It feels like the whole mission arc is supposed to happen far earlier in the game then it currently does. In the cutscene where one dude shoots near Anette they used the conventional weapon sound, assuming that it's intentional, it seems like that mission was supposed to be done in the first 2 months.
They probably pushed it back so that there could be some storyline missions late in the game
I know it was part of a canned DLC that was meant to be like Slingshot, but it's like they didn't even try with the last mission. I got at least five Mechtoids in Deluge and took them out no problem with at least 6 turns remaining, which wasn't too bad, but getting Thin Men as your main enemy in a mission after you've assaulted the alien base (by which point you should at least have light plasma) is frustratingly boring.
As much as I like that they included Progeny in EW, I would have rather seen them develop it as another Slingshot-eque pack so it got more polish.

Some mission names are great.

I've had Hot Mother twice in the same campaign, beat that!

I sincerely hope that it's not referring to Gleepborp's mother.

It's a weird set up for the DLC. Progeny (porten) is an absolutely brutal council mission for when you get it, going into this mission as worst case scenario, 4 rookies or squaddies, conventional weapons and no Armour upgrades. Against 16 thin mints and a sectiod. It's difficulty is befitting the 3rd or 4th month when you've researched weapons, ranked people up beyond shit tier, have at least one squad size upgrade and got carapace. But yet every mission after that is a peice of piss, in fact they are all easy because the aliens spawn in exactly the same place on every DLC mission. Once you know this and you've learned them it makes every single one of these mission a free XP farm with OP rewards.
I like the idea of the missions though and developing a wider story was interesting, but sadly all quiet under developed. Slingshot was better overall and Deluge was fun though I'll get them that.
You also get Annette way too late into the game. By that point I've already got a Psionic Colonel. Why go to the trouble of leveling up some Sergeant? Hell, all but once I've finished the game before Furies even appeared, so you sure as fuck aren't going to bother with the three soldiers you get from that one.
why do you guys play the DLC? i wasn't aware people actually did, thought they were largely ignored. they're pretty bad and they interrupt the flow of the campaign imo.
I like Zhang and i prefer the security of knowing with portent i wont get a bomb defusal mission in the 2nd month.
those are my reasons

I thought the dlc added some very welcome sub plots as to what was going on. I would appreciate more of those mini-stories. Like the X-Files, most of the plot points and interesting details come out in the little side parts of the plot.
thanks to long war chryssalids don't even slightly scare me. fuckers don't even use cover. the true stuff of nightmares are the pods of 10 elite mutons and mechtoids, or the 16 foot tall sectopods that have health bars that are even taller. and the 4 berserkers that are there to give you a meet and greet right as you walk off the skyranger
Do you know what I'd like in a future XCOM? Two part missions. Oh yes.

Explain.
Explain.
Like fighting through a bunch of aliens to get to an access lift and then enter a base to strike at some target - you fight the mission with what people and consumables you have remaining from the first level. Like the ship or base missions in TFTD.

Gives a pretty good reason to have more than one medic, that's for sure.

It's a completely new mutator on the existing strategies.
the fifth class better not be a fucking dog

X-Dog. Then, X-Walker. Then Sniper perk that grows female boobs 3 times in size. Then, partnership with Konami.
And finally, at the end of the long road, we'll get X-Com pachinko machine.
I wouldn't mind ADVENT using some kind of search dog later in the game to counter stealth. Pointing troops in your direction but not blowing your cover.
The fifth class is a drone with two health that has been converted to XCOM via arc thrower.

Aren't Chryssalids way too dumb and aggressive to be trained?

I was thinking a return of the Reaper - they brought back the snakes, why not floater's best friend?
I need XCOM cyborg dogs with Shen's face on it.

You know, I don't understand why the Normal difficulty doesn't use default status variables for some aliens. So, Thinmen lose 1 HP and 2 Damage. Exalt loses 10% aim as well. Why not just have those modifiers be already included?
Just finished Enemy Within on Classic mode, first time I've beaten the game on that difficulty. 600 aliens died over the course of the campaign, and over 130 of those kills were by my sniper (who later became the Volunteer), Leonard "Epsilon" Church.
I'm disappointed that I saw nothing from Enemy Within in the Temple Ship Assault, not even a Seeker.
i for one hope we get shivs again, but I hope that's not going to be the fifth class.
Plot twist; Fifth class is pilot. We get a UFO shootdown minigame.
So Xenonauts 2 is being discussed:

Maybe if they make better art assets Xenonauts 2 will feel less like a cheap knock-off of Stargate and more like something I'd be interested in playing. The alien designs in Xenonauts just put me off the game entirely.
I finally managed to win my first Ironman impossible run.
12 dead, 9 of which were subject to complete bullshit circumstances centered around the game breaking itself to personally fuck me over. But i persevered, had 7 countries leave, no continent bonuses except starting bonus. Did not get carapace and essentially skipped lasers to plasma escept for some liberated exalt snipers and heavies. Had 1 support virtually all game till i finished the Portant mission se, too late for her to be any uset. endless heavies clogging up my barracks, but fuck it rockets for everyone. No mecs, no augments.
But i got there in the end, after a long and arduous glitch ridden game i barged into the temple ship and my double tap sniper told the rest of my squad to sit the last turn one out as he landed 2 50% hit 50% crit shots in a row on the uber etheral after the cutscene. Fuck you ya alien cunts.
Bring on Xcom 2 i'm done here.
