Also I want to take out this base. It's literally right next to mine and it's a bit awkward.
rocket tank spam is godly
If you think Psi spam in UFO Defense is bad, wait until you play TFTD. Aquatoids (TFTD equivalent of Sectoids) Technicians, Navigators, and Commanders are able to use Psi. Tasoth Squad Leaders also spam this to no end.

Well, the computers you need to destroy to win the base assault is located in a room somewhere on the same level as the access elevators (green starting zones); Supposedly it is possible to blast through the rock to gain access to that room. Though, if you had access to blaster launchers then perhaps base assaults would not be that much of an issue.

If you have the right equipment for your jets and soldiers, you can use the base to farm alien artifacts by shooting down every supply ship that stops by. Tedious, but nets you a lot of money.

Just intercept it with your troop carrier and assault it as soon as it lands. Hello, hundeds of intact Elerium!
If you can manage to pull this off reliably it's probably better to keep the base alive to farm the supply ships, as long as the increased UFO activity doesn't cause panic.

Hour worth of gameplay from Giant bomb
What I hope any expansion to the game has is recruitable/kidnappable/perma-mind-controlled alien allies, I really think the whole "resistance" aspect would work with that.
Plus, it seems like a lot of other people want it too, one of the first things Giant Bomb asked in that video is if there were any turncoat aliens. If we're not getting back MECs, let us have mutons, dammit

Would be interesting to have a begrudging partnership with rogue or loose aliens, but I imagine they'd also not be as customizable so in the long term they'd basically be a specific role of abilities and not much else.

yeah, I imagined each type of alien would be its own sort of class, like MEC troopers were in EW

Not gonna lie, the tactics are very cringy. And what's with going on Overwatch when enemies have a clear sight of you?

Just started the video but Beagle does it often to try to catch them when they're moving to flank/better cover since the chance to hit is a lot better with overwatch than through heavy cover.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't make, silly.
But the problem is, the enemies have higher ground and direct sight at them, so entering overwatch was pointless, since the enemies have no reason to move.
ever since the nda on xcom 2 lifted i've been awakened to how terrible people are at it

Heya, I'm stuck at work and won't be able to open this for a a couple of hours. Would somebody be kind enough to tell me which members of the giant bomb crew are hosting this quick look?

It's Rorie and Brad with two people from Firaxis.

Especially with how damage clears overwatch now
just bought xcom 2 deluxe edition for $56 mang :D
I'm really trying to beat an Impossible Ironman run, but it's getting too frustrating. What's the chance of a rocket failing the original route two times in a row?

On a scale of 1-to-10, it's an X-COM.

Pretty much.
There times where you think you have a easy fight, you're dudes miss and you just get fucked. Other times you think you're fucked and that one rookie just pulls out all the stops, dances around incoming fire and pops a Thin Man in the face to crit kill him.

Shen's Last Gift is probably going to be MECs, going by the description (Calls it a new class of soldier, which a SHIV wouldn't really be) - That or SHIVs.
Plus the ADVENT MEC wreck description makes it canon that Shen was working on MECs (purely robotic ones) before XCOM fell in the first war.

shen's last gift is just an army of shen clones
shen's bong
I'm on my SHIV-mostly run and everything's fine and dandy but I really need to promote a fleshie without them dying so I can get the second squad size upgrade.
I'm so fucked when the base defence mission comes though.
So I'm coming back from an EXALT mission, having cleared up all the enemy troops and putting my covert operative in the extraction zone.
When I come back I'm greeted with "covert operative KIA" on the mission results screen. Checked the memorial and the cause of death is "Major Trauma (Unknown)".
So my headcanon is that they tripped while dismounting the Skyranger at the base and smashed their head. It's the only way I can deal with this bullshit.

Another Xcom video. This time from PC Gamer.
Also modding stuff
What we are getting, is a full Toolkit.
Visual Studio Isolated Shell (Glue app as it was put) This will help you build mods and mod projects.
The unreal editor that was used in the development of XCOM 2, aka the same editor that was used to build the game.
Script Source Code
50GB of Assets from animations, to textures, to models, to ground clutter, et all
As jake said, "You have the same game we had. You have the tools we had, the editor we used, the assets we used."

What kind of mods could you even make for xcom?
New maps? new weapons? new cosmetic items for the troops?
Well for one we could make that Warhammer mod everyone keeps mentioning. Star Wars mod, etc.
