I'm gonna do it because I have faith in the devs. I want a mix of gritty and professional, in the sense of "Well we're all out of shoulderpads that size, you'll just have to improvise"
I'll do it because preorders have never bothered me, steam refunds are a thing, and by and large there are very few games I've outright regretted purchasing, even at full price. I got Aliens: Colonial Marines and can't say I regreted it, I got like 30 to 40 hours out of its broken ass just enjoying the hilariously broken nature of it inspite of how awful it was and enjoying what game was actually there.
No, I'm not paying 80 canadian dollars for an XCOM game even if it does look great. I'm waiting for sales for sure.
It's nearly double the price that EU was on release, but I got nearly 250 hours out of that game, so I guess Firaxis probably deserves my money.
I have preordered BF3 and BF4 - got 200+ hours from each, preordered Borderlands 2 - 200+ hours from it, and I'd preorder XCOM2 if I actually had the funds. I dont reslly care about the binus for preorder, I just want to 'secure' my copy while I have the means to do it, because whi knows if I will have any money when it releases.
if any of you non-american posters are struggling with the price you should check the xcom reddit, bunch of people sharing ways to get it cheap [editline]11th September 2015[/editline] (er)
Great news! The price of XCOM 2 has been changed on Steam to $60 USD.
Great news! The price of XCOM 2 has been changed on Steam to $60 USD.
I never thought I'd be so excited to pay $88 instead of $132. Dunno when or if this currency crisis is going to improve before February, so might as well pre-order now and if AUD makes a miracle comeback I can just refund it and buy again.
Even though I think Xcom2 will meet every single one of my expectations. The answer for me is no. Fuck pre-ordering culture.
I only preordered when there were reviews of the game already out. But now with this steam refund system I'm just going to spend some time looking up gameplay of the game before playing it. That way I can refund without having to put in 2 hours if I want. But XCOM 2 will still most likely give out review copies, so you can just preorder the game when that happens as its usually a safe bet.
One of the guys in the pic has a silencer...wonder if we can put it on sniper rifles and pick off guards on the perimeter
One of the guys in the pic has a silencer...wonder if we can put it on sniper rifles and pick off guards on the perimeter
I noticed that too, but I'm not sure how deep into stealth this would go. They did say that they won't shift the focus of combat to an entire stealth mechanic, since it wouldn't be XCOM in that case.
I want to see a full stealth mechanic mod implemented so you can slip through missions like a ghost.
You probably can do it with vanilla, but RNJesus would have to be on your side.
anyone preordering?
I probably will, but not yet. [editline]12th September 2015[/editline] also page rat
You probably can do it with vanilla, but RNJesus would have to be on your side.
They said it would be extremely difficult but theoretically possible. But I meant like, fleshed out mechanics where it's not straight hidden/exposed for the rest of the fight. Ways to kill enemies without alerting the rest, ways to break the alert or return to a hidden state, stuff like that. metal gear-com.
It should be possible in XCOM 2 if enemies don't call for back up when they see you on your turn. All you'd have to do is silently kill everything you triggered within your turn and hope to god you have someone with action points left over in case you trigger another enemy in the process. [editline]12th September 2015[/editline] I assume it'd be extremely difficult because if you send out your melee guy to cut down two people but reveal someone behind a corner that you didn't see, they'd be able to alert everyone on the alien turn. So with some action point budgeting and luck you might be able to move someone up to kill them before it's their turn, but again you might reveal another enemy by doing that.
Started a new game and got to the terror mission, somehow people having heart attacks in the fog turned into zombies and somehow doubled their number. And they started activated. And they hid till they popped into lid form. Finished with 30+ kills and zero casulites 10 hours after was Portent with two active thinmint pods on first movement. Still zero casulties Light abduction on fountain. 3 casulties, 2 gravely woundeds while fighting aginst 9 thinmints FUCK FOUNTAIN.

You're going to drop my squad of highly elite and highly vulnerable infantrymen into the world's most obvious ambush spot with only waist high cover? "
That's why I just hide in the bus. Until the aliens figure out how to blow it up
imagine if a mod introduced full stealth elements, with the ability to time all of your squads attack to function at the same time (think like in xcom w/ overwatches all happening on 1 enemy) to make sure they have no time to retreat or even panic
I thought that was already shown in XCOM 2?
I'm off to a great start. Lost all my experienced soldiers and rookies to Mutons, I guess this is how 2 started.

So here's the story of how much I hate LW lategame terror missions. Map is street hurricane. Brought my A- team, mostly my best with some fillers but still a very solid group, have mostly gauss with a bit of plasma. First activations, 1 EXALT pod, 1 large shryssalid pod (no queens thankfully) 1 bigish seeker pod. The 'lids were taken care of by a wonderful ITZ chain from my jaeger and the seekers were an easy mop up. almost immediately after, I activate a sectoid/sectoid commander/outsider pod and a heavy floater pod while most of the EXALT pod is still alive. To cut a long firefight short, I took zero health hits but every single civvie on the map died save for two who were in the right place at the right time. It's really frustrating how heavily the AI prioritizes civvies over XCOM soldiers.
God damn that minigun, I fucking love it: [t]http://4o3.nl/887f0.png[/t]
Why is he holding it like a rifle, when there are perfectly functional rear and middle handles for hip-firing?
God damn that minigun, I fucking love it: [t]http://4o3.nl/887f0.png[/t]
I better be able to make a character exactly like this.
Why is he holding it like a rifle, when there are perfectly functional rear and middle handles for hip-firing?
that's got to be a WIP animation for it, can't imagine they'd model specific ergonomics and then not use them [editline]14th September 2015[/editline] at least i hope so, looks weird like that
