Cancelled my steam order of the regular version, physically pre-ordered the deluxe because it's cheaper that way.

Yea, just sent in my refund request for the basic version. Not like I was going to use that extra money in a productive fashion.
Devs confirmed that Tim Wynn is composing the soundtrack for XCOM 2, his previous works include Red Faction Guerrilla and Red Alert 3.

Nice, I love his Red Alert 3 OST

Just a little update on the "Facepunch Legion" idea from earlier, I found a way that we can properly get our character pool going I think, so here is what I got so far:
1. The character submission will happen through a google form like such:
[t]http://4o3.nl/20151212b7460c.png[/t]
So why a google form? Well, a few things:
This is a fast and easy to do process, here you will enter all of your credentials for the soldier, stuff like name, face, hair, props, tattoos, etc, you get the idea. As for customization options you can leave it at 0 for a random pick, 1-(max) for a specific choice from default unmodded base game and a custom string (text) name for any custom modded hair that the player might have installed (If not it will just choose a random one)
You have the option of editing your submission on the spot if you'd like. It requires a Google account sure, but I think the pros out-weigh here given that the moment something is added, it becomes auto updated and the new information can straight go into the game. This however still means that I gotta cross fingers that nobody decides to be a dick and start spamming with random accounts. (The very VERY best case scenario is if someone can make a site where it uses the Facepunch API for login details that way it's restricted to Facepunch users at least, but since I got no clue on how to code websites, this will have to do)
2. From whatever was submitted, it goes directly into a spreadsheet, like so:
[t]http://4o3.nl/201512a52a9bd2.png[/t]
From here I can see all of the responses under the assigned categories and can even admin over any spam submissions and what not, best of all is that the google spreadsheets let me easily access all of this info in a simple comma and newline separated text file, which let's me easily set it inside the game. Decided to test it in my work environment with a simple http request and the result:
[t]http://4o3.nl/2015127e681e0b.png[/t]
Even if the game itself doesn't have a networking module of some sort, I could always write up a program on Python or something to have as an autoupdater.
So yeah, I'm happy to say I have some progress on what we can do with our little groupie.
I like it Nick, nice work.

Come on now, if you want to validate the composer's credentials, bring out the best.

Where did you preorder a physical deluxe addition?

That's a shame, I absolutely loved Michael Mcann's work on XCOM, but at least they chose a good replacement.

I assume he's busy working on Mankind Divided.

He didn't compose this piece. He composed the cutscene music while some other guys did the general gameplay music with further additions from longtime series composer Dan Wentz.
I'm 99% sure he did compose it, says so on Spotify (full RFG soundtrack is there).
I normally don't like turn based games but Enemy Unknown has been a blast!
1. "Main Theme (Defiance)" (Wynn)
2. "Prelude" (Wynn)
3. "Uprising" (Wynn)
4. "End of the Beginning" (Wynn)
5. "Hearts and Minds" (Wynn)
6. "Children of Stars" (Wynn)
7. "The Way to Redemption" (Wynn)
8. "Genesis" (Wynn)
Those are the only pieces he's credited with, all of which are used in cutscenes or menus and nowhere else.
I stand corrected then.

Also I wonder if the press build had premade maps because the church map Beagle played on was the exact one played last night during the Firaxis stream.

I'd assume that they'd have some premade maps for certain missions, there might have been certain things they wanted to show off with this map in particular.

I heard they started with the same save. Maybe that has something to do with it.

EB Games. With the current exchange rate I've been buying things at actual stores more and more, especially PS3 games.
just pre-ordered Digital Deluxe from GMG with the 20% off code
I sure hope my brother buys this. I'm Steam Sharing him so if he does I get access to it aswell.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing, EB Games isn't offering the digital deluxe in physical form.
I probably won't preorder until mid January though. I really want the box but I could save some going purely digital.

Does anyone feel like hitting up a few matches on EW? Matchmaking is just putting me in an empty lobby and nobody joins.

I would but my laptop's hard drive failed sooo... :(
I'm still getting this "missed-shot-crashes-game" thing with Long War, really don't know what to do. People said disable vsync, mute game audio etc, but basically it happens most often when using suppression or missing an overwatch shot. Supposedly it's related to the bullets hitting the skybox.
so that new Independence Day trailer...can we just pretend it's an XCOM movie?
Except that they have more than 20 interceptors and base defense gets plasma rifles

I say "Australia" to both those points. IrishBandit answered the first line. For the second, 45gb is a freaking huge download even when compressed so there's no way I'm going full digital.
Also metal box

neat
I wish I could preorder the deluxe edition retail but I guess Americans are just fucked, so I'll have to suffer the 45 gig download.
