Then you may wanna tweak some settings in the file called "DefaultGameCore.ini" found somewhere in Steam/.../XEW/Config folder before you go play, like reducing Fatigue time (which is a new Long War feature even if trooper doesn't get injured.) As for in-game options themselves, I'd suggest usual stuff like Aiming Angles, Red Fog, or whatever you want. Try Ironman mode, and Bronzeman optional if you want the ability to restart missions.

But some countries start with some skilled troopers. Japanese have one where starting bonus is 1 maxed out unit, if you'd put him on early missions he would destroy everything alone probably.

A mission involving an abandoned town/city filled with lids would be both awesome and terrifying, basically, imagine the fishing village mission, but the airstrike never bombed the shit out of it, now the lids are free to grow and multiply

Actually though, I am wondering how they're going to change chryssalids. They were one of the most interesting enemies in the EU, I can't imagine they'd scrap them. The thing is, all of the revamped units we've seen have been larger and beefier. That seems counter to chrysallids. They were cool because they were smaller insect-like creatures, that, while large enough to be intimidating, had to be small to keep that feeling of being swarmed by rapidly reproducing insects, rather than being stomped into the dirt by one humongous one. In fact, the way that they're making it seem like aliens will be rare miniboss-like enemies isn't really very accomodating to the nature of chryssalids. I imagine chryssalids will only appear in specific, unusual circumstances, such as XCOM Base Assaults and rebel encampment terror missions.
i just want a mod for EU that removes terror missions fuck them I always end up with only 5 civies rescued because Firaxis took the terrible decision to make them able to die in the Fog of War.
