I think the majority of my first hours of playtime are going to go into doing stuff with the character pool. [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] Also we should set up a Facepunch force where we all customize ourselves in whatever way (like scientists, soldiers, etc) and have a uniform Red and White armor scheme. It'd be like our own Alien killing Legion.
So create ourselves and share them amongst us so we can have not only named characters for our Xeno cleansing, but also people representing us? That sounds awesome...
I'd drop myself into an FP pool, was already gonna do myself. Just change the color scheme. Hopefully character editor is separately available from the main game.
It'd be nice if they had an Upgrade to Deluxe Edition thing on the steam store.
It'd be nice if they had an Upgrade to Deluxe Edition thing on the steam store.
Games typically get an upgrade option after the game comes out. [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] Also the reinforcement pack, which is just a season pass, is already available as a separate option. The only thing you'd be missing out on if you bought them separately would be the OST.

at 1:34 and 1:42 of the new trailer we see some (probably XCOM) operatives in civilian clothes. Could this mean that covert operations like in EW are still a thing? It would work thematically, afterall. It's also possible that they are unique soldiers like the guy from slingshot and the gal from EW.
I want a physical copy, but if I buy a box copy and the DLC separate I'll lose the OST.

The silencer is called a "repeater" and has a 5% chance to instantly kill any target in one hit? wtf is this
If we do that, our sleeves and stuff should be white. The main part of the shirt should be red for obvious reasons.
I think any variation of Red and White is fine. No need to limit people too much. I think I'll commit to to this. I'll make some sort of page depending on how it gets shared. So like a Google doc with links to your character and adding it to a pack or something.
Do we wanna agree on a name format so its consistent? Like just usernames or real names/pseudo names with usernames as nicknames? Because I know some people prefer soldiers having proper names but others just prefer alias'.
I'm just gonna use my username. Maybe first: Potato last: Armada.
Your first name can be whatever the hell you want it to be. Last name should be your username.
Shouldn't your nickname be your username?
im going to name each solider in my facepunch legion after each one of them after each of you
Shouldn't your nickname be your username?
Lower ranks don't get nicknames IIRC.
It should be whatever is displayed while in-game, which I guess is just the last name.
So, thanks to the excitement of all the XCOM 2 information and news. I've started a "Canon" XCOM 2 prelude run, inspired by a run from another youtuber who did something similar. Ironman Impossible, as many second wave options to make it more difficult from Itchy Trigger Tentacle and Red Fog, must survive for three months, must take the Gangplank battleship, and all of this on only using ballistics and whatever starting gear and equipment Long War gives you. Whoever survives will be my starting roster for XCOM 2. Three missions in and this is going fucking awful and I love it.
Lower ranks don't get nicknames IIRC.
Doesn't change the fact that when the moment is right, you can change em' yourself.

For the FP character pool, I'd like to help by hosting the templates on my dropbox. They shouldn't take much space anyways. That is of course assuming we'll share and install manually.
inspired by a run from another youtuber.
So. Could you hook a brother up?

It's even a roleplay playthrough where he streamed it and let his viewers decide what they would do. It was super interesting and the body count was... something. I recommend it. Later episodes you get to see the stream chat as well.
I saw a lot of talk about a Facepunch groupie of ourselves as soldiers in XCOM 2 and that is already an idea I've had since the character pool was announced a few months ago. I already am thinking of some way to make this work, hopefully as a form of mod. Right now I'm trying to figure out how we can get a proper list going on where people can maybe submit their characters. My guess is that if we can generate a sort of unique character ID for each soldier (Kinda like how in Mass Effect you get a unique ID at the bottom when you customize your Shephard) I could possibly setup a google spreadsheet to setup the character for each soldier, and from there bundle it up into a mod. Only 2 problems however: 1. We don't know if there is a sort of unique ID integration we can do here. If there ain't I might have to figure out a way using the modding tools. 2. I don't how to set this up as a form of private name list. Take note my current Rookie BBQ List is literally me entering everyone's name 1 by 1, so having a custom appearance tied to each one will be tricky to do without some jackass trying to spam idiocy in the list.

Is it explained how XCOM lost aside from it happened early game? I want to believe XCOM lost because the aliens hit them with sectopods, muton elites, and advanced floaters right off the bat and that they went down fighting against all odds instead of going out like bitches

Retaliation trailer has a scene that looks suspiciously like a Thin Man grabbing the Commander in the wake of said assault.

It's a scenario i'd love to execute myself, but it's so far beyond me to pull off properly. ( i hate losing!)
Just got Enemy Unknown for $5
