Just noticed something.

Read the description for slash. Looks like we're not limited to dashing and slashing. We could, theoretically, blue move a soldier up next to an enemy in cover, slash them, and remain in cover. Sounds like melee is going to have legitimate, non desperation fueled purpose after all. :v:
Nope, that sounds like I'm banzai-charging every motherfucker this side of the gene pool :v:.
What does charge actually do? It looks like run and gun for swords, but you can already slash after dashing so what's the point?
[editline]5th August 2015[/editline]
Also, looks like you get two upgrades instead of one when you become a squaddie.

Double-tap, maybe? So you could slash twice?
What does charge actually do? It looks like run and gun for swords, but you can already slash after dashing so what's the point?

I assume it means dashing slashes lets you do two attacks.
Looks like we do have a permanent base. Though I wonder if it will move if ADVENT finds it. Also, the fact that ADVENT passively gets better as you do because they notice your scientific advancements is rad.
Also camo things is cool.
I'd also think Combat Sims is related to the screen that showed picking what class you want to train somebody in.
[editline]5th August 2015[/editline]
Maybe you can send people to train and gain xp without having to go on a mission, but at a slower rate?
Looks like it solves the problem Long War has where you just kinda have to guess how the Aliens are progressing.
Anyone else missing the whole character customization? We've seen the armor customization, but nothing related to the person, i.e. face, hair, skin color, hair color, etc.
Vahlen has more likely been forced to genemod ADVENT/Ayys
What if she's been genemodded herself?
What if she's been genemodded herself?
Completely twisted and corrupted by genemods and advent influence.
half snek

You'll probably get a new base once you run ADVENT off a country.
Then, it'll be a game of freeing country after country from ADVENT's control, and keeping one's already freed from them from returning to their alien overlords.

Why not full snek?
It'd also be a good excuse to not have her voice actor return.

What are you implying? do you think they took the character customization away when they've shown so many different looking soldiers and talked so much about how the character customization has improved?

No, I'm just wondering where they put it.

There are 2 images that show character customization. They've explicitly said that there are more customization options this time around.
A was worried that they had replaced face customization and stuff with props and scars, but if you look closely that's almost certainly not the case.

If you look on this window, you can see that, while there isn't face customization, there also isn't name customization, race customization, voice customization, or the already-confirmed sex customization. This means there definitely is another window for customization, which presumably includes all these things.

They should just let you build your own soldiers from the beginning, as silly as that sounds. :v:
I still kinda dislike the look of the faces in this game, so everyone in my XCOM will have a helmet. Hooray.
I also hope that having uncovered arms isn't forced. I really disliked it in XCOM and I would absolutely hate it if even your base soldiers are forced to go guns-out on the battlefield.

There's a distinct possibility that you might be able to create some veterans at the beginning of the game. Look at "Hound Dog" in the above picture, for instance. He's a Sergeant with no missions and no kills.

It won't be forced, it's a customization option.

The trailer has fully covered arms. I'm sure that there will be loads of different options for all the customization stuff.
I just wanna have some sort of proper full cover uniform to give my troops. Make them look something like the Brotherhood of Nod rather than mismatching rag tag action movie heroes. Just because you're a guerrilla force doesn't mean you can't have uniform regulation
maybe killing advent will give you their gear for customization?

Well, they're merely just giving you the option to give them some personality, really.
I still think they need to add a uniform ability to the game, especially once you land a base in your first freed country.
jesus h the amount of info contained in that screenshot dump

they're looted off dead advent during battles, there's like an inventory system now afaik

Vahlen is "lost"
Richard Tygan is ex-ADVENT and has an X scar on the back of his head
Scientists and Engineers have names and nationalities now
Can add staff to areas to increase recover/creation time
Raymond Shen is dead and Lilly Shen is Raymond Shens daughter
Raymond Shen found the Avenger before dying
Lilly has a pet Gremlin
Experimental ammo/grenades are randomized
Can train Rookies straight into classes now
Soldiers have customizable attitude/demeanor
Venom Ammo is a thing
Can get shot down which leads to a special mission type
Looks like it solves the problem Long War has where you just kinda have to guess how the Aliens are progressing.
Yeah, that's a pretty big gripe I have with LW at present. The meld given per canister depending on how well the aliens are doing resource-wise is a neat little idea but in the early game it means precisely fuck all and suddenly you go from battling brittle little sectoids to 30hp regenerating Mutons.

Gonna tick Happy-Go-Lucky off every soldier with it. Ugh.
Loving the voice on the new scientist guy, from what you can hear of it over the commentary.

Hey! I was right about something. I wanted something like this to happen with either your Skyrangers or your mothership Avenger thing. Recovery missions are my favorite, you get to see the aftermath of your actions and that's always great.
