So my rookies just missed 17 50% shots in a row. Claps slowly. Nothing special, just venting a bit. As an attempt to post something remotely on-topic: was anyone else here prompted to read up a bit on how randomness actually works from playing XCOM?
Apoc was bugy, but good. Enforcer was Arcade Shooter trash.
I used disable shot on a little sectoid on overwatch. Big mistake because this really pissed him off. He used up 4 lightning reflexes from my assaults and got 2 hits on my troops before I decided to just execute him. I just wanted to stun you little guy!
I played a little of Apoc and I thought it was really interesting. Enforcer isn't even fun. I dont recall off hand why I don't like interceptor, either unintuitive gameplay or it had a problem with modern systems, I don't recall which exactly.
Enforcer is arcade shooter, but I found it fun. Campy as hell.
Enforcer is the best game in the series.
Enforcer is the best game in the series.
Oh I know, that's why I made a nice XCOM folder case for it too in the OP, just like all the XCOM games... Oh wait...
Who's still playing with FP names? Am I dead yet?
Get Xenonauts, it's like the OG but with a better intercept and suppression.
Xenonauts makes a lot of improvements over the original but for some reason I find it doesn't have the same charm as the original does.
Xenonauts makes a lot of improvements over the original but for some reason I find it doesn't have the same charm as the original does.
For me it's the incredibly utilitarian art design that puts me off. I don't mind the Xenonauts themselves being utilitarian, but there's no flair or charm to it. The game is very drab, which is a shame because it makes it hard to keep playing even when I enjoy it.
The best part of x-com for me was how the artstyle screamed 90s saturday morning cartoon, that shit still looks great even today. [editline]14th August 2015[/editline] one of my biggest complaints about apoc is that the artstyle is muddy and boring.
Yeah, the art style is Xenonauts is really off putting. I can bet it's great game.
Strategy data dump Analysis: - Engineers needed to clear rooms - Rooms have more possible unearthable resources than power - Experimental items include 'Shredder Cannon', Flamethrower and Rocket Launcher. - Black Market data - buy/sell resources, spend intel for research rush - can be used if player falls behind to avoid a loss - Alien facilities can lead to a lose condition if unchecked in their expansion - Secondary (resistance) objectives can be timed. - Rumor sites - resource sites that can be found that yield any ingame resource at the cost of time - the Gamescom convention hall was an example - Mission type revealed: Supply Raid - unlocked by aiding the resistance.

I wonder if you can play rival campaigns to others? P1 X-com, P2 the aliens. You've both got research now. Then someone mods in other factions like EXALT and... Different aliens and whatever else there was in the original game. For more players... Hmm. 1v1 is probably the best way to do it. But it's worth a try.
Yeah, the art style is Xenonauts is really off putting. I can bet it's great game.
Unless it's changed since release it got really bullshitty. Aliens became super accurate and would hit you behind cover. Not to mention when you ran into the teleporting enemies they'd teleport right behind you and just throw grenades at your guys.
Last devblog I read, apparently the teleporting guys in xenonauts were heavily nerfed, which is good overall, but it left a feeling of them being a bit useless, "neutered", I think was the word used to describe them.
- Experimental items include 'Shredder Cannon', Flamethrower and Rocket Launcher.
ALL MY FUCKING MONEY! This is what Xcom EU and EW lacked. A flamethrower regular troopers could use. I really hope it's not like the MEC's flamethrower with only two uses though.
ALL MY FUCKING MONEY! This is what Xcom EU and EW lacked. A flamethrower regular troopers could use. I really hope it's not like the MEC's flamethrower with only two uses though.
Probably just something that's used like a grenade.
- Experimental items include 'Shredder Cannon', Flamethrower and Rocket Launcher.
All flamethrower terrorist squad confirmed.

gleep gloop has been promoted to glorblompadomp
God fucking dammit every classic run I attempt ends on Portent.
God fucking dammit every classic run I attempt ends on Portent.
If it's Vanilla then you can play the map by memory because the spawns are always the same. Not sure if the number changes based on difficulty but for impossible. 8 Thin mints start off in the map already in pairs and they don't patrol Using the starting camera angle they are placed as followed and my go to tactic if i don't have a squad sight sniper 1) one pod is on the right side of roof of the 2nd building just next to the BIG AC units. - Take a heavy on the road to just behind the APC and put a rocket up there, easy kills. IF you don't have a heavy then you need to use the right hand corner of your roof and hope they don't take high cover when they move so you can shoot them with 65/75% shots. It's not ideal but i always pack a rocket for this mission. 2) is just in font and to the right of the door on the second building. - Get everyone from the sky ranger side on the roof and stay 1 tile away from the ledge on the left of your building and keep the ladder (on the aliens side) to the left of your nearest squad member because they have a line of sight up there. When every one is ready lob a grenade down to knock their health down then use the roof to flank their positions usually on the left of the building behind the rubble, us a grenade as insurance if you fail to shoot them dead. 3) is on the right hand side of the second building near the small car between the APC's. - There's no easy way to deal with these guys because they split up one always goes into the trench and the other behind the car or if he's feeling like a prick he goes behind the high cover truck. Pray to the RNG gods for this one if you cannot spare a grenade. 4) Behind the Truck Cab at the back of the map near the VIP, the trailer is at an L angle. - These guys you can get right next to or use the roof. They will use the trailer for cover if they spot someone on the roof so you can bait them into an easy flank. Once you deal with them the aliens won't show up anymore until you get to the VIP. At which point 8 more thin mints drop in and 1 sectoid with them but they all drop in the same places and same order. And If you move the VIP slow enough you can force the aliens to spawn in 1 at a time so you can deal with them with much better odds and none of them use cover till the final roof, one bastard will drop in behind you on top of the L truck and he will catch you up so you have to deal with him when he drops in so leave a lurk or 2. Best advice is to take your time, you know where the aliens are you avoid setting too many off at once. If a Thin Mint gets a chance to take a turn then you're likely gonna lose who ever they shoot at and given the timing of the mission the chances are if they spit poison you're squad will go into meltdown and panic. So basically kill them all the moment you encounter them. On impossible it's was a right cunt of a mission due to it's timing but iv'e never lost it now iv'e learned the spawns, though if you have a squad sight sniper it does get a lot easier to deal with.
An Ethereal wanted to have dinner with Dr Vahlen, but sadly he didn't have a reservation. [t]http://i.imgur.com/blHssTf.jpg[/t] I didn't know that Ethereals could appear in vanilla base defense, dropped my spaghetti when I saw him appear.

You can get Sectoid Commanders, Ethereals, and Sectopods. I don't think I've ever seen elite mutons, though.

I didn't see any Sectopods, but I wasn't prepared for an Ethereal to show up.

Right as I had decided to gene mod my 3 best soldiers at the same time. "I'm fucking unstoppable! What could go wrong? I can throw a mission while they're busy!"
Is there really any point to Furies? I finished it today and it was simply boring. All that spawned on me was a bunch of thin mints and 3 Mutons. The rush to the console was boring because of how absurdly long the time you're given is. Anyone else feel this way?

In the cutscene where one dude shoots near Anette they used the conventional weapon sound, assuming that it's intentional, it seems like that mission was supposed to be done in the first 2 months. They probably pushed it back so that there could be some storyline missions late in the game
