ya NV's karma system wasn't really bad at all, some actions were annoying but the chaotic/good good, neutral, chaotic bad, bad system wasn't bad, there were problems with the actions that triggered things but not the actual system
NV's karma system would have been somewhat decent if it had actually worked. 100 karma for killing an evil actor (such as a fiend who are hostile by default) when the max is 1000 means that it was almost impossible to finish the game with anything less than "very good" karma.

If a system where karma mattered to you only, then it would be meaningless because aside from a few perks, karma was more about how other people saw you. An ideal system would be some kind of fusion between the companion approval system and the faction approval system. Your actions should influence those around you, not some arbitrary statistic that only affects you.
you posted before the edit, it's not trivial because karma is not supposed to be the only system. karma and reputation should be two distinct ways to gauge how "good" or "bad" your characters are to themselves and to the world and factions around it
NV's karma system would have been somewhat decent if it had actually worked. 100 karma for killing an evil actor (such as a fiend who are hostile by default) when the max is 1000 means that it was almost impossible to finish the game with anything less than "very good" karma.
it wasn't as bad as the faction rep system, they were all very quick to forgive you for things, killed hundreds of legionares? no problem ceasar forgives you...for now, kill a bunch of rangers and stole their shit? the NCR gives you a sternly worded letter and the ambassador forgives you the strip was about the only faction that wasn't quick to forgive you, but you could bribe your way with them
The idea is having two stats, karma and reputation. Karma determines aspects about yourself, like perks you can unlock, or highly impactful dialog options which are only obtainable if you're good or evil (appealing to a villain's humanity and trying to tell the error of their ways, versus shooting them during their monologue and instantly killing them) Reputation would determine how others treat you. Are you known to be a thief? A slanderer? A murderer, perhaps? Few people will approach you for help with their problems... Unless they're as bad a person as they think you are. If you're known to do bad things, you'll be getting more seedy and questionable tasks from more and more shady characters, driving you further into the negatives until someone truly desperate needs your help, and for finally doing good for another person again, you'll start to climb back out of the hole you dug yourself, slowly reforming your ways until you're accepted again.
diggin on this settlement [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/jNmOSx.png[/t] good vibes
I really gotta make more small houses instead of a one big one.
it wasn't as bad as the faction rep system, they were all very quick to forgive you for things, killed hundreds of legionares? no problem ceasar forgives you...for now, kill a bunch of rangers and stole their shit? the NCR gives you a sternly worded letter and the ambassador forgives you
The pardon was an one time only thing that happened for gameplay reasons, to give you a chance of changing your idea before following your favourite faction to the end game. i don't think it's fair to judge the entire system for it - they still went pretty hard after you before it and if you got caesar's forgiveness and killed any other legionaire then you would be screwed with them till the end of the game anyway. It's less of "rep system is broken" and more of an arguably questionable design choice to keep the main quest path open for people or they would complain about how "new vegas forces you to side with the NCR! caesar guys will never talk to me because i shot vulpes in nipton and now they're forever hostile with me!!!"
it wasn't as bad as the faction rep system, they were all very quick to forgive you for things, killed hundreds of legionares? no problem ceasar forgives you...for now, kill a bunch of rangers and stole their shit? the NCR gives you a sternly worded letter and the ambassador forgives you the strip was about the only faction that wasn't quick to forgive you, but you could bribe your way with them
They only forgave you once, and I believe that was just after you deal with Benny. And I remember the Legion being very quick to anger. On my first playthrough of New Vegas, I killed Vulpes because he creeped me out, and even though that was only enough to get my reputation down to "Shunned", when I got further up the road to Novac, they sent a hit squad after me which I had to kill, and that was enough to get me to "Vilified".
wasn't one of the [sp]hallucigens an experimental invisibility drug?[/sp]
I thought most of the other products Hallucigen claimed to have made were total failures/fraudulent attempts to keep getting money off the army I'm pretty sure a terminal entry mentioned the 'invisibility drug' as being a contraption a scientist set up involving mirrors
Then that makes it trivial. Because I think that's exactly how it should be. Faction rep should dictate how people see you and Karma should dictate only how your character, well, is. It could affect things like perks as well, but it would be better off being either a meaningless number, or having small impacts on your character, like appearance/personality shifts depending on how evil/good you are.
Dunno if I'm late on this, I probably am, but when I went onto MacCready's Wikia page to find out his like's and dislikes, [sp]I found out he's the same fucking MacCready from Little Lamplight.[/sp]
-senpai stepping up-
oh shit he did it, the absolute madman
and I get like 30 fps looking in the direction of the turret box lol.
When I go to my generator house the game audio turns into pure static from the level of clipping :v:

I mean, I did too, but only to confirm it. The first thing that popped into my head when I found him was "wow, bethseda got another character from DC in here"

How do I prevent this from happening? Preferably something that doesn't involve losing 2 hours of progress building my settlement. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZUJmjy5.jpg[/img_thumb] [editline]12th December 2015[/editline] His legs are fused crossed like that.... It might have something to do with power armor, because before I loaded a different save game, deleting an additional 2 hours of progress on my settlement, he had somehow fused into the set of power armor stored there, causing my power armor to vanish but he didn't have it on, his body legs and hands just warped out.
What the fuck is there a character limit when naming weapons? My Missile Launcher is now called 'Assassin's Missile Launche' like I'm a fucking retard or French.

I used to hate how t-51b power armor looked in the earlier fallout games, but now its one of my favorite power armors in fallout 4.
I don't like how smooth it looks, luckily for me I think X-01 Armour looks the best.

The pissed-off eye slit was reduced in fallout 3, it looks better in 4.
The biggest improvement is probably the textures and lighting.
For some reason the Railroad is mad at me. "We have intel that you are working with those monsters over at the Instatute. Even if you aren't we can't risk those chances. You should leave. Now." Bitch not even the last time I talked to you, you said you were glad that the instatute was gone.

What are the flaws with the railroad?
