I want it, but its cheaper to buy a physical base game and the dlc after than to buy the physical deluxe. Won't say the steel book isn't cool but I can't justify a spectacular mark up like that. Really the only thing I could get from the deluxe edition I can't get period is the ost.
After thinking it over I have cancelled my steam preorder and when I get my money back, I'll preorder it retail because 45 gigs is too much. I swear to fucking god if they make it a retail disc that's just a goddamn installer, I live near firaxis' office I can actually go complain to them directly.

Data caps are a bitch, although a DVD can only hold ~5GB, so you're going to be downloading a lot regardless.

double sided duel layer dvds can hold 18 gigs so it's not impossible for them to release it on 2 of those, this is my last hope please don't dash it

Kinda late here but I hope they stuck with unlocking more cosmetic stuff through ranking soldiers up and stuff too like they mentioned way back. Don't get me wrong, there's a nice selection there, but headgear specifically seems slightly lacking. For example there's only one kind of combat helmet (albeit with three variations) and no beret to be seen.

I believe the strategy layer trailer already revealed that the UFOs still look like their EU/EW counterparts, but it's nice to see that we can still raid landed / crashed UFOs

Yep, noticed that back when the trailer came out. For some reason there would appear to be a mission where XCOM visits an Invasion era crashed UFO. (Which isn't the same as the ones we see ADVENT using now when it is sacking that town with MECs)
