My first playthrough of Ufo Defense took a bad turn when a gazillion ships got past my radars and interceptors before I could get the hyperwave decoders online. I lost China and Japan in two months in a row, but thankfully bounced back. Can't wait to get the Avenger in action.

Do we have any confirmation as to whether Michael McCann is doing the soundtrack for XCOM 2? I loved his work in Deus Ex and this XCOM so I'd be sad if we lost him.

No, Human revolution. Frankly, his work in EU was much better than in that game - the soundtrack is just one of a myriad ways DE:HR pales in comparison to the original DE.
DXHR sounded the same the whole way through. I know what it sounds like but there's no particular track that I remember. EU is way better, music fits the present situation.
The combat music in EU often perfectly matches the action.
