Quoting myself from another thread.
So in the trailer we see a snakeman constricting an Xcom soldier. Thin men in Xcom:EU were the re-imagining of snakemen from the first Xcom game. Seekers from Xcom:EW could constrict people. That's right folks we now have a combination of thin men and seekers. You may panic now.
I just saw the X-COM 2 teaser, I am hype [sp]vibro blades are back baby[/sp]
Hyped as hell, but I'm a little worried that they're pushing for a pre-Christmas release. Maybe they've done most of the work behind closed doors already, but it seems really ambitious and Firaxis don't exactly have the best track record.
The current UI, direct from the site: [IMG_THUMB]http://downloads.2kgames.com/xcom2/media_images/01_x2_screens_media.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Pretty similar so far, but some of these bars and abilities look interesting.
dat machete
XCOM 2 "File" and trailer added to OP.
Im not one who likes to speculate gameplay features from prerelease stuff, but in that picture with the shotgunner about to shoot, the 2 baddies dont look alerted or anything. Its making me think they're implementing at least basic stealth mechanics and thats making me shit my pants
It would be rather bizarre to have a game where you're the guerilla underdogs with no stealth.
I am so fucking hyped right now. I loved Enemy Unknown. I liked Enemy Within. I adore this XCOM 2 trailer. XCOM is probably one of my most beloved franchises despite having only played a few games in it. Everything about it just screams 'yes' to my mind. I'm pretty sure I came when I saw that trailer. Holy shit. I cannot contain my hype.
Love the whole X-Com underground idea, it's a perfect excuse to remove most if not all the alien tech from your team and put them right back at the start. Curious to see whats cannon from EU / EW and what's not. Personally I'd like the invasion to have failed with the volunteer succeeding in destroying the capital ship and surviving, only to be found by the aliens and is / was used as a puppet to broker a peaceful take over of earth leaving only the 'poor' nations outside of their control giving Xcom safe havens to operate from. Also curious to see how exalt factor into this. I'd be disappointing if they was wiped out in EW instead of just going underground.
Seems like we'll get more options regarding melee in the new XCOM. Mechs with giant hammers/machetes please. With the extended mod support. I hope someone makes a Deathwatch mod for this game.
I am infinitely hyped. I don't get excited about trailers too often but god damn

i don't think i understand what is happening in that trailer those aliens didn't seem very evil to me i tbh wasn't sure who was even the good guys while watching
So, coverage info: - Firaxis is doing a livestream tomorrow at 10:30AM PST / 1:30PM EST / 7:30PM CET on their Twitch channel, chatting with Solomon and Garth. - Tomorrow IGN will post a first-look at the actual game. Wednesday they'll go back over the trailer with Solomon and Garth to explain and comment on things... - Live gameplay demo is confirmed for IGN's E3 live show thingy, so presumably it'll be at E3 in some vague form.
Considering it's PC exclusive it may be at the PC conference. What time is Beagles Firaxis O'Clock stream again?
I hope there's an option to go full terrorist instead of ninja shit. I'd rather jump in with a full high explosive loadout and 12 dead aliens and 28 dead civilians LOSSES: ACCEPTABLE
i don't think i understand what is happening in that trailer those aliens didn't seem very evil to me i tbh wasn't sure who was even the good guys while watching
well the trailer is kinda based on the ARG, with people simply disappearing etc it shouldn't be too hard for the alien administration to appear outwardly friendly
i don't think i understand what is happening in that trailer those aliens didn't seem very evil to me i tbh wasn't sure who was even the good guys while watching
You could tell the aliens were bad because they had militarized the police. Other than that, alien controlled earth didn't look too bad.
i don't think i understand what is happening in that trailer those aliens didn't seem very evil to me i tbh wasn't sure who was even the good guys while watching
^ ^ ^ alien collaborator
I wonder if the roles are basically reversed in this game. Xcom are hidden doing "terror" missions and shit trying to subvert the aliums.
did you intentionally misspell hyphen? [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] cause if not it's really bugging me
did you intentionally misspell hyphen? [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] cause if not it's really bugging me
I thought he was making some sort of hype joke. Like Im really hyped therefore I own seven hypens. Steve is not very hyped, he only has two hypens. They are so last generation anyway.
did you intentionally misspell hyphen? [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] cause if not it's really bugging me
Oh fuck i did. Should be fixed soonish.
i don't think i understand what is happening in that trailer those aliens didn't seem very evil to me i tbh wasn't sure who was even the good guys while watching
When I think "good guys", I think "sinister armed checkpoints and motherfucking snake monsters".
Never played XCOM. Looks interesting. I saw the XCOM 2 trailer, it made me more interested. It's one sale pretty cheap on steam. Should I try it out?
Absolutely.
Never played XCOM. Looks interesting. I saw the XCOM 2 trailer, it made me more interested. It's one sale pretty cheap on steam. Should I try it out?
Yes, very reccomended. If you like turn based tactics games, you'll like this.
The more I look at the screenshots the more I think XCOM won the initial invasion and were defeated by the greater threat the Etherials were worried about. The aliens are different, the technology looks different, the Avenger is an alien transport but it looks nothing like the ships used in the first game, and I highly doubt XCOM could survive for 20 years after being such a pain in the aliens' side. A greater threat who decimated Earth and defeated XCOM swiftly would be much more likely to ignore any remnants hiding in the desert.
Steam has an X-Com Demo i would recommend playing that before you buy anything. As much as i'm a massive fan of X-com i can't sit here and say you'll like it, it's one of those games which plenty of people just don't get.
I wonder how they're going to handle recruiting in this? You can't really levy from nations anymore. I hope it's like some of the Metal Gear games where you can kidnap enemies and send them back to your base to convert them.
They'll probably work in the propaganda thing mentioned on the website, where you have to convince people to be on your side. Maybe drawing recruits from the civilian populace in a super shady way.

Elite soldier pack was some pre-order cosmetics, pass Unless you want to give everyone Guile hair(all the soldiers in the very first xcom had Guile hair) Slingshot it pretty meh, you get a free middle range soldier and some earlier access to gear that typically can only be obtained super late-game, the missions are very hard though.
