So far, with all the aliens being sexy and cool, and the human side being pitched as rag tag terrorist group, I am starting to feel uneasy and worry if XCOM will still feel "awesome". I know XCOM was always about bad odds and getting fucked over, but the satisfaction of being in the actual saddle was what it was all about for me. I hope it won't be too much about being zero resources suckers who will win by stirring up unrest and/or some covert sabotage kill-the-main-meanie bullshit. I want to chew ass and kick gum, splash cash while looking flash, at least in the later stages of the game

[editline]24th July 2015[/editline] didn't they say they had a "cool twist" involving the commander from EU? and something to do with a secret fifth class

Like they openly support aliens but secretly fund Xcom
Apparently there was a project to make a remake of the original named UFO: The Two Sides and it somehow has a geoscape and battlescape playable with one person being XCOM and another being the Ayys. The project was discontinued four years ago due to legal reasons, but the files are still out there. Link Has anyone ever played it before?
Played it and made all my friends ragequit, wanna play together sometime? UFO:TTS is probably one of the most fun games I've ever played.
Maybe you still get good funding, it's just that the council is doing it under the table. Like they openly support aliens but secretly fund Xcom
XCOM was sort of morally grey with how far you were willing to go for total victory so I think the help you receive from the council is going to be like the help the council gives Shepard in ME2 but we're going to get money from some shady people. Maybe like some gangsters are funding us to hurt the aliens because they're restricting trade.
What's this "box strat" thing you all keep throwing at me
What's this "box strat" thing you all keep throwing at me
The lid box strat is you take a high ground point and place your troops on the edges to prevent lids from jumping up so you can continue shooting at them with the high ground advantage [editline]24th July 2015[/editline] GENE MOD/MEC HYPE
I wonder exactly how frequent aliens will be (at least in the early game) in XCOM 2. I wonder if entire missions will go by without a single alien, just ADVENT forces. As advertised right now aliens are super powerful, enough to be a challenge for your whole squad if you aren't prepared. I think it would be good for the early game to not always have an alien present; it would give you the ominous feeling of never really knowing if you're about to kick open a door and reveal something absolutely terrifying. Also, speaking of kicking open doors, I wonder if you open a door quietly in 2, and there are enemies within the building, if they'll notice the door opening or just notice your troops outside.
Oh aliens are terrorizing Russia again? Time to go in a kill some chry- oh Out of 24 contacts that were on the map, 6 were lids and 18 were zombies that were not lid created. Just had Squilt in my game get knocked down from a crit while in heavy cover and it somehow caused his body to spazz out and fly off the map making me unable to revive him. its shit like this that makes me scared to ever try an actual iron man run

IMHO that beats the actual thing anyway.

how can I modify genemod + mec times? I don't want to have my soldiers out of the action for 10 days
If you've got the mental fortitude, just do a self-imposed run, and reload only in the case of ridiculous bugs like that. Foosli,Fuzzwaddle,Rearadmiral, little.sparrow,Squilt and jimbobjoe123 are on the scene, im fairly certain this is going to be where I lose my first man/woman. [editline]25th July 2015[/editline] That went incredibly well, Foosli is my best scout simply because everytime I tell 'her' to fire at something so I can get the holo targeting buff 'she' manages to crit and remove the enemy instead. [editline]25th July 2015[/editline] Finally lost someone to a bullshit half the map crit against someone in heavy cover while taking on a medium UFO landing with the same squad. FuzzWaddle will forever be remembered as the dude that died first
Played it and made all my friends ragequit, wanna play together sometime? I added you on steam
Long War question- does Security Training let mooks equip any lasers on hand or just the Laser Rifles specifically?
first gene mod troops from FP first futbol team pod Rip Telepethi, first casualty in months
am i still gravely wounded??
Long War question- does Security Training let mooks equip any lasers on hand or just the Laser Rifles specifically?
Just the Laser Rifles.
Starting to run into some shit thats confusing me, had a few times now where someones clearly on a corner thats flanking a xeno scum but I dont get a flank bonus, then I had aliens who are on tiles that are two away from the tile line my unit is hiding behind but get a flank anyway? Also turns out the trucks that have no back on them dont let your units look around the sides if they stand on the back, I just had my sniper unable to shoot a xeno standing in the middle of the street because she couldnt understand how to slightly lean in order to take the shot.
I'm trying to play through all of the UFO games, currently playing through Aftermath. It's quite a decent game actually, really like how it feels. The graphics are just so muddy and hard on the eyes.
i hope we can go back to the old xcom HQ and see how far they got before getting smashed
125 hours on log, finally made a S.H.I.V. How did I never use these before? They kick unfathomable amounts of ass. Zombies get ruined, cyberdicks shrivel up when they're being suppressed by three of their robot kin, thin mints and lasexalts can't even hit them at point blank. And all I've given them is mags and laser sights. [editline]25th July 2015[/editline] Since they're basically adorable tanks, I've named them all after GuP characters.
Shivs are godsends, especially for long war when you go up against thin men.
My shivs keep giving their lives to save my squad members from chrystalids. Facepunch-1 was killed on its first mission tanking a full squad of them.
Shivs are godsends, especially for long war when you go up against thin men.
I'm pretty sure my current SHIV, MQ-0101 "Vanguard", has killed more ayys than the entire rest of XCOM combined. Also, whenever one of my SHIVs continuously gets trashed mission after mission, I change its nickname to "Chappie" :v:.
I wonder if it'll be possible to complete a mission entirely in stealth in XCOM2? that'd be a fun challenge.
