Are the new classes reworked old classes (ranger = assault). Or do they exist along side the previous classes. Or are they part of a tree (assault upgrades into ranger/something).
New classes are reworked old classes, basically. They're still rather different, for example the sharpshooter can spec to be a sniper or really good with a pistol. The specialist is basically the support class but mostly dependent on his little drone to do buffs, debuffs, hacks and such. There is a fifth class that has yet to be revealed.
Is it just me or are Heavies the worst class? They can't shoot for shit, run out of ammo too fast and have no utility other than the rocket, which is really only good against tight groups (once in a blue moon) or Sectopods/Cyberdiscs. Assaults, Supports and MECs seem to be the best classes, with snipers being godlike on some maps and useless on others.
Best classes- all the classses except the one you dislike. Rocket can blow up walls, and has saved many a marine from the worst case scenario. But yeah, they're probably the worst. You need to get this project in the foundry that makes ammo sizes huge. It's fantastic. no more 'everyone reload' rounds.
Heavies would be great if hits weren't calculated as all or nothing. If you're going to lay down that much fire you should be at least guaranteed a couple stray shots to hit, even with their shit accuracy.
That bugged me with shotguns too. How you'd be more likely to miss as they got further away and yet still do full damage, when in reality they'd be more likely to hit at longer ranges, just do less damage. Damage roulette though. That's an interesting one.
a single drone killed half my squad and gravely wounded the rest die in a ditch long war [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] *keeps playing*
a single drone killed half my squad and gravely wounded the rest die in a ditch long war [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] *keeps playing*
Drones are the bane of my existence in Long War. Small buggers keep avoiding my shots. Untill I got some Assault soldiers with that perk that allows them to dash and fire in the same round :v: That perk has been a lifesaver more often than I can count, both in vanilla and Long War.

The suppression from heavies is really useful because the magazine lasts a whole firefight.

What is this shit? I just started a new game The first ship I encounter in the sky is a huge vessel I send my rangers down and there's a ton of floaters, seekers, cryssalids e.t.c
Are you playing Long War?
Yes. Are you supposed to just abort those missions or try to luck your way out? It was my first alien encounter
Yes. Are you supposed to just abort those missions or try to luck your way out? It was my first alien encounter
Just abort. Floaters, seekers, cryssalids you can outsmart, outcamp, etc. But there gonna be a command room with 4-5 Outsiders and you just can't beat these, it's literally impossible.

Yeah but how is this fun? I got a huge ship at my radar 3 times in a row now
just let it go, it's probably the same ship [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] sometimes your satellites pick up the abductor ships that cause abduction missions - better to just let them land in the early game [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] http://ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=UFOs_%28Long_War%29
It's doable but it's a pain in the ass.
With starting equipment? How? I am genuinely curious
With starting equipment? How? I am genuinely curious
That's how:
Yeah but how is this fun? I got a huge ship at my radar 3 times in a row now
Sometimes you're gonna get some missions/UFOs that are way above your weight class. IIRC you'll get bonuses if you damage them for 50% of their HP (missions get aborted or no panic increases) so if you're feeling lucky you might go for that. But sometimes LW gives you a no-win scenario, best to suck it up and wait.
That's how:
single mission, 3 hours 17 minutes fuck my LIFE this guy is insane
single mission, 3 hours 17 minutes fuck my LIFE this guy is insane
That's nothing. Beagle spends every Friday livestreaming Long War I/I for eight hours straight. If there's a base assault lined up, he'll sometimes only make it through two missions in that time.
The X-COM team put out a survery, for anyone who wants to participate in it (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XCOM). (Also for some reason they put two unreleased X-COM games into the list of " Do you currently own any of the following XCOM titles?" :v:)
Why would 2k use Survey Monkey, instead of putting the survey on their own website?
Why would 2k use Survey Monkey, instead of putting the survey on their own website?
It takes work for their webmaster to do that.
It takes work for their webmaster to do that.
It's not like they have one dude to do all their work. Just have some intern do it in a weekend.
