So apparently the panel isn't being streamed, its being recorded and put up after PAX according to Pete Murray even after they've been advertising it on other networks streams, saying that's where we'll be getting new info. Get it together Firaxis marketing/technical team
balls
Has Firaxis pissed off someone higher ranking at 2k?
Alright so far what I can gather from the very small amount of tweets out there is that we're getting a novel for XCOM, which I assume has the lead up for us losing/the 20 year gap and that there's a new enemy called the Faceless which is a blob that can shapeshift into the appearance of civillians
there's a new enemy called the Faceless which is a blob that can shapeshift into the appearance of civillians
Terrifying.
"Came out of the mega panel a little bit ago. Soloman's big deal was a new reveal in customization. You can customize characters and save them to a "character pool" for random generation later or in later games. You can also designate them as scientists, engineers, and guys for missions (VIP's, named baddies, etc.) Saw the new chryssalid. More spikey, more antlike than fishlike. Same general look aside from the mentioned. Saw the Grenadier in action, good destructive capability. Advent me has small mortar that does similar, at least level 2 versions." "Also revealed a new alien type that dissolves(?) civilians and becomes them (sleeper agents?) in a teaser at the end (0 context). Named the Faceless if I'm remembering correctly. And a new melee Advent soldier that has a chance to stun your operatives. Lots of cool animation. Destruction looks amazing. Showed Sectoid resurrection." "Practically nothing but new footage. Saw some more custom options. Saw the Muton melee animations. They can do a cou by er attack if next to something that hits them. Saw Berserker animations. She can be provoked into a blood rage th art causes her to attack ANYTHING nearby, friend or foe. Saw Chrysalid animations and cacoon they put on infected units. Saw Sectoid reanimation ability. Affected units have the zombie animation lost from chrysalid. Sectoid has a chance to "glitch" back into their scurry movement animations. Saw a new Advent unit: Shock Lancer. Pure melee human zealot, will forsake cover to move closer. Can stun but has chance to knock unconcious. Jake mentioned they would be awesome if they were on your team. "Mind control them and they'll be awesome.""
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/3iv8oj/where_can_we_watch_the_xcom_2_favorite_feature/
Jake mentioned they would be awesome if they were on your team. "Mind control them and they'll be awesome.""
Psi soldiers confirmed then, if there was any doubt.
Well that panel was fun! It was recorded and I think it will be posted sometime soon.
persons in the video game industry should be taxed for using the word "soon"
the importing soldiers from other campaigns as potential vips or even enemy units sounds like amazing potential for stories
the importing soldiers from other campaigns as potential vips or even enemy units sounds like amazing potential for stories
Sounds like you can only rename enemy units, rather than full customization. Makes sense given that their masks cover most of their faces.
...there's a new enemy called the Faceless which is a blob that can shapeshift into the appearance of civilians
I wonder what the interaction with civilians will be like in XCOM2. This alien makes it sound like we will have to get close to them, but the skyranger only arrives at the end of a mission so I doubt it will pick civvies up as it did in XCOM1 terror missions.
Thin Men are now recruitable due to them being mega pissed about being made obsolete
As puritan as I am about XCOM remaining human only, no ayys or beep boops allowed, this would admittedly be pretty badass. If only for the sake of the satisfaction you'd get for using them. Imagine them scaling on difficulty; Impossible Ironman would have your Thin Mints have unprecedented accuracy and spit poison at enemy lmaos across the map. And then crit them in high cover.
Thin Men are now recruitable due to them being mega pissed about being made obsolete
Muhahaha, an entire army of After Eights :excited: [editline]30th August 2015[/editline] The aliens shall feel my pain a thousandfold.
For those playing LW JCLewis released an interesting mod that changes how DR works and allows you to chip away at it. For example now you can actually take down drones with smgs/pistols early game http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom/mods/628/?
Theres "oh this is hard because long war" and then theres the shit I keep getting. 6 chrystalids all occupying a space of 2 tiles at the same time because they werent spotted, they got triggered after the truck they were hiding behind exploded and revealed them giving them a free move action which placed them within 2 tiles of every single one of my squad members of whom 3/4 had already had their turn. for fucks sake.
Found the amazon page for the book. It's called XCOM2: Resurrection. Written by Greg Keyes and is 240 pages long. It has a release date for November 10th which would be a nice way to tide us over till the game comes out but it probably just hasn't been updated yet. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xcom-2-Resurrection-Greg-Keyes/dp/1608877124/ref=sr_1_14?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1440957734&sr=1-14&keywords=xcom Anyone here read any of his stuff before?
For the longest time, I haven't been able to get X-Com EU or EW to launch. I get the launcher, I can choose between the two, but after that nothing happens. It even says on Steam I'm running EW until I end the process (which for some reason, takes a while). Has anyone had this problem and does anyone have a fix? Tried renaming the folder, that didn't work. Tried launching directly from the application, also didn't work. Nothing seems to work.
Whenever that happens to me, restarting steam seems to fix it.
I don't know what happened but apparently it works. As in, the launcher actually opens twice then takes an inordinate amount of time to actually launch. Trying it now for Enemy Within. EDIT: It works, something's fucky with how it launches but it works.
Thin Men are now recruitable due to them being mega pissed about being made obsolete
Thin Men are actually Vipers with a lot of makeup. Regardless, it'd be cool to recruit some ayy lmaos you de-chipped.
As soon as I get to see the XCOM 2 footage from PAX, I'm not going to be following any further XCOM 2 coverage. I've seen pretty near enough to sell me on it and I want no further spoilers.

I see no reason why gameplay demonstration would be considered spoilers.
God, it's not like it will turn into TPP, where everything is a ruse. Especially since it's a sequel and we know their recycling some enemies. I honestly feel kinda weird knowing about the muton and berserker. Walking into any game with intimate knowledge of it makes it less fun because there isn't the initial wonder and exploration. Before I bought EU when I was just about it, I learned things here and there that made my first actual playthrough less full of surprises. On the flipside, playing Fallout New Vegas on release was a blast because nobody knows what's up and down yet.
Dunno, I don't really consider those spoiler, though to be honest, spoilers never bothered me, and I love the TPP info that's leaking, so I guess it's just me. Beside, not like we entirely know everything about the enemies, and most importantly - the numbers, which would be the true spoilers.

Why do I even bother with the DLC missions? The last time I quit XCOM was because I kept getting dicked over by the final Slingshot mission. I swear once you move past the second power node the game just spawns a cyberdisk behind you because fuck you That's X-COM Baby!™ I'm not going to lose people because the creators of Long War decided it'd be a great idea to spawn an activated cyberdisk behind your force so it can come out of the fog and murder people for fun. That's a dick move.
This mother fucker, this mother fucker right here is fucking bullshit. I had people looking at the exact spot he was on, one second he wasn't there then *poof* instant Cyberdisk, just add bullshit. Who ever is responsible for this fucker spawning in, activated, with no indication can go fuck themselves with a rake.
