a 90* angle in front of them
Why is it always 90°? wave your fingers besides your head, assuming you've got full capability in both eyes, you should be able to see close to 180°, maybe slightly more

I just slapped down a number for the post
I've got a 120* mod for Xenonauts because 90 is actually crap for gameplay

I really don't see cone vision working out in XCOM 2, mainly cause it's not using Time Units like the old games. It would just feel limiting to the 2 Action system.

Sounds like something the LW team would do then.
I'm still very curious as to how many weapon stages there are going to be. So far there are 4 confirmed but I've read somewhere that there are gonna be 6?

What are the confirmed four? I've only seen conventional, gauss and what looks like plasma. What's the other? Laser presumably?
Magnetic? ADVENT use Magnetic weaponry so it makes sense.
iirc, gauss and magnetic are the same tech stage, the Mag rifle being the assault rifle and the gauss rifle being the sniper rifle
Magnetic? ADVENT use Magnetic weaponry so it makes sense.
Magnetic is gauss.
Oh ok. Probably laser then.
Oh ok. Probably laser then.
I've heard, but seen no in game shots to corroborate, that there is laser to bridge the gap between Mag and Plasma, but again, I've seen nothing to actually confirm that - I have only seen pictures (official or otherwise) showing Conventional, Mag and Plasma.
Six... I can't even imagine what the other two tiers could be. Wonder if that was someone just confusing the heavy weapon researches as new tiers.
Long War 2 changelog for beta 0.23 J
-Archons now have Psi rift
-Number of chrysalids spawned is now proportional to number of turns since start of missions
-Snake tongues now deal AoE poison
Don't forget the follow up patch:
- Tripled enemy HP
- Made rockets cost you individual salvage
- Small UFOs will now shoot down your base

- Panicked Soldiers will now commit suicide
- Each bullet fired out of a weapon will cost weapon fragments
The confirmed ones are: Ballistic, Magnetic, Beam and Plasma. Beam was confirmed from one of the preview streams apparently, where they showed off the game over screen without the cutscene, and one of the things on there was "Days until Beam was researched". I could be falsely led on this mind you because I haven't looked at this end screen.

I'm not convinced that might not be a form of Plasma Weapons, like the Snipers/Heavy Weapons or something, it seems weird that there would be this one tier of weapons we have seen absolutely nothing of in either official or unofficial media.
Especially given that Plasma fires like a fast beam now.
(Basically all I'm saying is don't get hype for more weapon tiers without explicit confirmation, it looks to me like it follows the same format as XCOM where you've got 3 tiers - though I would love for their to be more)

I'm kinda wondering why they changed that. Now it looks like just a more powerful beam, that's green. I kinda liked it being a sort of projectile variant.

The first mission is just 38 vipers waiting at the LZ for you, each with 40 hp.
Kinda bummed out that we can easily guess what the Avatar Project is.
My only hope is that the game expands on what the Ethereals meant when their leader said they were [sp]cast out and preparing for a greater threat[/sp]
Nick is a filthy casual.

I wonder if Firebrand is in any way related to Big Sky? Like, younger sister or even daughter. God bless that fine-ass pilot.
I'm more curious as to what happened to Big Sky as a whole. Nobody seems to be mentioning him. Anything in the book by any chance about Big Sky? Or even Firebrand?
Plot twist: Big Sky is the old XCOM veteran promised for XCOM 2 (DLC).
Actually, that might be book related, which is kind of a shame cause from what I understood the book is "okay" but not really worth a re-read. More or less just to fill in some quick gaps between XCOM EU and XCOM 2.

Big Sky does not get a mention, sorry. I presume him dead from the base attack. But I'll probably make a Big Sky character to use.
He better be alive or I'm boycotting XCOM 2.
[sp]Not.[/sp]

What about Firebrand in that case? Is she mentioned somewhere in the book?
So is PSI its own class now?
yes
Yeah, questionably enough they moved the whole psi tree into it's own class. Not sure if this is the best gameplay choice though, time will tell.
