Ya what mate? The classes they had in returns/dragonfall could easily be re-interpreted to fit Xcom.
Returns didn't have classes, it had archetypes, you could level up any skill you wanted, the class thing in character creation was just presets, in XCOM you'd be locked into a skill tree. Probably, dunno what's possible with the mod tools yet.
I want a mod that'll add units and weapons from Today. No more Spartan armor or Nerf weapons, at least not in the early game

True but it wasn't wise nor really possible to become jack of all trades.

Nah, taking cyberware as an adept was great, putting a few points into shamanic magic so you can summon spirits in the environment worked on any build. Wasn't as flexible as the tabletop but it had a charm XCOMs system can't really duplicate.
can't wait for the inevitable suicide vest and isis flag mods
Finally. A good use for rookies!
Unless the bomb has a chance to not detonate.
i hope someone takes the time to add in modern weapons and attachments
Do you guys think these voices would work for Advent Troopers?

I hate to say this, but those voice packs are better for XCOM in many cases
I was already planning to do a Brotherhood of NOD run - Red/Black Armour and weapons, Squad Leader being a Psionic (Its just fitting) called Joseph 'Messiah' Kane (As far as I can tell Kane doesn't have a canon first name, so I just went with the guy who acts him)
So im looking to install and play EW once more before xcom 2 can anyone suggest a mod that would make the game more “interesting” without being BS like long war?

You can edit Long War to your liking, I don't have a link but someone in the thread made some .ini tweaks that are evidently pretty good.
All I've wanted, and what I've been asking for since mod tools have been announced, is a Valkyria Chronicles mod.
[img_thumb]http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/valkyria/images/6/63/Squad_7.png/revision/latest?cb=20131123055858[/img_thumb]
It would work so well; there's overlap with the class system and rank, and a bunch of other features.
Psyonics could even be Valkyria.
But models were never ported or made, so it'll never happen unfortunately.
I've wanted this since they announced modding
I'd be fine with it not having the models though. Just changing the gameplay so it imitates Valkyria's battle system would be great
yeah does any one have a link to the facepunch long war mod?
but i still download the original long war mod from nexus?

CGNicks alterations I assume is the one you refer too.

Nobody messes with Little.Sparrow tho, respect to him.
Doesn't look like it's been posted here yet, Firaxis is showing off the 5th class [sp]Psi-operative[/sp] today at 11 PST on Twitch.
http://www.twitch.tv/firaxisgames
There should be a mod where you can recruit a bunch of pissed off Thin Men that are all angry about being made redundant.
My god that Codex thing looks brutal.
I think Psi-Ops being able to get all the abilities is very OP, I know they said it's really costly to do but still.
I think Psi-Ops being able to get all the abilities is very OP, I know they said it's really costly to do but still.
Yeah, they've implied that it will be very costly, and each spell in the tank takes 5 days with an Engineer supervising (it would appear), which mounts up pretty quickly across a campaign, especially when you throw in medbay time as well (For the inevitable wounds)
I really liked having limited abilities, you really need to choose what role you want your psi soldier, whether an offensive role with mind control and panic, or supportive with inspiration and the other thing. I guarantee a mod will come around to go back to limited skills. I'm excited to see what small mods will come around like that post release. Gonna force me to replay many times (which is the point).

Plus with the whole doomsday-clock of the Avatar project, it will definitely be very costly.
How to cheese the Uber Ethereal in 3 easy steps:
1. Place 4 proxy mines on his little edge before activating him.
2. Run into him.
3. "This is not your path! Not your purpose!"
So yeah, thanks Lizzrd for taking 1 for the Earth and being sent into some parallel dimension or what have you. o7

I thought the generally excepted way was a colonel squadsight/doubletap/headshot/plasma sniper straight to the face.

That works too, but I've been cheesing the aliens for 2 years just pounding them so I figured I'd cheese to the end.
I'm quite angry and sad. It feels like I'm doing good at my run, but then something unexpected happens and everything crumbles and I must restart to try everything once again. And fuck the trainyard map

I'm just imagining how fucking cool it would be to be fighting these guys in XCOM 2 with the background music replaced.

Cheesing is the only way to play these games. A good commander will take advantage of the enemies' weaknesses. They're not playing fair and neither should you

I don't know if this has been addressed by anyone anywhere, but what the hell is my2K and what does it mean for XCOM 2?
