When I think of back scabbards, I think of this. [t]http://astor-versand.eshop.t-online.de/WebRoot/Store6/Shops/Shop10643/476A/1B23/5E6C/7CC9/C87D/AC14/500B/7371/85339-m.jpg[/t] Only problem I can think of with a scabbard like that is poor protection for the sword against the elements. Wonder if anything of the sort was truly used.
That thing right there kinda nulifys the point of a scabbard, which is as you said, to protect the blade from the weather. It's easier/better for the sword to keep it in a normal scabbard and sling it over your shoulder.
I love how my new sniper misses every single shot with his brand new plasma sniper but when an Ethereal decides to control him, he hits every shoot against my soldiers. Then the Ethereal not only did reflect my laser, but also made my game crash.
First time fighting EXALT while playing long war, Ive only got 3 laser rifles and my agent spawned in a corner with two squads sitting right next to her. Got my entire squad killed by a single rocket first try, dis gon be good

XCOM BABY!
Too much salt on your eggs is bad for your health. Long War loves to stuff hordes of EXALT on small maps, such that I never go on one of those missions without at least two rocketeers.
Speaking of Long War. My Rocketeer just pulled the most amazing move. I was doing the mission were you have to rescue a scientist. My group of soldiers, whom I've changed the first name to Inquisitor, had done well so far by moving up on one flank. Sadly, I end up with 5 sectiods trying to flank me, 1 is too far away, the other 3 are in good cover. Leaving one outside in minimum cover. Everyone I didn't put on overwatch manages to miss completely, leaving only my Rocketeer as the last soldier that can do anything. Now, I had little confidence in this guys skills, since the last time he tried to fire a rocket he nearly blew himself up. :v: Alas, he deserves a second chance, only for me to realise he cannot hit the group of 3 because they are too far away. leaving only an injured sectoid as the only potential target. As he is about to fire I can tell he wont hit since he is turning 45 degrees the wrong way. Sure enough, he misses the lonely sectoid. And kills the 3 sectoids hiding in a building whom I couldn't target with the rocket launcher. My rocketeer managed to fuck up and actually do better that way :v: Thanks to some wicked warp magic my Inquisitor Rocketeer managed to save the day. He is currently detained and tested for foul xenos or warp taint.
That's why I'm kinda apprehensive about starting Long War, but that EW campaign is my first, so I want to finish that one before I start Long War, but I love this game. Up to that point I think I was doing pretty well though, playing on hard with no deaths, but my A-teams got wounded, so I'm doing the Agent Rescue mission with the overabundance of supports I seem to be getting.
with the back-scabard, Is it not a factor that the machetes are much shorter than the swords often put on the back for coolness? I think it could work with the right kind of blade. Still. Though I don't think the standard by-the-hip place for a sheath gets the credit it deserves, The coolest place to put a sword is horizontal across the lower back. Should do that.
So I can't tell if this is old news, but X-COM2 is an alternative universe story. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/02/xcom-2-welcoming-our-new-alien-overlords?watch
For Firaxis’ second XCOM, Creative Director Jake Solomon and his team are going in an entirely different direction: instead of changing the setting, they’re changing history to make XCOM the underdog again. How? Surprise: You didn’t beat the aliens – they steamrolled you. Solomon painted an alternate version of how the war unfolded: “When the aliens showed up, XCOM suffered massive casualties, and governments around the world crumbled in face of popular support to surrender. Then, the Earth was quickly overrun. And so, 20 years into the future, the world is a very different place. The aliens rule Earth from giant shining megacities where all the people of Earth are flocking; that’s where they’re promised an easy life, a secure life free of disease.“
I really love all the things long war adds, but it leans too far into ball bustingly hard for me, and the dev attitude of "you're just playing wrong lol" pisses me off. I don't know how they want me to play "correctly" when I'm one turn squad wiped by thinmen who never miss.
If on Easy(trying to get some practice before going on Enemy Within and/or harder difficulty) you ignore Alien Abductions whatsoever do you get raised panic on all three countires/continents abductions happened on?

That's how you go into ez mode And never approach Thin Men with rookies. That's how I wiped and lost Doorn on his recruitment mission.
Are you playing on Normal with cinematic mode on? That's how you go into ez mode And never approach Thin Men with rookies. I remember the first time I played XCOM: UFO Defense. I renamed all of my soldiers to people that I am friends with. All of them made it to the final mission as elite soldiers. My strategy was to create the first 7 as scouts, the rest the VIPs. Ended up with a 1:1 Kill Death Ratio, if I remember correctly. I think I still have the save somewhere, I'll check to see.
in my first playthrough of ufo defense I made so much profit off of selling heavy plasma's looted from aliens my funds went off the side of the screen.
I never have any casualties in my XCOM saves. [sp]Because I quit the game whenever someone dies[/sp]
I don't customize new recruits until they get promoted (or at least survive a mission) - no use getting all attached to someone who's gonna bite it. I know you can sell off damaged things (they straight-up say that they're useless to XCOM) but I'm hesitant to get rid of other things (unless I'm broke) because I don't know if they become useful later.
Why XCOM 2 had to be PC exclusive http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/05/why-xcom-2-had-to-be-pc-exclusive
Goddamn the operation slingshot train mission is infuriating. I get the last transponder down on the last turn, then Bradford: "Now you just need to activate the train's drive system." Fuck you
in my first playthrough of ufo defense I made so much profit off of selling heavy plasma's looted from aliens my funds went off the side of the screen.
I just use a Motion Sensor Ponzi Scheme to generate all of my money. Suckers eat it right up.
Why XCOM 2 had to be PC exclusive http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/05/why-xcom-2-had-to-be-pc-exclusive
To summarize this for the people who just want the cliff's notes or for some reason can't or don't want to click it: It's because they're a small team using a very heavily modified UE3 and focusing on a single platform makes it much easier for them to develop the game. Typical PC setup lets them make assumptions (at desk using M+KB) that make for a nicer UI layout. No gamepad support at launch, but they want to add it later. Not ruling out console versions in the future, but they're not even thinking about it for now.
I had to abort because 12 chryssalids, 8 floaters and 10 zombies RIP my first terror mission was a failure, I'm really bad at XCOM
I had to abort because 12 chryssalids, 8 floaters and 10 zombies RIP my first terror mission was a failure, I'm really bad at XCOM
I did my first terror mission on my current playthrough last night, I saved 9/16 civilians because I'm a jerk who prioritized my squad's safety :v: Really not looking forward to the later ones, this mission had only two chryssalids and I was shitting myself in terror (Cpt. Bloodstone was almost eaten).

If it is the same length as a Arming sword, then why not have it on your hip instead so it's easier and faster to get ready. When it comes to swords. Practicallity will always reign supreme imo.
Fucking, still can't get XCOM enemy Within to work right. I just get long as fuck stutters in game, and they just get longer and longer as the game goes on.
Man, I hate the Thorne council mission. Played it earlier today and jeez, that guy don't know when to shut the fuck up... "I'm not syaing anything untill I have proper legal representation!" *Sits behind burnt down cover next to my XCOM dudes desperately trying to fend off the 20+ Thinmen storming their position.* Did this nigga somehow miss that he's being chased by fucking aliens?
Fucking fixed it. It wasn't fully installing all the DirectX components it needed.
Anyone else use the Red Mist second wave option (Soldiers who have taken damage have less movement and lowered aim)? Its saved my butt a bunch of times in Long since the aliens are affected by it as well
