Also, did anyone else notice that the advent security helmets are pretty much identical to muton elite helmets?
I don't think that works with Long War, especially since it adds new armors.
Wow, Enforcer got left out of the OP?
Yes
I sense a SHIELD mod coming that replace the ADVENT/aliens with HYDRA.
I'm loving this game.
And how every time I shoot a sectoid their plasma pistols explode and kill any other nearby sectoid.
I imagine a Batman mod will come up some day with you being only soldier in squad, have tons of health and stealth mechanics and one hitting enemies with melee knockouts.
he wasn't a big fan of the Thin Men in the reboot.)
They did kind-of already exist in XCOM 1994, even if they didn't make much of a visual appearance

"Alien agents, human in appearance"
I now wonder, I've not seen / not taken notice of any mods for openxcom that add thin-men to combat missions.
For some reason I really want regular Sectoids or the Sectoid hybrids to be recruitable at some point
Give us an alien campaign please.

Mods.

Fuck that, humans uber alles.

Traitors.
Fuck that, humans uber alles.
There'll probably be some sort of achievement for maintaining the purity of XCOM.
Looks like the new class is probably machete-wielding soldier, given that they focused so much on the machete guy in the trailer. That or the machete is a new addition to the assault.
Give him a force-field energy shield that can block things please.
I don't care about the lore or anything I want and must have a squad of space-age guerilla legionaries that march on the aliens in a cyber-testudo and fuck everything up with plasma gladii.
make this possible with mods tools or canon pls
I was thinking that having a machete would be a default feature for all operatives. Should be, an' all.
I really need to learn how to make a good versus loadout in EW.
Nick is still undefated and I remain a filthy fucking casual.
[sp]But one day Nick, one day...[/sp]
Best early-game tactic is to get everybody standing at roughly the same distance from where you're planning to move up to, all in as good cover as you can find. Then advance one guy up (preferably assault) at the beginning of the turn. Don't overwatch anybody. If your assault triggers enemies, and they advance towards your people, you've got the full turn to kill them all. If you just overwatch everybody at the beginning of your turn, you have no tactical flexibility at all. If all your shit-aim rookies miss, you're completely fucked, you can't use grenades or flanking to give yourself better odds. If they only end up in vision of your assault, though, run your assault back to your people, then overwatch. Now you've got your entire team waiting to blow the aliens to bits when they chase down your assault.
Best late-game tactic is whatever the fuck you want because late game is easy af.

Nonono. Jungle Fighters of Catachan.
Nonono. Jungle Fighters of Catachan.
Oh god yes please.
Who the hell could say no to an XCOM team made up of Super Rambo's?
started yet another new game in EW, shoot down first UFO, send in Sergeant freshly acquired from council mission and three best squaddies
sectoids easily mopped up, reach the outsider, all men in full cover, ready to kill
not today commander
outsider crits EACH AND EVERY SOLDIER, EVERY TURN, FOR 9 DAMAGE, WHILE AVOIDING THEIR FIRE EVERY TURN
and ragequit I did
I hope they fix some of the problems in EU. There were a couple of obnoxious things that have fucked me over a few times in the game.
1. Height differences
A couple of times, I've clicked a tile on the ground floor of a building, only to have my soldier run up to the roof because a that tile was invisible up until the moment I moused over it, but still selectable. They should have a system more like the original game, where you can only move to tiles on the level you've selected.
2. Circular AoE's
Showing a circle around where an AoE like rockets or smoke to denote what tiles will be affected doesn't really work with a grid, because the grid doesn't line up with the circle. Sometimes part of the circle will be on a tile, but that tile won't actually be affected. They improved this with EW, by highlighting units and walls that will be affected, but it still doesn't help with stuff like close-combat specialist, and sometimes the EW system says a unit will be affected, but it isn't. Highlighting affected tiles would display this information much more effectively.
3. Flying
Flying is imprecise as all hell. Since the game has to compensate between height and horizontal distance, moving your cursor outside the possible range of locations (which the game doesn't display at all to you anyway) could send the selected tile all over the place. Letting you hold right click to activate the grid and travel purely horizontally would make this a lot easier to control.
So, uh, looks like Firaxis know what the fans like

I reiterate what I said before.
I NEED a naga alien chick on my team.
If they decide to allow for alien squadmates, I'll buy the game 20 times
Yeah that pretty much has to happen, whether through capturing and brainwashing, or through having disillusioned xenos decide to join your organization to tear down the alien hierarchy.
well if that doesn't happen in the base game, there's always mods.

That's quite the sad dichotomy.
How about have aliens join because they value the rights of a species to self-determination?
