23 tries later and allowing the Sectoid to move to half-cover instead of full made it possible.
I started a new game in OpenXcom and my first mission was base defense, is that normal? :v:
Thankfully I only lost one guy.
I don't play with mecs, ever. They are cool and all but I prefer some of the more subtle advantages of gene mods.
why not use both
I have one MEC who is generally the person who goes in first, and the rest of my dudes have genemods like regenerative bone marrow

I did my first play with EW, but spending meld on MECs reduced the number of soldiers I could gene mod or not be able to afford the mods I wanted. So I dropped MECs from my strategy. I might try a plain normal game to really play around with them more though.
I feel weird about the difficulty I play on. I like normal but it gets easy kinda fast, classic feels like I'm losing all the time. So I most often play what I call normal+ where I turn on a bunch of second wave options that are neutral or work against me.
Its usually better just to have two Mecs with one having Flame thrower, Grenades and mines in sort of fire support role bombing Thin Men and flaming Crysalids and stuff
and other with fist and electro pulse punching Mutons and disabling mechtoids and sectopods

I've been led to believe that if a UFO lands close to your base, like, very close, it will trigger a base assault, even if it's only on a research mission or something.

Do they know where my base is forever now?
Also I interrogated a floater and sectoid medic and I got autopsy info for the celatid (or whatever the bean is) and a chrysalid. Isit because they were medics and thus it is good to interrogate all the classes? If so how do I tell them apart?
Do they know where my base is forever now?
They shouldn't know your base is there.
If so how do I tell them apart?
The Mind Probe can tell you, but there's not really an easy way to know, you get the stun grenade launcher from the aliens later anyway and can just stun everything and everyone.

They forget after an assault. And yes, your experience is within the range of normal - try to keep ufos as far from your base as feasible to prevent it happening again.

Stupid radar didn't detect it, good thing I got a sectoid navigator.
Wouldn't a better title for XCOM 2 be eX-COMmunicated :v:
They're not a religion but they sure as shit got slammed.
That's nice, but who are most of these guys? I mean the current namelist is based around people who post in this thread.
I'm there woooooooooooooo. I don't post, but I creep. A lot :v:
I've been thinking.
I have Enemy Within on PC.
I also have it for Android, and I would love to play it on the move.
However, while it seems like a solid port, but it lacks LW.
Anyone happen to know of a decent Windows tablet, x86 not ARM, that can run XCOM decently?
I know that the PC version had the touch controls back-ported from the mobile versions (you can turn them on from the options if you have a touch screen.)
I spend, on average, 2 hours each day commuting to/from work, so it'd be really nice if it were an option.
[DEL]How does this work again, can I install LW 15e (newest) on top of my current installation 15d2 without problems?[/DEL] Yep works just fine, unless you install on top of a really old LW version. And needs validate integrity of files first for uninstalling.
Might have to start yet another save, and it wipes any edits to the DGC.ini file
If anybody's interested, I made a list of 2870 FP usernames and you can put it in http://daiz.io/xcom-namegen/ to get XCOM soldiers with these names
There are two of me on this forum, interesting. Don't see how can this be that useful though, I didn't check but I probably never heard of 80% of people on the list. Too many soldiers need to be killed to have a recognizable name
I looked at the list and my name isn't even on there but its on the other one for members of the thread
I looked at the list and my name isn't even on there but its on the other one for members of the thread
The big list was probably just copied from the online users list.
which is why u should use the actual namelist of members who post in this thread

Amazing.
As for the list, I say we stick to the one in the OP.
which is why u should use the actual namelist of members who post in this thread
but then I probably won't be there
you're in my current roster, you're in there
if not just ask, amirite nick

this is probably going to sound like a broken record to you but where can I find that :V:
bottom of the op
I'm not on there :c
this is probably going to sound like a broken record to you but where can I find that :V:
You're already on the list.
I'm not on there :c
You are now!
Again, if anyone wants to be on the namelist, just say the word and I'll add you.
I was surprised to find myself on that list to be honest. The one in the OP that is.
Judging from the gameplay trailer posted not long ago. It seems like we will be able to do proper guerilla-style terror missions.
We finally get to blow stuff up instead of rescuing civillians that runs straight towards chryssalids.
Requesting to be added to the list.
Booked my Gamescom ticket. I hope we get some real juicy info on XCOM 2 and maybe even a playable demo. Either way, I will certainly queue for the booth.
