Santa-Cruz physically can not give a fuck, I noticed when I recruited him, "he's got an unusually high HP" and in his first mission. He tanked the fuck out one alien grenade, next turn another alien grenade gets thrown at him, he kills the ayy with a reaction shot, before tanking the fuck out of the second one.

Kinda wish grenades had a "Sánta's got a present for ya" line
Well then, I tried ordering the "Bradford shirt" and an XCOM patch so I could be a cool guy (and because I love military clothing in general), so I found a British military surplus store and ordered a medium-sized commando shirt, and then got to a separate patchmaker site to find XCOM's traditional "Vigilo Confido" patch. Turns out it's like 60 GBP total if I include postage fees. Fuck that, I'll find another way. Why must it be so expensive.
If you want a commando sweater and you live in Finland what are you doing Varusteleka has got you covered in four distinct flavours! Of course the British model is out of stock right now, but that doesn't stop you from getting a french one, or an austrian one, or even a german one. All good substitutes. [editline]10th August 2015[/editline] Though the french one is the closest and the same price so heh
I did actually consult Varusteleka first before looking at options. Unfortunately the Brit one is, as you said, OOS and I'd like to get as authentic as possible. So I turned to other options. I wonder when they'll restock, it'd be great to stream XCOM 2 at launch with a webcam and Bradford swag on. edit: and aviators, because I look like a douchebag with those on

I think a XCOM cosplay team of 4 guys would be extremely cool, though I dunno what armor you'd pick to be easily recognized as a group of XCOM characters. I guess the easiest one would be the initial pre-upgrade equipment?

That being Bradford gear and pistols. I'd really love to see a grittier, realistic depiction of XCOM EU gear. I know, it's not the style they went for, but like fan art and shit.
How the hell is is the normal armor more cartoonish than titan armor?
:alien:
*muffled ayy lmao in the distance*
:alien:
Really reminds me of this
How the hell is is the normal armor more cartoonish than titan armor?
The normal armor's a bit too smooth and looks like foam. Titan Armor looks like it's made of actual metal and has a suit underneath, plus the neck cover seems fairly reasonable if it was intended to be used with a helmet (and realistically you want a helmet with something that strong and protective)
Maybe a good cosplay group could be Bradford, Shen, Vahlen, and shadowy council bald guy?
