I don't know what the crux of the alien agenda is but I hope it's something truly horrifying, probably involving genetic engineering
these games are always more enjoyable when the enemy does totally unconscionable and/or disgusting things
I kinda see possible DLC expansions for XCOM. Even this current XCOM game, you could have "XCOM: Redneck Edition"
Basically, your base is this big farm house with underground room, drug laboratories, home-made weapons and farming tools to fight..
And instead of the Skyranger, you have a good ol' pick-up truck used to transport your redneck "troops" Yeehaw!
the carrier could be hijacked from the aliums/enslaved humans
I think they've already confirmed that it is a stolen Alien Supply Ship.
I never make MEC troopers, I feel terrible basically ruining their lives by removing arms and legs with cybernetic ones. At least with gene mods they keep looking normal in some degree, other than those auras around them, but at least they can feel with the arms and legs.
What I do is taking a soldier being gravely wounded and turn those into MEC's.
I imagine they've lost some limbs and are barely alive, so really, I'm saving their asses by turning them into 50% cybernetics and 100% badass.

Makes perfect sense.
We dont want no alien 'round these parts here!
Gimme back mah cow gosh darnit!
And then they sit on the truckbed and fire all their left over ammo up into the skies and drink moonshine.
a.k.a what everybody was expecting The Bureau: XCOM Declassified to be? Not saying it's that bad or anything, I personally liked it but didn't finish, but now people can make their own vision of TPS/FPS XCOM and maybe Firaxis will even learn a thing or two from what people want and take it further in a couple of years?
If the fans can make a better XCOM Declassified than Firaxis did, that would be pretty gnarly.
If the fans can make a better XCOM Declassified than Firaxis did, that would be pretty gnarly.
Firaxis didn't make it, 2K did.
Well then, if the fans can make a better XCOM Declassified than 2K did, that would be pretty gnarly too.
What do you guys think the Fifth class will be?
Cyborgs, Psi, aliens or Officers?
Maybe the fifth class is us. The "Commander" class...

If only you could rename the thing. Because I'd rename it "Dead Ayy Storage" :v:.
where does the meld go anyway when you use it
they are nanomachines they manipulate, where the heck do they themselves go? They just disappear.
I'm going to with that being a game mechanics thing.

i liked the bureau
I personally think it would be cool if there was like a Brothers In Arms style mod where you could issue move orders via first person or something similar.

My squad, and how it's been for the last two in-game months.
We lost our dear Assault Major, Gravde, not too long ago and she was replaced with another who is currently in the medbay. She's doing a valiant job in filling in Gravde's shoes, but she wont be the next Dunkmeister (Gravde killed 3 Mutons alone, Crits errywhere).

First casualty of war. May you rest in SHIV Heaven, FACEPUNCH-1. Brave lad, 15 kills on the First Month Supply Barge. Other one scored 9. I love how good SHIVs can be in Long War.

I thought the idea was it was actually being used to connect the different tissues/artificial components. Like, how you see in the cutscenes they form together to create a structure which connects to the tissue.

So Did I manage to headshot a friendly sniper from halfway across the map with an LMG again?
That brings me back to memories of my first playthrough when I specifically made squads with a particular purpose, uniforms as that's always fun to do, and replaced their first names with the squad name.
The result after lost squad members and people being in the medbay was creating a team consisting of the best of the best who I used for the rest of the game.
Royal Zeta: (A few being FPer names)

I took way too many pictures of them doing random tacticool things but this one is my favorite.

Graaaaar OpenXcom STILL doesn't accept the namelist. I've even removed the brackets from [Green]'s username and all.

Ranger reveal:
Analysis:
-Basic specialization choices boil down to either power with shotguns and rifles or stealth and mobility like climbing.
-Has become the possible scout class, rather than how EU had the support be suited to that role.
-High-tier abilities:
Reaper - can make another melee attack for each kill until it runs out of melee successes
Phantom - Allows move after melee kill
Implication that getting both on one trooper is possible
So Did I manage to headshot a friendly sniper from halfway across the map with an LMG again?
Be glad that doesn't happen in Long War... But still, damn you and your LMG.
i hope chryssalids make a comeback
Since when was the support the scout class? Seems like it'd be more useful to be able to run and gun when scouting, or fall back to your team and still have a support ready to smoke you.
there really was no scout class in XCOM imo
Oh no, not a dedicated class, but I'm saying that the class that would be typically used to scout ahead was, for me at least, was assault.

In practice, I find it's best to hold back the assault until the enemy is spotted, so that run and gun has the full pips to use or close combat can be used. A support can eat up ground fast and cover more range in a single move while still being able to leg it or overwatch.

This brings back my fond memories of a plasma sniper rifle equipped "In the zone" sniper who could wipe out a whole pod of enemies in a single turn :v:
Apparently, you can unlock a secret tower defense minigame in Newfoundland, just by bringing enough assaults with CCS
Triggering three lid pods has never been so fun.
I want custom heroes damnit
i hope chryssalids make a comeback
I like to imagine a mission wherein we set free a Brood of feral Chryssalids in an Alien base full of Advent Soldiers and dirty Alien scum. It becomes a three way battle as we try to shepherd our Biological WMD's into the Alien lines instead of our own, while also trying to mop up the zombies afterwards.
Ranger is for cowards unless you turn yours into John Rambo.

Man I wonder if Firaxis knew that snaketits and ISISCOM would be a thing, considering the stuff they've released so far
