Dunno if I like how they're mixing human DNA into all the ayys. It was cool with the sectoid because it made them more threatening and creepy, and sectoids are already pretty humanoid so it mixes well, but with the muton it doesn't really seem to fit as well. I always liked how the mutons had enormous shoulders and tiny heads, to sort of signify how they're the meatsacks, bred for war without much intelligence. Now though, they're less intimidating anatomically, and have huge heads. They look like megamind after hitting the gym. Why would you use the huge head design when going for a buff soldier alien? Save that for some psionic enemy.

Smarter than a thickhead grunt =/= super-genius. In any case their design seems to be gravitating more towards human proportions, which is much less interesting to me than a huge tank design.

I'm hoping we'll see more unique aliens rather than upgraded aliens we have already seen. The only new alie we've seen is the viper, and they admitted its just the true form of thin men.
I wish they would bring out some stranger aliens. Remember the silacoids and celatids? One was a floating ball of flesh that threw acid at you and the other one was a sentient rock that could bullrush you and burn you by increasing it's own temperature (if I remember correctly anyway). Like, I'm ok with humanoid aliens that use guns and stuff. But I want really out there designs, more like the seekers. Maybe a gelatinous blob. Worm-like aliens that burrow. Big, tentacled creatures. More animal-like creatures like, I dunno, furry mutons. Aliens with single eyes. Aliens with 20 eyes. Maybe an alien that only appears on night missions and is super spoopy. Whatever.
fucks sake you guys we've seen like 3 aliens and one scripted mission
Maybe Bradford is the way he is in XCOM 2 because the ayys destroyed his precious sweater?
Surely you jest! No species in the galaxy is technologically equipped to even attempt such a thing!
Collectors edition comes with a life sized XCOM approved machete
xcom akbar sweaters are the only god, and bradford is their prophet

http://www.gamersyde.com/news_gc_new_xcom_2_screens-16918_en.html Some cool new X-com 2 screenshots. I'll be at gamescom tomorrow and Friday. Expect a trip report on Saturday!
Speaking of ayys, I'd like more extensive alien variants ingame to keep things fresh even while new aliens aren't showing up, similar to Mutons and their Muton Elite counterparts but on a smaller scale. It wouldn't be that much work, the variant unit could simply have a recolor with some minor model changes, and it'd help keep you on your toes even in the lategame where you've met every possible type of alien sans the boss.
that fukken map
New research guy. RIP Vahlen ;_; Unless its a placeholder or she's with ADVENT [t]http://images.gamersyde.com/image_xcom_2-29114-3240_0015.jpg[/t]
So it looks like Shen's Granddaughter is now the lead engineer then? At least that's what I'm picking out by this screenshot and her last name being confirmed as Shen.
goddamnit Vahlen was awesome [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] new scientist is Dr. Tygan if I were to place a bet

Wonder if we'll find out what happened to Shen and Vahlen. Also Shen has a pet Gremlin. Cute.

Vahlen has more likely been forced to genemod ADVENT/Ayys

[t]http://images.gamersyde.com/image_xcom_2-29114-3240_0002.jpg[/t] "boosst" [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] chief shen confirmed for snakelady in disguise
I am so glad you can train your rookies right away, this is great

They are a drone support class.
I don't think that's Shen, that's just someone who is being equipped. They are a drone support class.
Why would they have a build menu beside a soldier as opposed to the engineer like in EU/EW? Also she's not holding any kind of weapon and its not too crazy she'd keep a Gremlin around, especially if she made them. That and she's Asian like Shen. [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] Also in 10 minutes Firaxis/XCOM twitter are doing some periscope thing which you command the guy around.
periscope guy died to advent
Just noticed something. [t]http://images.gamersyde.com/image_xcom_2-29114-3240_0008.jpg[/t] Read the description for slash. Looks like we're not limited to dashing and slashing. We could, theoretically, blue move a soldier up next to an enemy in cover, slash them, and remain in cover. Sounds like melee is going to have legitimate, non desperation fueled purpose after all. :v:
What's really interesting ME about those loadout pics is the "personal combat sims" tab.
Anyone got any idea as to what Personal Combat Sims may be?
Drugz [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] Anti-LMAO drugz.
I thought that at first but its Sims, not Stims.
