How the heck do you buy the Steelbook version? I can't find it anywhere. :v:
Import from Australia :^)
I know there'd be people on board if I set up some sorta deal but I wouldn't feel comfortable being the guy responsible for shipping many Steelbooks and handling several hundred dollars of FP'er money.
I'm at the UFO-Defense late game, and Sectopods are really scary man.
If you can mind contol them, they'll take reaction shots at itself if you try to move.
I solved the problem by giving like 1 or 2 of my highest accuracy soldiers a Heavy Laser (basically a fucking lascannon against them) to fuck them up. Also the air game has gotten so easy I just shoot down small UFOs and then don't bother attacking the crash sites.
Also taking bases is way easier than I thought.
Heavy Lasers or Small Launchers (4 tiles, 4x effect) usually works well enough. But they are scary indeed.
I started my first Ironman run (on Normal)
And I built a SHIV for the first time ever.
Why did I even bother with flesh-and-blood soldiers before. SHIVs are love.
Im playing the game for the second time and I never ever researched the SHIV and Im not going to in this playthrough

You're rating me funny, but it's true. In the original you only mind controlled one tile per attempt, so controlling one tile and making it fire at the others was potentially the fastest way to take out sectopods.

Sid Meier is in the game.

edit
also some other stuff

Well he was in EU too. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the legendary soldiers form EU are in XCOM 2.
If anybody is still interested in buying the game (or the digital deluxe).. https://fr.gamesplanet.com/game/xcom-2-digital-deluxe-edition-steam-key--2896-2

it's 21 quid on cdkeys.com, that's where I've got my copy from
it's 21 quid on cdkeys.com, that's where I've got my copy from
Is it reliable? When do they deliver the CD key?
Sites like that usually deliver keys on release day. It's very rare to get them before release.
I have ordered from them a lot, they've never failed me and have always delivered in advance of release, even if it's only 24 hours.
I hope the new sectopod doesn't get a high ground accuracy bonus. I'll crawl into a hole if that happens.
On the other hand, it'll be cool to be fighting it face to face on a rooftop

I don't think it needs accuracy, what with having a cannon that obliterates everything in a line.

I've heard from reddit (from people sourcing some french guy playing the 3 Month Preview) that when it goes up on its legs it does get high ground bonuses (and increased range).
It can also crouch again to get inside buildings etc.
Man the aliens are a bunch of hack frauds

The fucking face is right there
Does anyone have CGNick's mod for Long War? I tried playing vanilla as a run up to XCOM 2 but the lack of options against the Thin Men drove me away, and every time I play Long War I get driven away by the bullshit.
You could ask CGNick himself:

Oh crap, I should mention, this is for Beta 15F3. I haven't updated it to the latest.
I really like Long War's added features, and was enjoying it up until my first EXALT mission where I was fighting like 20 dudes at once and half of them had rockets.
Is this the kind of bullshit people hate about it?

The only thing worse than an alien is an alien who lies.

20 Exalt active at once isn't a Long War thing, that seemed to happen on most Data Recovery missions in Vanilla as well (particularly that fountain map) to balance out the comm-tower disables.
The most annoying aspect of Long War is likely the difficult air game.
no it's all equally annoying

in LW exalt rocketeers are especially offensive because whereas they can squasight a rocket right into your left eyesocket, it takes until colonel for your rocketeers to be able to hit the inside of a barn
There's one fucking thing I hate so much about Ufo-Defense and it isn't the high bodycount (I think that's apart of it's charm). I fucking hate when a couple of sectoids can completely disrupt/murder my platoon of soldiers. FUCKING SECTOIDS! THE FIRST FUCKING ENEMY! There's so many of the cheap little bastards that they mind control the key people and then make the rest of my squad panic. Keep in mind I have the highest tier weapons and mostly all flying suits.
It's fucking bullshit. I'm glad they didn't bring this shit into the newer games.

It's not actually the first enemy doing that though, only the Sectoids of Leader/Commander rank use Psi, they only appear late in the game. But yeah, psi is bullshit when they can use it without line of sight and you can't.
EDIT: Undermining all your technological advancements and reset the playing field is sort of the point o Psi, too. Vahlen makes a point of this in EU.

Mass hire soldiers to see who has good willpower and fire everyone who doesn't.

Which is why I play OpenXcom with the Psi-LOS mod enabled.
I have OpenXCOM too, but I wanted a mostly vanilla experience. I just find it bullshit how I can't do anything against sectoids and 3 cyberdisks on Base Assault missions because they chain panic and mind control my guys every turn.
Tempted to just build a bunch of tanks and send them in.

Generally the strategy is to avoid base assaults entirely until you have a squad of sufficiently strong psi-warriors (unless you're using harmless psi-puppets as fodder). Leaving a few bases alone won't impact your score significantly as long as you're doing alright in other missions.
EDIT:
Tanks are very good though, using multiple of them is an excellent idea.
